This is a sweet little hotel in the perfect location. Parking is the most inexpensive in the City and very convenient & safe. The hotel is a classic old hotel with small rooms that feels like you are in a European hotel. There are wonderful cafes nearby and the cable car stop is half a block away. Union Square's plaza is two blocks away. The only thing we noticed this stay is there wasn't a hair dryer in the room but those may be available on request? We have stayed in many Union Square hotels and others in different parts of the City -- some much more expensive also -- but this has become our first choice!

Location was wonderful. Lots of restaurants and things in the area and the cable car stop was right at the end of the street.

Everything was pretty much nearby and easily walkable. Hotel offered all day coffee and breakfast everyday. Seems like they renovated little bit since we came last year which was great to see. Will be coming back to stay here again definitely!

Well kept hotel. Very friendly staff. Great transportation nearby. Close to central shopping district. Nice and simple breakfast, but I’d recommend a second coffee machine for breakfast hours. Safe neighborhood.

Perfect little hotel in the heart of Union Square. Parking was safe, inexpensive; room was small but clean, quiet, and safe -- similar to European hotels. Walking distance to the theatres, restaurants, shopping, and more.

I booked early and got a great rate of $100 a night. That was a good price considering it was half a block from Powell Street cable cars. Location and price is why I have it the rating I did. The room card said it normally goes for over $200. I would not pay that. This is a very basic hotel. No dresser in my room and the very friendly staff say, yes, some don't have dressers. So ask for a dresser if that is important. But apparently then you don't get a having closet. Huh? The room was large, and there was plenty of room for a dresser. The bath was also large. No dresser, no ice bucket, no coffee maker, no refrigerator in the room no vending machines. Elevator had a nasty smell of machine oil. But it was only $100 so I'm not complaining, just have your expectations low. Free water and ice in the lobby, and 24 hour free coffee. Staff was very nice, and at night they lock the front door and you use your key card to get in. That's good. Dispite it all I would stay again because of the price and location.

Great location Great staff Clean Very convenient

Safe, affordable, convenient and comfortable. Thank you. My kids and I will be back on our next trip to San Fran.

Very basic hotel, however the staff was super friendly and the cost was fantastic. Room was incredibly clean, lobby is adorable. Would definitely stay again.

It's more like a nice hostel, but it offered free wifi and coffee, tea, and pastries, which the W didn't. It's more of a room just to crash in, but it was very clean and well-maintained, which I prefer over frills.

Great staff. Good value for the price $100. Safe neighborhood w/ many, many dining options. Great transportation nearby. Close to central shopping district. Very, very clean hotel.

Decent hotel that served our needs. Fair value for the price. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Would stay here again if visiting Union Square.

Dates but comfortable. Cute little rooms with everything you need. We are easy keepers so a comfortable bed and hot shower keeps me happy. Shower curtain a bad fit for the space, but otherwise we would stay here again.

Close to many attractions and good access to others by bus. Great value. Continental breakfast could have more variety (not only pastries).

Friendly staff, central location, clean, no frills. Vintage

Having air-conditioning would be nice as the room got very warm.

I liked that it was close to everything downtown and by that I mean walkable. I didnt like the hairdryer, they need to upgrade asap. Other than that I wish there were a mini fridge too

Outstanding front desk staff. The most well maintained building I’ve ever seen. Large closet and bathroom. Many, many dining opportunities nearby. Close to downtown. Very clean. Nice breakfast. Good towels. Powell cable car 1 minute away. Many public trans lines nearby. Much shopping within 5 minutes. Though, the shower curtain rod (rm 202) was placed poorly. The shower curtain deflects onto you while you shower.
