Holiday Inn Kansas City Downtown - Aladdin

Beautiful Hotel, Excellent Staff

I was in the Kansas City area for an NFL game between the KC Chiefs and the Buffalo Bills and my choice was between renting a car and staying in a hotel near the suburban stadium or staying downtown and relying on public transportation. I'm happy that I chose the latter and that I chose the Aladdin for accommodation. The trolley provided transportation from the train station to 2 blocks from the hotel and a city bus with a stop 4 blocks from the hotel provided round trip transport to the stadium for 3 dollars. The hotel was in a beautiful, old historically significant building. The room was clean & comfortable and the staff was magnificent. Also, the restaurant food was delicious and reasonably priced and available for room service, if desired

Hyatt Place Kansas City Airport

10 minutes to airport and 20 minutes to downtown

We visit K.C. every year and this has been our favorite hotel in K.C. for the money. However, we were disappointed this time. Although the room was very nice, clean, and comfortable, the staff did a terrible job keeping the breakfast area clean and the outside trash cans emptied. The trash can at the west side entrance was overflowing with trash on the sidewalk next to the can for 4 straight days. No one cleaned the breakfast area tables, and the area around the hot breakfast area was filthy on one of the mornings. Breakfast used to include doughnuts and or muffins, but not this time. We also left our room one morning at 10:30 a.m. and when we came back at 9:30 p.m. the room had not been serviced.
