Playamar- Beachfront Apartment

There are pros and cons.

There are different aspects to this hotel...Pros- the beach is literally steps away. There is a kitchen with fridge and freezer. Provided with camping chairs to sit on the beach. Great spot for people watching. Bed was better than other places I've been to Location is good for walking to places (stores/restaurants) Cons.... Only sheets were provided, no blanket. I paid a $94 room fee...not really sure why. (This fee was supposed to cover pool and beach access along with amenities. The pool was closed....looks like for a long time too. It was completely drained and had dirt in the bottom. (Even though I paid for pool access in the fee)There were no beach towels provided (even though I paid a room fee for them according to Orbitz) The beach access is public, so again...the fee? The bathroom has no fan nor does the kitchen. It gets rather sweltering in both. There isn't any hot water, even with the nozzle for hot only places to its max capacity. Not really good water pressure either. The AC doesn't work that well. I don't think it worked at all the last night. I didn't bother calling regarding it because there is nothing they are going to do at midnight. You get two towels for the length of your stay. Personally I think with showering at least once a day if not more after the beach, the towels get a little funky. There is no parking. The people on the beach play their music VERY loud rather early. The bathroom's shower had a good amount of soapscum on it. just go elsewhere.

TRYP by Wyndham Isla Verde

Great modern comfortable hotel

I booked one night in advance but my flight back was delayed due to hurricane Irma. The staff was able to extend my stay and were very accommodating to my flight changes. The hotel is very modern and funky but they don't slack on comfort at all. The room was a perfect size with a view of the beach across the street. The bed and shower were high end and rivaled much more expensive hotels I have stayed at. The room was very clean and polished. I didn't have a suite but the staff brought up a mini fridge and microwave which was great for a long stay.
