The property itself was extremely gorgeous. The surrounding area of the property was under construction. Would like to visit again after all the work is done and the casino is added

Not a five star hotel by any means.

😊

The staff was rude, the bars were closed, the bartenders were rude, the price for cocktails wre excessively overpriced the food was not good, the beaches had a lot of sea weed, overal terrible place to stay, will not go back

The resort is amazing - beautiful pools and beach. Food and drinks weren’t great and were outrageously expensive

Clean, welcoming, excellent service, wonderful amenities, perfect view of the ocean, 3 pools with plenty of room for sunbathing, excellent restaurants, fairly priced.... I will be back for sure!

Great place to stay and relax

STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!! Our experience at this hotel was disgusting from the beginning to the very end. The staff is extremely rude and not helpful. There is no service at all. They are using covid as an excuse for their laziness and lack of service. You cannot buy drinks by the pool or by the bar. They demand you take a table, wait for 40 minutes before the waitress approaches you to take your order, if you call her, she screams at you that she has other stuff to do, & this is happening every single time on daily basis! When we went to exchange our pool towels, the guys there also said they're out of the towels and don't know when we can expect new towels in a 'go take a hike' manner. You can never get a lounge chair by the pool. They put about 10 lounge chairs for the whole hotel & the rest are cabanas for which you have to pay extra! Checkout there is at 11 am. I asked for a late checkout at 2 pm, a woman at the front desk said she couldn't do it without even checking in her system whether anyone was coming after us. Then, my husband went to ask for a late checkout again & said we would pay for it, a woman basically screamed at him saying "my colleague already told your wife no, what don't you understand?!" We had to check out at 11 am, stayed by the pool until 2 pm we were leaving, we passed out villa and saw that no one cleaned it. They just did want to accommodate us out of plain nastiness. This is not a 5-star hotel. It's worth that any hostel I've ever stayed !!!

Have stayed here many times. Beautiful hotel snd close to the airport with one of the best beaches in the area. Room cleanliness was questionable and I should’ve complained the first day. Staff is extremely nice and professional.

Just wouldn’t stay here again, waste of money and bland.

I gifted my husband a trip to PR for his 40th Birthday this past week. I deliberated for a while due to the mixed reviews but I am so happy that I went with the Fairmont El San Juan Hotel! I cannot thank GABRIEL & ELIA enough for all of their assistance in making this 40th Bday a memorable one for my hubby. We spent his bday on a rainforest excursion while Elia organized the room and had the balloons set up in our room (i bought balloons with me but knew I would have no time to set up) along with cake for both of us to celebrate. Overall we had an amazing experience. Our room was a walk away from the pool and seconds away from the private beach. We ate at Barrachina (in Old San Juan) and the food was amazing!! Our regular spot became the Corchea which was walking distance from the hotel and was a perfect hidden gem. The food and ambiance is on point!! Ask for Greg he is the best!!! We will be back!

Loved the pools & beach. Did not like the rooms without opening windows. Definitely did not like the high price of drinks & food!

Not enough employees. Absurdly expensive. No one picking up dirty dishes or towels. Pool chairs were disgusting. Loud construction noise from swim up pool bar during sun set. I did not see anyone disinfect public areas ever. The one pool lunch that I ordered, fish tacos for $30, were soggy and cold. The resort fee tacked on each day was just a way to further milk the guests. Very disappointing stay. Very poor management.

We had an amazing time. This review would have been all perfect if it weren’t fir the mediocre service. Be prepared for less than stellar service at times here and throughout the island because they have been hit by - not only a pandemic - but also still recovering from Hurricane Maria 3 years later. The staffing shortages are clear and likely not in their control. I will say that the facilities were gorgeous, the beach is the best in San Juan, and it was very clean. Pool seats fill up quickly. My husband grabbed our family spots at 7:30 and we went down at 8:30am. Rooms were cleaned every other day (not daily) for reasons due to Covid - and I imagine staffing problems - but it turned out to be fine. Overall, I would stay again in a heartbeat.
