Great beach and pool area. Had several maintenance issues in the room but all were addressed. Enjoyed our stay.

All I can say if you want peace and quiet this is the place to be. Food, family, entertain.

I would recommend this location to anyone looking for friendly staff, beautiful beach, a lot of fun, and a wonderful atmosphere!

Decent hotel. Friendly staff. Right on the beach & about 30 mins from downtown playa. Noisy from construction at 9am every morning- the monkeys made noises from anywhere between 4am-7am daily. Also waking us up. It was nice to be able to go to the 2 other riu's I liked Riu playacar WAY better.

Wonderful time. Beach is beautiful, water crystal clear. Went snorkeling and saw sea turtles. Swam with Dolphins and that is a must. Food is ok. Drinks ok. Pools nice. Room clean and cool.

LOVED IT! Amazing beach, staff, and food! Very clean... Great family resort.

free wifi was only available in the lobby - room wifi was available for an additional charge of $10.00 USD/day; all restaurants with the exception of the Steak house, were all buffets; the international buffet had the same food as the restaurants, so no specialty was offered for restaurant service; room air conditioning was not enough to keep the room cool; the shower was not private, and there was no door separating the bedroom area from the bathroom so we had to put a towel over the glass shower door for privacy when each family member showered; even though we booked a room with 2 queen beds, were were given a room with 2 double beds pushed together; the pool was incredibly warm to the point where you sweated more in the pool than out of it; there was no waiter/waitress service on the beach or at the pool area; there were no huts on the beach for shade; there was no room service

Pleasant staff provided excellent service; the beach was all sand, all clear, all pleasant. The food was acceptable, the drinks where everywhere. I loved the location of this hotel, I venture to say within walking distance of Playa del Carmen fifth avenue; however, my wife did not want to make the about 25 minutes walk. A couple of times we took the taxi to go to Playa del Carmen, if you take the taxi at the hotel it cost 90 pesos, if you walk outside the hotel and take the taxi, it cost from 50 to 70 pesos, we did the second. Security in all these areas is excellent, so there is more risk walking outside your house in Chicago, than going outside the hotel. A very beautiful place.

Staff was friendly. Nightly entertainment was excellent. Beach and grounds were beautiful. Food was ok, as to be expeted for buffet style all inclusive. Rooms could use a good cleaning and maybe a fresh coat of paint but weren't too uncomfortable. Good place to stay!

This is the second time I return to this hotel. The beach and bars are great. Friendly staff.

Resort and room was very clean. Great beach, cleanest beach around, they really did great with upkeep on it. Drinks were good, if you want stronger drinks just ask for a double is all. It was nice to have a fridge in the room with water, pop, beer, and hard liquor to mix anytime you want. Safe in room with no charge to use was nice too, some resorts we heard charge extra. Staff were happy and willing to do what it takes. Food was good but not great. You could always find a chair to sit or lay on at the pool or beach. They had activities to do during the day at pool and evening shows they put on.

The resort and staff were wonderful. The restaurants and the food were fantastic. Will definitely stay here again

The place is beautiful. There are many people taking care of the grounds at all times. Wait staff clearing and cleaning immediately. Food is plentiful. Drinks are good. Pools are nice but shallow and once you're in them don't look in the water. The rooms have a modern appearance but when there long enough you notice the little things. Minibar (fridge) has to be adjusted to be cold. And when I asked for more beverages, was told it was only done at certain times and could not be brought to room. Several rooms have a smell to them. The food in the main buffets are exactly the same every day in each RIU I entered in the hotel zone. Definitely need to make reservations for dinner at the other resturants if you want something better. Nice shopping area and Starbucks with free wifi just a 10 minute walk away. Beach and view of Caribean Sea is amazing, especially at sunrise. All in all, even though some things were not the best the place is still nice and a good place to stay. I would stay there again.

The resort staff was wonderfull the restaurants are good but the mexican restaurant need to do something with the mosquitos no good

Please include wifi Inside rooms!! That is the only thing RIU Yucatan needs to be the perfect resort in Playacar!!!

Very enjoyable for a short get away. Very humid time of the year (Aug) with little a/c. Great staff, pools, fishing, and transportation. The main buffet was excellent but the specialty restaurants somewhat disappointing.

My boyfriend and I went the first week of June and had no problems with this resort. It was our first time traveling together and wanted something fun. Riu Yucatan was just the place! It was our first time here and loved it. The staff was really inviting and nice and the resort was clean. The Riu Fun staff was an awesome bonus to the resort and we were never bored. No problems with reservations, room, staff, pool, etc. The beach had a lot of seaweed but that is due to later rain season. My boyfriend and I would love to come back here and would recommend it to anyone!

My stay at the Riu Yucatan was wonderful. The staff is very friendly. The activity coordinators have a lot of energy and really do their very best to make sure everyone has fun. The rooms were very spacious. The shower set up is a bit odd. The toilet is in a separate room, but the shower and sink are not enclosed, which wouldn't be a problem if the shower was not clear glass. Makes it a bit awkward to shower if you are staying in a room with friends. The food overall was good as were the drinks. I felt for what I paid I got a good value. I would definitely stay at Riu Yucatan again.

Loved this hotel. Service was unbeatable, they were at your beck and call. The cute monkeys in the trees were a cheerful little surprise. The food was generally pretty good. The meat wasn't good though. The employees at the pool were so upbeat and nice. Everything was comfortable and clean. Beds a little hard but you got used to them.

The location of the hotel is amazing. It is only a 25 min walk from Playa del Carmen's 5th avenue. Staff was friendly, food was amazing and of course the beach was the best. Food from the buffet was very good. The menu from the reserved restaurants could be better. I was expecting a more gourmet experience like other All-inclusive hotels, but it was fine. I would recommend this hotel, and I am hoping to return to Riu Yucatan for future vacations.
