If you live in Chicago and would like to get away to the east coast, you can take a short flight and visit beautiful Hartford, Connecticut, a city full of historical and cultural attractions that will suit couples and families alike. You can take the drive to Chicago O'Hare International Airport (ORD), or save yourself the hassle of storing your vehicle and catch a ride in a local cab or bus. In only about three hours, you can fly from Chicago to Hartford.
To jump right into the culture of Hartford, you can visit The Gallery at Constitution Plaza, an art gallery that features exhibits that support cultural enrichment and understanding of the arts. If you are a history buff, the Museum of Connecticut History has antiques and artifacts that will teach you about the history of this beautiful state, including the only Colt Firearms collection in all of Connecticut. If science and technology are more to your tastes, Hartford is also home to The Connecticut Science Center.
The Bradley International Airport (BDL) is Connecticut's busiest airport, so it may be preferable to plan your transportation before you fly from Chicago to Hartford. Although you may want to rent a car when you arrive, Hartford also has CT Transit, which runs buses in and out of the city, as well as many other public transportation options.
