Hotel Shares Building with Assisted/Public Housing

I stayed at this Holiday Inn in New York City and was very disappointed to learn—after checking in—that the lower floors of the building are not hotel guest rooms but appear to be used for some kind of assisted or public housing. This means there are full-time residents sharing the elevators and common areas with hotel guests. For the price I paid (around $500 per night), I expected a standard hotel environment with proper guest security and restricted access to guest floors. Instead, anyone from the lower residential floors could freely access the hotel floors, which made us feel uneasy throughout our stay. Had I known this in advance, I never would have booked this property. This kind of information should absolutely be disclosed on the hotel’s listing so guests can make an informed decision before booking.

Ugly blue film on the windows, stinky air freshener in the lobby and constant smell of pot in the hallways. The staff were all very kind and welcoming and helpful. Really enjoyed our stay here and appreciated the clean rooms every day.

There were tarps and something metal outside on the walls smacking against the building right outside our window. Completely unable to sleep due to the noise being so loud and they stated they were full and could not change rooms. Show handle just kept spinning in a circle and the water would not turn on
