Among the many positives, we signed up for the photography hike with Alfonso. He is multitalented with an excellent understanding of photography and ability to communicate that knowledge. Fantastic-we learned more practical tips that have stepped up the quality of our shots and editing.
Go here for the spa experience, pampering and the great restaurant, but there are other less pricey lodgings with better views.
My girlfriend's birthday weekend required a getaway. The place needed to be a stress reducer. This was the place. It was quiet and secluded. The scenery was beautiful and the amenities were top notch.
Ventana was an absolutely fantastic stay. Perfectly located in one of the most beautiful parts of the country. We hiked, sun bathed, dined on spectacular cuisine, and hottubbed.
My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights when we visited Big Sur. The room was nice but small for over $700 a night. The property was beautiful, and had a nice walking path around it. The views were okay, but we could only see the ocean in the far distance over the tips of trees. The pools, wine happy hour and restaurant were lovely. My biggest complaint is that the resort was difficult to maneuver. The restaurant was .5 miles from our room, they have shuttles that took us around but then you had to tip, also turn down service and many other "service" perks that seemed to require a tip. Plan to have $5-20 in small bills with you to tip throughout the visit.

What can I say, amazing hotel with a beautiful romantic setting. Their basic rooms are less than you'd expect for the price. If your planning on going there regardless, make sure you spend the extra on an upgrade. You'll be disappointed if you don't.
Super friendly and helpful staff. We got the Sip and Savor Package, in which dinner and wine is included with your nightly rate. However, the wines left a lot to be desired. The rooms were great, the pools were relaxing, and the Japanese baths were amazing.

Heaven on earth. I have been coming here for years and it does not get any better than this. No children or pets. Very very quiet. Gardens are special. Good hiking trails, lots of wildlife. The restaurant is the only negative BUT they have free breakfasts with lodging and great wine and cheese tasting.
