The staff is friendly and the rooms are very clean. If you take advantage of the breakfast and dinner it makes the room rate even more affordable. Breakfast is pretty good, same selection as most hotel chains. Dinner is ok, but little variety. The selection seems to be the same every night. Hot dogs, nachos, baked potatoes, soup and salad.
This place was very accommodating during the eclipse weekend. There was a nice spread of snacks and breakfast. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The parking lot was nicely arranged and lit for parking safely.
Our stay at this hotel was awesome!! The entire staff was so friendly and helpful!! Every part of this hotel was super clean!! And the kickback evening snacks were plentiful and amazing!! They had chicken fingers, salad, hotdogs, potato bar, pasta and popcorn! The breakfast was just as wonderful!! Everything was really good and fresh! Would definitely stay here again and highly recommend!!!
Our family came to St. Joseph to move our daughter into college. During check in the staff asked what brought us; and when we told them, they genuinely seemed to share in our excitement. Our entire stay was very pleasant. The room was clean and comfortable, the pool was perfect, and breakfast was a great start to move in morning. However, waking up to a hand written note, placed under our door, wishing our daughter the best was something that made our stay spectacular! It really is the little things that mean the most! Thank you, Drury Inn staff. That simple gesture ensured that we will always stay here each time we come to visit our daughter.
Recently stayed at the Drury Inn & Suites in St. Joseph MO. The staff was fantastic and worked hard to make the trip perfect. Each room has a pack of eclipse themed snacks (Eclipse gum, Moon Pie ad Sun Chips!). Evening reception and breakfast was good. The rooms and hotel were very clean. Staff attentive to out needs. Great experience. Would definitely stay at this hotel if in the area again!
Was on our way to Omaha and decided to stop for the night. Did not have a reservation set up before arriving. The lady at the check in desk was really nice and helped with our accommodations. Was able to get a great rate for one night. The room was really nice and clean. The next morning I used the computer to book a room in KC two nights later and got an even better rate with the help of the lady at the front desk. Love staying at Drury and it made our trip even better.
Located right off I-29, it is easy to enter and leave. Hotel is clean, staff is friendly. Meals available for guests, both breakfast and dinner without extra cost. Bathroom did not have an exhaust fan which is badly needed at shower time. Breakfast is typical motel fare. Dinner seems to be always the same with salad, hot dogs, baked potatoes, etc. Alcoholic drinks available with dinner if so desired. Very little variety if you stay more than one night. Motel is a little more pricey than some in the area and may be because they do serve more food.
I wish we had a better experience and could give a better review. We stayed overnight on Tues 8/8. The check in process went smoothly. When arriving in our room, we found hair on all but one pillow and in several places between the sheets on both beds. We had spent the prior 3 nights camping and this hotel stay was to be a bit of 'luxury' at the end of our vacation. Since we had already taken our luggage, cooler and 4 totes full of supplies to our room, I didn't have the energy to go down to the lobby, pitch a fit and move it all to another room. We could only assume/hope all the hair (my daughter stopped counting at 11 strands) was from our housekeeper 'Felicia.' But still, yuck. We also found hair in the shower. They don't provide trash bags in the trashcan either. I thought that was weird. The TV was on Spanish narration, not closed captioning, actual narration of every move everyone took. We got that resolved after 1/2 hour and were good to go. Oh and they clock in the room, which I assume most people ignore, was off 7 1/2 hours. My point being, they do not pay attention to much of anything with regard to housekeeping. The hotel is old and shows it's wear in hallways, rooms and the pool area with the crumbling surface in the hot tub. However the lobby and dining area are both modern and well maintained. Hospitality staff were all kind and welcoming in our encounters. The dining amenities are to a level you won't find elsewhere. They offer popcorn and pop nearly all day, a full meal with free alcohol beverages in the evening and an abundance breakfast offerings. Staff maintained the buffet and was delivering food to tables of several guests. The hotel had a lot of traveling workers. They warned for our safety, not to park to the north of the hotel as there are nightly vehicle break-ins on site. This area only had company trucks in this part of he lot (explains that!) We apprecited the warning and moved our vehicle elsewhere. The same men partied late into the night having a gathering in the back of the hotel grilling out and drinking. Once in our room we didn't hear a sound. So I would say it's a quiet hotel. No internal noise either. With some additional training for housekeeping I could have easily given 4+ stars.
Drury always goes above and beyond with their guests. The staff made us feel important and valuable by asking us about our plans, and actually made some very helpful suggestions for our trip. It was as if they liked. Helping us!
Last year we sold our house in St. Joseph, MO, and selected the Drury Inn & Suites to become our "home away from home" when we go back to visit. I am now being recognized as a frequent stayer and I am known by my name. Also I have learned many of the names of staff workers there. One lady in line behind him at the evening kick back told me she was impressed that I actually could speak to staff by their names. We had one bad experience on our first stay. Our frig didn't work and our food was spoiled. When housekeeping reported it to management a gift card for a restaurant and an apology note was on the desk when we returned from visiting family. No one else had done that for us before.
