The staff is always friendly and helpful, the property is lovely, and the wine and cheese hour is great! I have stayed here twice, and very much like the hotel, but each time I've stayed, there has been a very loud noise that goes on through the night and morning that I don't know the origin of. It's not noise from another room. It is consistently the same loud, heavy thud, at all hours. I'm a very light sleeper, and it's the only thing that detracts from this wonderful hotel.

I asked for a view room, and I got a room on the third floor of an eight story building with a view of the ugly building, directly across the street. I also did not like the fact that I paid $15 for an ice cream and a snickers bar. The room itself was OK, but the bathroom sliding door was broken. I had to manually push it open and close.

We truly enjoyed our stay at Mark Spencer Hotel. The room was clean and our expectations were met. A nice small cozy hotel located in Portland surrounded my cafes and restaurants-many options to choose from.
