Oak Tree Inn Dexter2.5 out of 5.0

We were here for a business trip for over a week. Each day we left early at dawn and did not return back to Oaktree Inn until 10 at night. After an exhausting and intense day our only wish was to return to freshly made beds with clean linen. This didn't happen. Not once. Each morning we politely reminded reception (Christy and Hope) that we would appreciate if housekeeping could look after our room during our stay. Unfortunately this was a task too difficult for the staff at Oaktree Inn. From the 10 days we lived in Dexter, Missouri we slept in dirty sheets, were provided no water; a basic life necessity and our trash remained untouched. Their excuse for all the neglect and betrayal, a shoe! It seemed that the staff were unable to reach our beds because a shoe was too much of an obstacle to pass!! As an Indonesian from a Third World Country, even the worst hotel in my homeland would be luxury than staying in this place. Horrible.
The only reason I am giving this place a "poor" rating instead of "terrible" is because the manager was friendly and tried to make things right. Hotel lobby was clean and newly renovated which was a good sign. The building our room was in had what appeared to be fresh paint and carpeting. When we walked into our room it looked nice but upon further inspection of the beds, the sheets had obviously not been changed. The pillows looked like they had just been slept on, there was hair on the pillow cases, hair and a booger in the bed, fitted sheet was inside out. The shower was gross with hair in it and a dirty towel behind the door. Carpet had white fuzz all over it like it had not been vacuumed. We called the manager who gave some kind of excuse and switched us to a room across the hall. When we went to switch a staff member was just placing clean towels in the bathroom. If the room was cleaned earlier, why were they just now placing towels in the bathroom? Anyway, beds actually looked clean in the new room, carpet was vacuumed, shower had again not been cleaned and there was hair in the tub and a dirty wash rag hanging from shower head. We gave up and decided to just deal with it not use the shower. I will never stay here again, no one should!
I was in town on a business trip and my work booked this hotel. I was worried about this hotel based on the reviews. I stayed on the newly remodeled part of the hotel and everything was wonderful. Comfortable bed and linens, updated, clean, and very pleasant experience. The front staff was very helpful and kind. I had a excellent stay and would definitely stay again.
if you are going to stay here make sure you have your room booked before going in or the Person checking you in will charge what ever he wants to do. This place is located down a hill and not very visable off the main road. The only advantage of the place is there are alot of restaurants and shops withing walking distance from the parking lot.
As a 4 person family, we are absolutely appalled at the conditions of this hotel as well as our treatment. Oak Tree Inn was just in terrible shape, but worst of all, was the rude and unwarranted treatment by Staff and by Management itself, to not only my wife and I, but our 2 young children!!! On a special note, "Thank You" to the front desk girl Paige, whom was great to our family and very apologetic and kind. We hope you go far and show other staff how guest should be treated. We have since reached out to their Corporate Office and have yet to hear a response by email or a returned phone call. I'm confident that Corporate will resolve the issues. Until then, we just CAN NOT recommend Oak Tree Inn to future guest.
Stay here if you want the staff to give your room key to someone else that is not employed by them and you do not know! Than, said person tries to get into your room while you are sleeping. Not once, BUT TWICE. Than the front desk acts like it is your fault when you complain about this to them. So you talk to the manager "Terressa" and she tells you she will make sure you get a refund. Just to call her on the following Monday and she will gladly take care of it. So phone call is made, and I have sent two emails. It is one week later and there has been zero response. Not to add that when I arrived at the hotel the employees could care less about me waiting to check-in.They were too busy smoking. Add in another fact, that the front desk clerk didn't even bother to give me new room keys to get back into my room after she knowingly deactivated my card after she gave the room to someone else. Horrible safety issues. And worse part is they can care less. WIsh I had seen the reviews here before I stayed here
We checked into the hotel and that went fine, went to our non-smoking room that was so smoky and stinky that we requested to be moved (never had to do this before) and the girl at the desk was very rude about it. Moved to our new room and it was not cleaned from the guest before. I informed the front desk (same rude girl) said they would get around to cleaning it but it wasn't their fault since I had a problem with the first room. That night we went to sleep and at 2:30 in the morning a woman with suitcase in hand came in to our room. I called the front desk and she said the woman was supposed to go to another room, I questioned if that was the case why did her key open our door which she did not have an answer for. We relocked the door with the security lock and at 5:30 we had a gentleman trying to open the door because again the front desk tried to give him our room. I called the front desk again and was told she had no idea what was going in and said she was sorry. At 7:30 we had the third person try and enter our room that night which was house keeping. I asked why they were trying to clean our room at 7:30 in the morning. She told me that the computer said the room was empty. I asked how this could be possible since they rented that room 3 times. I called the front desk for the third time and as able to talk to the manager. She did apologize and gave us the room for free but that did not help with the lack of sleep. I would not recommend this hotel at all!!!!
Sorry to say that staying at this hotel was not a good experience. Also upon checking out we were not asked about our stay. It took 35 minutes to check in although I had a confirmed reservation. We were the only ones being checked in at the time so was just a matter of inexperience and new person did not ask for help from manager for 20 minutes. The toliet ran all night and there was a grinding noise in the wall. We had to ask that our room be cleaned when we came back at 2:45 in the afternoon. The sheets felt like they were not cleaned or rinsed properly. The bottoms of our feet were black from the dirty carpet in the room. Several people smoking at the front entrance was a disgusting welcome to the hotel. One positive was that the black out curtains worked nicely to keep out the light.
Worst hotel i've ever stayed in....staff unprofessional, rooms stink, AC broken, requested room cleaned and needed towels; never happened. Everytime we went outside staff was sitting on benches smoking. Front office had stacks of pillows on counter, staff lingering around gossiping about guests that just checked in. You stood at counter and could see straight into linen/laundry room. Fitness room had no privacy, window located in lobby shows through to fitness room. Beds were comfortable but it was difficult to get into them because they were up so high. Just go stay in Sikeston and save yourself some hassle.
I booked my room on the Oak Tree Inn website on 6/2/2016 and had a confirmed reservation. When I arrived on 6/4/2016 about 7:00 p.m. the young lady at the front desk told me they had no rooms available. I explained I had a confirmed reservation and she said their computers had been down for several days and there was nothing she could do. When I asked to speak to a manager, she said the manager was out of town and she didn't know when she would be back. She made no offer to check with other motels to see if anyone else had rooms. Side note is the parking lot had many empty spaces, so I can't imagine all their rooms were full.
