Picked mainly because we had one of our dogs with us. Very close to a huge park, and a grocery store. Clean property. Fridge, microwave, sink, coffee maker, dish washer, cups, dishes and silverware. Some pots and pans for cooking. Gym was decent with enough equipment to stay in shape. No breakfast, because it’s an extended stay.
Checkin staff and all staff throughout very friendly and helpful. Room was large, clean, and comfortable. Our only suggestions would be SOFTER towels, firmer pillows and ice machine. The room had a two burner kitchen, with sink, large fridge and all the utensils/cookware needed. However, the ice maker in fridge was slow, and did not make enough ice "overnight" for our needs. It's turned off in between guests, and suggested to "turn off" while in room since its VERY LOUD. Well, if we turn it off to avoid the loud noise, and YES it's really loud, then we would have had no ice. In fact, there's a sign on the fridge saying "turn off ice maker to avoid loud noise". Crazy, right??? The towels were like sandpaper, very hard, the hardest ever...too bad cuz they were nice thick towels. A little softener goes a long way! All the pillows were soft, not one was firm of the 4 pillows on our queen size bed. A variety would have been better. All in all, it's a nice hotel, in a nice area, close to shopping and restaurants and a City Market within walking distance for grocery items! Would recommend and would stay there again. hoping that pillows, towels and ice machine added. FREE breakfast would have been nice too, considering similar hotels in the area offered free breakfast and lower hotel rates.
Booked this hotel not realizing it is considered an extended stay hotel. It was great. The hotel was easy to find and in a quiet location. The staff was helpful and informative. Our room had a kitchenette that was well equipped. As an extended stay establishment, they don't serve breakfast, but do have a few things available for purchase. Anyway, we did some cooking in the room and were pleasantly surprised and the quality of the cookware and utensils. The room was sparkling clean and comfortable. The wifi worked well. I'd stay here again.
My husband and I stay here when visiting Grand Junction because of its convenient location and dog friendly rooms. It's a very clean hotel with friendly staff. The value is good too. I recommend this hotel to families or those traveling on business!
Overall, a decent stay. But disappointed in some of the same things others have mentioned such as no comp breakfast nor comp newspapers. We did have to get moved as the first room had been obviously occupied by a smoker even though the entire facility is to be smoke free. Our second room was fine. Rooms are set up for cooking, but that seems somewhat incongruous in that many guests are just passing through the area. But if you have items to cool, a full sized refrigerator is available. As noted by others, this is a pet-friendly property, so expect to see dogs. We did not hear dogs, so most are used to staying in hotels. The morning we left, the elevator was not working properly and we were on the top floor. Front desk was making the best of an unwieldy problem, but a new facility should not have this kind of issue. (The problem was the elevator car buttons for floor selection were not working...we were told the elevators had been inspected twice in last week and given clean bills of health.) Overall, a nice place for a one night stay.
Good location. Friendly staff and a good price. The room was clean, as was the bathroom. Comfortable bed and good shower. Just wish they had breakfast in the morning although we did have a kitchen/refrigerator. Good coffee. I would stay there again.
This hotel is one of the lower end, moderately priced, chains. Our room was comfortable and fresh. It had a large refrigerator, small cook top, dish washer, etc. Their problem is that there is no hotel ice machine and they allow pets. The ice maker is in the room's refrigerator/freezer and is empty and off when you arrive. We complained as we wanted ice when we got there. They actually went to the nearby grocery store and bought a bag of ice and brought us half of it! That was good service but they cannot do that for everybody. They need a big ice machine!! As for the pets, the hotel was over run with big dogs. They were all well behaved but my wife is allergic to pet dander and it compounded her asthma problem. We will not stay here again or at any of this chain because of the animals.
In town on a business trip. Comfortable suite. Fairly new facility. A bit disappointed for an icg group hotel no comp breakfast. Oh well, the price was right for a one night stay. Close to many restaurants, the mall, Colorado National monument and other attractions.
This hotel is very basic for what it is. Nothing great to say and nothing bad to say. So if your looking for a place to stay, stay here. Walking distance to shopping. Small outdoor patio with two grills. Full kitchen with dish washer.
I stay in a lot of hotels because of my job I stay on the road 10 months out of the year. So you might say I live in hotels and know exactly what to inspect. This Candlewood Suites was pretty typical. They don't offer any upgrades you have to ask if available unlike holidayinn which is in the same IHG Network. They don't offer King beds of course. Their top-of-the-line room consists of a queen bed. In the springs appeared shot in this one that I stayed in. But all in all the bed and pillows were comfortable. The recliner seem broke and the remotes didn't work. But that was not really a big thing. They do offer free laundry service just like other Candlewood Suites. But if you ask the staff to do something it's almost like pulling teeth. I asked if I could pay cash up front and she made me put it all on my card. When I left there I went to the airport Holiday Inn the next day and they let me pay cash for it and put my incidentals on the card so not sure why them being in the same network they couldn't do that. Also there was a point option where the area was offering additional points at an extra cost. I asked if she could upgrade me to that cost and she said no I'd have to do that during reservation. But when I got to the Holiday Inn Express the next day which is only down the street from this hotel. They were able to change my reservation in accommodate me because the lady behind the desk understood how the IHG Network worked. I called The Candlewood Suites back and told her how she could change this in the system to help me get more points, and she basically said there was nothing she could do to help me. She says there was some type of manager I can talk to but that wouldn't be till Monday and this was Saturday. I'll be in another state Monday so not much I can do now. The place is about a three and a half stay but I'll give it a 2 for the poor coaching of the staff from management. I had issues from night shift and day shift asking easy fix questions that couldn't be remedied by these people.
