Known for live music and its breath-taking skyline, Chicago is an enormous city. Visitors here can enjoy beaches alongside modern architecture, museums alongside parks and urban art alongside historic homes.
Flights into Chicago Midway International Airport (MDW) land 8 miles from The Loop. To get into the city, take the Orange Line train, which will get you there in under 30 minutes - it is, however, a 10 minute walk to the station, through a subway tunnel.
Downtown comprises The Loop, Near North and Near South, and this is where you'll find most of Chicago's major attractions. Chicago's Magnificent Mile hosts several of the tallest buildings in America, and is packed with upscale shopping and dining opportunities.
Don't miss the world class Art Institute of Chicago, and live music and events in Grant Park. Navy Pier is a tourist hot spot on the shores of Lake Michigan, teeming with family attractions. Kids will love Chicago's trio of science museums too, which you'll find in the Near South district.
Chicago's architecture is astonishing - take a river cruise to view the best of it, or simply ride the elevated trains and keep your eyes open.
On the far southeast side of the city is the Historic Pullman District, offering insight into Chicago's origins as a planned city and its heritage of social and industrial action.
