The property is nice, how its made only for people staying at resort. We stayed at bayside, the room at first walk smelled like strong scent of toilet cleaner as soon as that wore off room smelt moldy and stuffy very unpleasant and the furniture was all beat up and old making it feel like an old smelly motel. For the price We paid a night We were very disappointed, holiday inn got better rooms than that for half the price. Also the resort app is not user friendly and all amenities you have to figure out on your own wish they had like a brochure with times and schedule and how to get to certain pools we were able to find two small pools and nothing like advertised when we asked for help to find the other two they gave us a blunt reply its on the app. Thanks but that didn't help much.

Too busy. Not relaxing

When we checked in, the girl gave us very poor directions to our unit. We had to ask once we got to the address how to get to our building, Lasata, which is not visible when you first get to the address. Our unit had a couch (hide-a-bed) and as that was the only seating area, we had to sit on the couch. The cushions were terrible and you sank into the metal bed frame when you sat down. I needed to use the dryer in the building and lost money and the unit I first chose was broken. There was no note on the unit to show it was broken although another washer and another dryer were marked as broken.

It was my first time in Destin. I was traveling with teenagers and want a place with things to do. Our bedroom was small and had no table. No place to eat besides the bed. I wished I had booked something bigger if I knew other options. You pay cleaning fees however there is no room cleaning. You have to take the trash out to a trash room. Very inconvenient. I text the reception snd asked for toiletries , toilet paper snd extra towels. When you check they tell about the hotel app.,about 4 Pools, 4 hrs 2 complementary bikes snd 1 hr complimentary Kayaking and the tram. Well if was difficult for us to figure out where our pools where located. I had no idea how many hotels were part of the resort. Girls were going to a gym at the Grand and we had a gym and pool in our building. If you do not have a car it is a problem to get out of the resort. There were very limited Uber or Lyft in that area. We had to wait 20 to 30 min. The day we were leaving our Uber was 90 min away from the the time we had scheduled. We had to cancel. And get the most expensive Uber to get to the airport. We had to get the tram (shuttle) to the beach. No towels available unless you rent them. I chose a resort because I wanted to relax, but here it felt you were on your own. The employees of Hotel Effie were the most friendly and helpful. It is a place I would recommend. There were things we found out in our last day. About the big gym and breakfast place. Did not get to go there.

It was advertised to us as beach front, our room was not, and even when I called I was told we would be beach front, very dissatisfied!!

I expected a more updated room for the price and the place really but it was clean and nice. Also if booking this property make sure you know it’s on the bay say not the beachside.

Confusing to get to the room- staff was very rude in helping us finding our room. Walls were paper thin and we could hear people in the next room talking. They weren't partying or being loud- just talking and I could hear the exact words of their conversation. The next morning we spent 2 hours trying to get our room switched- 2 hours out of our vacation time waiting to switch rooms. The next room had black mold in the shower- which we didn't see until later in the afternoon. The staff was very rude and not helpful in helping us that night. The front desk said they had to email a manager. I never heard from a manager, so I had to spend two hours the following morning dealing with the manager and the situation. Another two hours away from vacation time... plus the headache of the switching rooms and the frustration- I shouldn't owe any money to the resort- they should pay me for dealing with that headache. We left our vacation three days early because this resort is such a joke. None of the staff care- they are all rude. There is no way a resort this size should not have a manager on site 24/7 and no reason why staff should email a manager over a situation- a manager should be notified in person immediately and handle the situation immediately. I travel all over the world and have never dealt with such a joke of an operation.

Great property- clean, free bikes for 4 hrs a day, beautifully located on Miramar Beach. The only negative was construction sounds everyday from work on one of the nearby buildings.

This was a VERY beautiful place to stay . Best getaway I’ve had so far

Rooms at sandestin bay side. Buyer beware. They are a trashy 1 star. We paid good money for an outdated rooms. Pictures on website are not what we walked into. The moment i walked into the halls i smelled old i knew it was shady. I left 1 nite early due to dirty beds, outdated room, unfriendly staff poor communication with a manager. AVOID bayside at sandestin save your money and go elsewhere.

The location was great and we loved staying next the restaurants

Cleanliness wasnt the best, we found food in the floor at check in. Amenities of the actual resort are completely abandoned. Room had a moisty smell. We were able to enjoy other amenities inside Sandestin so it wasn't too bad but the actual resort looks pretty abandoned

Employees at registration were not friendly nor professional to say the least.

The property was beautiful. The one bedroom condo in beachside 2 was perfect. My husband loved the links golf course. My only complaint would be the beach area is very overcrowded.

Great place great staff. Very accommodating and has tons of great Golf!!!!

LIKES: The property is beautiful and well kept with manicured lawn. It's huge! I love that there's a marina with free kayaking. It also has a beautiful bayside wharf inside the property which is like a min amusement park. The beach is nice, clean and well maintained and only a 5-minute walk from our condo. DISLIKES: Poor customer service. The front desk at the registrration did not welcome me and did not smile the entire time. He was a little rude and lacked social skills. This is not a hotel but a condo association which is mostly owned by members. The units do not have phones so we had to use our own phone to request for more towels and an extra blanket which arrived too late. I requested the blanket the night before but did not arrive until the next day. Moreover, we didn't know how to call the front desk because the number was not provided to us initially nor was it provided inside the unit. I had to be creative by googling the number. The unit was nice but one of the chairs is broken. We had to pay extra to stay in the beach side area which was a rip off. There were no hand sanitizers at all anywhere on the property. Despite the vastness of the property, there are no restaurants but you have to go to the bayside wharf for that. However, there are plenty of restaurant choices outside within a 5-min drive
