Pleasant surprise! Terrific little jewel in San Marcos and the restaurant (the grill) was pricey but terrific

It was bad service in front desk. Cleaning service bad too.

Had to change room upon check in. The second room was dirty .

Definitely coming again. Hotel seems even nicer than last time. Staff is great. Restaurant is right on the water. Food wonderful.

I was only there overnight to attend a wedding. My time other than sleeping in this hotel was probably an hour. Even the Keurig coffee machine did not work. Upon checking out they charged me a resort fee! For what? Sleeping? I never used any services whatsoever! I was told - well you get free wifi. I advised them I was not here, I was at a wedding, all I did was sleep and never used your wifi, then the girl says well it's for parking too! If that was the case I would havery parked on the street! $15 for absolutely NOTHING! Never again will I stay here. Had I been here to enjoy the resort, that would be another story. Frankly, put the fee in the price, don't gouge people on false fake additional bogus fees!

Nice cottages by the lake. Great pools and beautifully updated grounds. Hummingbirds by the pool and smores by the fire were a great highlight. A beautiful retreat with great dining and surprising variety of small businesses nearby.

My view from my balcony was absolutely beautiful. Waking up on the lake every morning with all the birds chirping, I highly recommend this hotel. Very clean, the food at the restaurant at the hotel was exquisite as well. I highly recommended this hotel for your stay.

It was nice until this review enough already. You just lost me

The hotel is beautiful! The rooms are spacious, clean, up to date and very comfortable. The view from our room was spectacular. The grounds are kept very clean and the staff was very nice and eager to help.

A relaxing get away- close enough to be convenient but feels worlds away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Totally encompassing and full of things to do, you really feel like a secluded lake side resort, with some of the best food in the world.

Good: Friendly, nice location, very good food, nice workout facilities, lakefront location, fun activities (boat rental, fishing, etc.), nice view at a pretty good restaurant. Bad: 1. In a one week stay, we had false fire alarms go off 5 times (3 in one night). When I finally called, the front desk wasn't even aware that the problem had been going on for awhile. Consistently waking up by fire alarm is not fun. 2. We tried ordering a rollaway which we gladly would have paid for. We were told that by "policy" we couldn't get a rollaway because there were two (small) beds in our room for the four of us. This place has a lot of potential. If they fix their issues of the fire alarm, and empower their staff to make reasonable decisions, I think it could really be a great place.

Took a break from the holiday stress by escaping for a few days. The resort felt exclusive to us since it was in the off-season.

This is an excellent Lakefront location. The only problem with this hotel is it has no bathtub.

The hotel is nice, pool area very nice, it's not close to anything, 1 hour from San Diego 1 hour plus from LA area, 15 miles or so from any beach. Be prepared for very pour bathroom lights around the mirror area, bed pillows are very soft, takes two to prop up your head. However I could recommend the hotel, close to food and gas store and the area is very quiet, no freeway or road noise. nice to walk around the area.

I had a very relaxing healing day in the lake view room. Room was very modern and cute pieces of furnitures. Bedding was comfy and room was very spacious. The only downside I had was I can hear the upstairs guests' foot steps through out the whole night. Overall, I had a great stay, even though the room was great, the balcony was the best part of the stay. I like that the you can park your car right in front of your room. The receptionists were helpful and professional

don't care for the Kourik coffee machines. also one cup each ? not enough coffee.

The rooms are nice and clean. The beds are very comfortable and I slept wonderfully. The rooms are spacious and bright. There's a mini fridge below a small sink and countertop. There are plenty of channels as the resort has Directv. I would return but next time I wouldn't stay in the lakeside rooms. There are little green bugs that swarm the balconies and find their way into the rooms. The person at the desk offered to send housekeeping with a vacuum to suck them up. Another thing that I didn't love was the bathroom door. I prefer an old fashioned door that locks. The bathroom door at Lakehouse was the modern kind that slides easily on a rail on the ceiling. It looks nice but when you're staying with kids, a lock is appreciated.

Absolutely enjoyed this location. Only downside was the large amount of bugs in and outside of room. Loved the room and scenery.

I wanted to get away for a short mini vacation from work and school. This spot was perfect to relax. It's a relatively short drive from the Pasadena. Got there in about an hour and a half. I was able to upgrade my room for a fee a night to the rooms on the lake and it was worth it. I was able to sit by the lake and enjoy the scenery I listen to the waterfall from the lake. Now for the pros & cons. PROS : * Big roomy rooms. The whole vibe of the room was modern, cozy and welcoming. * The view from the room to the lake was nice and relaxing. Hearing the waterfall was therputic. Having a glass of wine @ night or coffee in the morning on the chairs outside was a great to catch up on conversation. Great to get away from the daily stress of work and school. * Being able to enjoy the pool and firepits were great. They even had movies playing while hanging out at the pool. That was great! * The staff was every helpful and was attentive each time I interacted with them. CONS: * Little bugs EVERYWHERE! Now this is more an annoying thing from mother nature that I'm not too sure how the resort can handle. These little bugs are flying everywhere outside. They are clever little things that manages to get into your room when you open the door. Good thing I read the reviews before we booked. We brought bug repellent spray and candles. They worked about 80% of the time. *The room had dead, smeared bugs on the walls. I guess this was probably from people killing the bugs inside the room.

We stayed for a business trip and I brought the family with me. We reserved through ORBITZ for 2 adults 1 child - the description said the room had a pull out. We were put in a very small version (same price) of a king bed room initially with no pullout and no room for a rollaway. The hotel made me feel like they were doing me a favor by offering a roll away (that they normally charge for) and they would waive the fee. The price I was given was not honored for the entire stay. The add on day was a higher rate even though it's at the hotels discretion to correct the errors of ORBITZ.. Other than that the hotel was short staffed, towels were at a premium at pool & otherwise the entire trip/each day. Staff was pleasant and doing there best to stay ahead of things it just wasn't working. We have stayed at the Lakehouse each year for the last 3 years which is why I brought the family and came back to this hotel. The usual complimentary smores at night that the kids look forward to was basically non existent and you had to go to the front desk to request for it to be provided & pay for a kit. In the past when we've stayed it was brought out poolside and was complimentary as the website indicates. The pool tiles. scum line are in bad need of a scrub as oil build up has the color looking grey rather than the bluish color intended. All in all we like coming here it just wasn't up to it's normal standard. We stayed Sunday through Friday instead of our usual 3 day weekend sta
