Nice, cozy room. Very clean and well maintained. Hotel was located perfectly in downtown Portland, close to numerous cafe's and tav's. Had a nice stay.

Pleasant, friendly staff. Comfortable rooms. Good continental breakfast with enough variety. Nice library room for reading & relaxing. Coffee available all day with afternoon tea & wine-tasting. Very convenient location for exploring cultural Portland & outstanding neighborhood restaurants.

The hotel is located in a great spot, good for walking to many areas. It is a pretty hotel and has great service, including wine and cheese tasting every afternoon, good continental breakfast, and great helpful front desk. The room was very comfortable, with nice bed and linens. We had a great stay there.

I was given a room next to a room that was being redone. It was extremely loud and woke me up. Why did they assign me or anyone else this room when they knew it would be a problem that would cost people sleep? Awful night.

Convenient to rail lines. Clean and surprisingly quiet considering it is in a popular area and the rail runs by. Staff is courteous and helpful. Our only disappointment was that the hotel has no bar.

The biggest downsides were the super soft bed, which provided no support and the extreme humidity of the room once one has used the shower. It never quite went away. Those two things made the experience a stay I wouldn't want to repeat. If you like very soft beds you won't care, but beware the humidity (even with the a/c on). The staff was very pleasant and accommodating, the toiletries smelled great and weren't harsh. The location couldn't be better. If the problems were addressed I would recommend it wholeheartedly. But as it stands I wouldn't go back. I can't rate the food as I never took advantage of that portion of amenities.

The rooms are beautiful and very comfortable - with modern kitchenettes. The hotel is near good food, coffee, etc, and in a nice part of downtown. I would definitely recommend. My only complaint is that we were given a parking pass for two days but not told that it was going to cost $45.

If you are expecting service, this is not the place for you. If you come to expect exceptional quality don't bother. The staff here cannot think for themselves and even when I reached out to management, no one addressed my concerns. Read the fine print because they invent policies.

Great place. I would stay again. We had a great stay.

We stayed here last year and came back again this year. Rooms are very comfortable and clean. Excellent location. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful!

Clean and friendly. Lose the everything! One of the nicest hotels in Portland. Nyc feel to it.

The Mark Spencer is in the heart of north downtown, a block from Powell's Books and half a dozen great restaurants. There's self-service parking in the basement at $20 a night, a good (if basic) continental breakfast in the morning including a machine that can make you a quick caramel double-shot mocha, and free wine tasting in the afternoon. It's an older hotel that's still being brought up to date, so the rooms are smallish and there was some construction noise during the work day. But the staff do everything they can to make you comfortable, it's quiet at night and the bed is perfect. We found it to be priced right and just right for our needs.

Cool apartment building converted into a hotel but the room I was in looked like it was from the 80's. Outdated and heat didn't work. They couldn't fix it or transfer my room. The next morning, I took a shower and the hot water wasn't really hot, just warm.

Such a great location in downtown Portland. We walked to a lot of brewery public houses and shops. We took the bus 5 minutes to many other breweries. The staff was very friendly. The room was not "cookie cutter", it was cozy and had the best bed. The wine reception and breakfast looked good, although we didn't partake. We will definitely stay again when we return!

This hotel was excellent in every way possible. I like remodeled hotels with a history. This one was well done in its remodeling despite the age of the building. The staff was extremely helpful in local recommendations of food, drinks and places to visit. This hotel is in a great location, within walking distance of everything! I loved it!

Stayed for 4 nights. Loved the kitchenette. Target and Wholefoods within 5 min walking distance. Pearl district within 5 min walking. Loved afternoon cookies, wine tasting.

We were quite impressed by the friendly and helpful bell staff and front desk. The room is a blend of modern comfort and retro kitchen appliances. It was quiet and comfortable. Step outside for a short walk to many choices for dining and cocktails. The area is safe, with many people out on the streets.

Rooms have been beautifully renovated. TV's are gorgeous. Beds are very comfortable and the sheets are the softest we have experienced anywhere. The proximity to Powell's Book Store is the main reason we always stay here, but the hotel stands on its own. Staff is helpful and courteous. Wine, cheese and crackers Happy Hour, breakfast, cookies and coffee in LIbrary add to enjoyment. Our room could have used a small refrigerator, coffee table, and/or footstool.

Beautiful building, nice rooms, and just a block from Powell's City of Books and lots of nice pubs and restaurants. I've stayed here before, and I'll stay here again.
