An absolutely beautiful oasis in the middle of once in a lifetime sights. The facilities and on site restaurants are excellent. The only drawback is the sharing of facilities with the sister Ranch. Shared facilities resulted in an afternoon of kids doing cannonballs and racing all around the pool. Still a high end resort type experience.

Stay at the other Death Valley Resort

It is an older hotel so the room was extremely small. We were unable to cool it down to a comfortable level. We had to park out back, walk up three flights of stairs to register and get to our room. There is limited eating places onsite. I suggest staying at the other Death Valley resort. We visited there and it was much nicer.

Enjoyed our stay here very much. The added resort fee is irritating when paying over $500 for a room.

Not bad as long as you can walk

We had a pleasant experience at the hotel. People with mobility issues should be warned, the hotel is not ADA friendly. There is a small single elevator but it manages to be a long walk from everything. You won’t be able to tour the garden and getting in and out of the pool area will be a project. That said, the room was clean and comfortable with convenient outlet placement and at least the hotel is back to offering a room refresh each day even if it isn’t full housekeeping. What do you expect for $800/night? We liked the restaurant overall although they did try to serve us raw pork one night (they apologized, made us another and comped us a dessert). We really liked the evening fire by the pool and the gentleman who helped us with a golf cart ride in and out of it. The common areas of the hotel are stunning. The stargazing from the roof was a treat.

Nice stay right inside Death Valley National Park. Be aware that there are cheaper options at Stovepipe Wells. I think The Ranch, which is just up the street and the sister property to The Inn is also a bit more affordable. The Inn was very charming. Could definitely appreciate the glam factor it must have had in the 1920's.The Inn has some history which is worth reading about. The pool area was lovely, as were the gardens and palm date grove. Hallways in the main area had a weird and somewhat unpleasant smell, but the rooms seemed better. We didn't eat at The Inn, but visited the Saloon at the Ranch for dinner two nights which was really good. We also checked out the ice cream shop at the Ranch. Try their housemate sodas--really tasty! The one thing that I thought was disappointing for the price was that the "coffee bar" that was supposed to be ready at 6:30 a.m., was not. While normally I wouldn't complain about something like this, it seems like the thing to do in the park is get up early and get to some great areas to watch the sunrise, so having to wait 10-15 extra minutes for a coffee was kind of annoying. There were coffee machines in the rooms, so that was an option, but for $600/night, if the coffee says it's ready at 6:30, it should be ready at 6:30.

They had a lock down on the day we checked in. There was a bomb threat. They sent all employees home, so there were no services. No dining anywhere within the area. No grocery. All guests were told to stay in their room but not told why. No "all clear" was given. After we left we gotm14 texts saying there is a lockdown and ultimately an all clear. We know our texts were working fine, so they sent these later. No apology for poor communication or even an explanation. No compensation for services not provided. The subsequent days were fine. The rooms were comfy and there was a shared porch in back of the room which was nice. The WiFi was in and out, and on the last morning the power was on and off too.
