Courtyard by Marriott Oklahoma City Airport3.0 out of 5.0

I should have known something was amiss when I booked a room at a Courtyard for $105 a night. Upon arrival, I immediately saw why. The property is very old and it difficult to tell if it was once another hotel that Marriott bought and attempted to revamp or if it was simply very old. The first thing I noticed is that front desk staff was dressed as though they doubled as housekeeping personnel. One young man had a shirt and tie but the remainder of the staff were dressed in very casual street clothes. I entered the elevator and found that most of the overhead lights were burned out. The room definitely let me know this was a very old property with it's popcorn ceiling. Marriott did do a pretty good job of dressing the room up with paint, wall art and furniture, but it stopped there. The toilet ran and dripped constantly, The balcony floor was covered in what appeared to be very thick mold and there was a piece of old roofing shingle in the middle of that muck. Add that to the left over filter in the coffee pot from the previous guest, and I realized that there is a housekeeping and maintenance issue at this hotel. The room was quite and, except for the running toilet, I was able to get a good nights sleep by keeping the AC fan running all night. All in all, I received about what I paid for at $105 per night.
We stayed here before an early flight and parked our car there for free. Originally they gave us a room in the wing where elevator wasn't working and there was no way we could lug 4 suitcases up and down stairs so we were moved to a ground floor room which ended up being a suite-we didn't know Courtyards had Suites. Of course, there is no free breakfast at CY so we brought our own muffins. Not sure what is offered in Bistro-there is a Cracker Barrel next door. We used the hotel shuttle the next morning which was very efficient. Unfortunately on our return, there was a shuttle just outside luggage pickup and we piled in with two airline crews. We were only about a mile down the road when we had a flat-that was a first! They sent a smaller van for one crew and the rest of us waited while they tried to work on the tire and finally sent a taxi-it took us about 35 min to finish the 2-mi trip to hotel-we got there just after midnight. It could happen to anyone anytime-definitely a first.
I stay here several times a year and find it to be a good hotel when traveling. I especially like that I can leave my car when flying for business or pleasure. This is a great salon airport parking. They also shuttle you to the airport and pick you up! Great service!! The rooms are clean and the Starbucks ins a nice touch! They are also located next to a Cracker Barrel which is a personal favorite of mine!! This is especially important since they do not have a free breakfast. You can purchase breakfast, however I prefer Cracker Barrel! The rooms are comfortable and average. The location is very good and close to the airport, food, and shopping!
This hotel was under major renovations in one of the wings for my visit. Although the hotel compensated me well (room price was the same, but got bonus points). This meat using the stairs, using darker, hot, un-air conditioned hallways. The rooms were dated, but ok. I guess the plan was to refurbish them along with this work. The kicker was that the power kept cutting out. At one point, it cut out for the majority of the night causing the room to be pitch black (no emergency lights), hot and causing me almost to miss the alarm for heading home.
I've stayed at the Courtyard a few times when flying out of Oklahoma City. On the plus side, the hotel is convenient to the airport and offers a shuttle service. The rooms are clean and the staff is friendly and helpful. For travelers without cars, there is a Cracker Barrell cross the street within walking distance. The check-in process super-easy (especially if you do it online). There is a bar on site, but I did not use it. There is a pool and from the sounds of the children playing in it, it must be nice. There are also patios off the room so you can sit outside. In the past, my stay has been satisfactory, but this trip, the air conditioner never seemed to cool the entire room, which made sleeping difficult. In all fairness, however, it was the end of July and OKC was having a heatwave. Other drawbacks; the bed is fine but the pillows are the cheap kind you get at Wal-Mart and weren’t very comfortable. There is a breakfast provided but because of the time I had to leave for the airport, I wasn’t able to try it. Most Courtyards offer the same thing, however, so don’t expect a lot beyond the standard hotel fare. If you are just looking for a place overnight that is close to the airport and not terribly expensive, the Courtyard will suffice.
Nice comfortable rooms. My room had a desk and sitting sofa and small fridge. The bath was ok. The tub shower could use and update. The halls are a little dark in lighting and decor for my taste but nice. There is a small work out room and outdoor pool. The lobby is very nice and inviting. It looks pretty new. Plenty of seating and power ports in the lobby. There is a small bistro and bar. I had a French dip and it was excellent but I thought the portion was small. The staff is very friendly and hard working. There is an airport shuttle. Wifi is free on the room. There is a restaurant across the street or the van will take you to restaurants within a three mile radius.
This is an off-the-road Courtyard that was wonderful for myself and my wife. We were impressed when we entered and greeted by the team. The room was clean, the lobby was very comfortable (so I could do some work) and the Bistro food was hot and fresh. We will definitely stay here again as we travel.
Must admit this is not on par with the average Courtyard by Marriott facility. Even Marriott only gives it a Category 1 rating. About as basic a "hotel" as it gets; it probably classifies more accurately as a motel. The facility absolutely requires a total overhaul and remodeling and is incredibly overpriced for the quality. The only reason I didn't leave the same day was I was given the substantially reduced military rate and received a free upgrade to a suite as a Marriott Platinum Elite member. The one outstanding exception to this highly unexceptional facility is the staff. The staff are truly delightful and try very hard to satisfy the guest. And given what little they are given to accomplish this, they deserve a hearty KUDOS for their friendliness and attentiveness.
Very disappointing hotel for a Courtyard. The hotel needs to be updated and cleaned. The elevator was not working the day i was there. The bath room had stains on the ceiling and the vent was covered in lint.
Hotel is fine - it's been updated with carpet and furniture and paint. It's clean - although on the patio there's a beer bottle that should have been caught. The gym needs an eliptical - it has two treadmills and a bike. The server at the bistro was really good - warm, friendly. I'd stay here again - but it's not my favorite. A few miles from the airport.
