From Chicago to Charlotte

Leaving Chicago

Two airports serve passengers leaving Chicago: O’Hare International Airport and Midway International Airport. O’Hare is located approximately seventeen miles northwest of downtown Chicago and is the larger and busier airport of the two. Midway is located eight miles from downtown Chicago. A taxicab to either airport can cost up to $70. You can save money by boarding a CTA bus or train for $2.25; the bus and train conveniently provide direct access to both airports. If you decide to drive, long-term parking is available at both locations starting at $10 per day.

Arriving in Charlotte

Charlotte Douglas International Airport serves passengers flying in and out of the city. This large airport serves tens of millions of passengers yearly and is located six miles west of downtown. If you’ve booked a rental car on, you can pick it up at one of many car rental companies available at the airport, including Budget, Enterprise, Thrifty, and Hertz. You can also take a bus or taxicab into town. Getting to downtown Charlotte from the airport by taxi will cost approximately $20. Once you get to your destination, you’ll have plenty of options for entertainment. You can visit the U.S. National Whitewater Center, Discovery Place, or Hendrick Motorsports Complex for a fun family outing. The NASCAR Hall of Fame and Mint Uptown Museum are also popular attractions. The weather in Charlotte is mild throughout the year, with average summer highs in the upper 80s and average winter lows in the low 30s.
