If you're looking for a Hotel that is minutes away from TimeSquare and Central Park , look no further!! I must , I shall give the Hotel Manager Theresa a big thank you, she took care of me and my wife's needs. My wife and I took the subway for the first time , and travelled about NewYork with ease thanks to Robbie Moss the front desk clerk!! Robbie went over and beyond his duties . Thank You Robbie so much for taking your time explaining the Subway system and how to maneuver about New York. Thanks to Robbie we covered NY in a day and a half .

This was my second trip to NYC and my second stay at The Moderne. The staff is wonderful--very friendly as we are coming and going. The room isn't big but serves our purpose of a good night's sleep. You cannot hear anything from the other rooms except in the hallway. I'm not in the room enough to be concerned with the view. i wish there was a mirror in the main room to help when two people are getting ready at the same time since the sink and mirror are in the bathroom. The grout in the bathroom needs some repair. The coffee cake, apples, water and coffee machine in the guest lounge are much appreciated. The elevator is a bit slow so staying on a lower floor might be advisable. It is a great location--close to Central Park, Times Square, and subway stations.

Check-in was very quick and easy, even though we were early. Front desk staff incredibly courteous. Room was perfect for two people staying for just two nights and even had a safe and mini-fridge. Comfortable bed, clean bathroom. Not sure what more you could ask for.

Tight but cute room, very friendly and helpful staff.

This review is from a few years ago - but this hotel was amazing! Totally plan on staying here next trip to NYC

The room was nice, but the service was below average. Not very accommodating. No wine or beer or room service, either. I would not stay here again.

Nice boutique hotel, like the clean modern room design. Unfortunately it's feeling a bit under-maintained. Hot water handle on the sink was loose and getting it to turn on was a challenge. Rotted wood on molding at bottom of bathroom door frame - possibly from water from the accessible shower? Trim needs a coat of paint. For over $500 / night total I expect better general quality, even in NYC.

No window view, too old, too small rooms, air conditioning not working. We had to move from one room to another several times due to air conditioner not working well, it was pretty hot we couldn't sleep

Friendly Staff & service. Easy and fast check in Small room but ideal for 1 person traveling. Ideal location for NYFW or any midtown business trip.

Very nice intimate property. Try to request a room facing 55th street if possible, but these may be in short supply.

Could not easily find ice, and I guess tap water is safe to drink in NYC?

The hotel was good. The sign on the front of the building which states part of it is not habitable is a bit discouraging.. but it's only for the basement and has something to do with the prior owner. The rooms were decent, although there seemed to be mold or something in the bathroom ceiling. The room is small, but that's to be expected in the city. The staff was friendly and helpful. The location is great and the price is awesome. If I didn't intentionally pick a new hotel for every visit, I'd go back.

I would recommend that you not trust the reviews. This place is run down and dingy. The room was a decent size, but it would best be described as skeevy. It didn't help the experience that my first room had no heat. The room was spacious and the staff was nice, but don't make the mistake of believing that it is some great value for the money.

I've stayed here a few times. It's a great location with several trains close to the front door. You can go anywhere from here. The rooms are in good shape and the second floor lounge is a nice place to take a break and watch the snow fall.

This was my second time staying at the Moderne and I will definitely go back. It is a very clean and comfortable hotel with extremely nice staff. The location couldn't be better - walking distance from Times Square and next to Broadway. It is the best hotel for a leisure trip.

Staff was great. The room was considered a "Loft" which was fair size with sofe and desk but my understanding other rooms are much smaller in size with exception the the PH.

The hallways and public spaces are somewhat grim, and the room was not comfortable. The bath had no space for amenities. Despite the friendly staff, I would not stay here again.

This is a great location but without decent HVAC, it is too hot to rate a return trip. It was renovated and it is quiet but you have to open the window to get any air flow. Hotel staff relocated me but honestly it was just too hot. Very clean and nice strong shower. TV wasn't working properly. Comfy bed.

Creatively decorated, decent internet, super friendly staff, and terrific location make this an excellent choice if you can't really splurge on an upscale hotel, but can spend a little more in the $200/night range. We ended up checking out a day early after a no sleep night unfortunately because the heat in the room was 75-76 degrees, the windows, while they can be open, only open a little (and need to be propped open...with our water bottle!), and the air conditioning does not work in winter. This is because it's an OLD building and the hotel has not invested yet in the upgrade. To their credit, they reimbursed us in full for our stay (2 nights, of which we left after 1), and invited us back when the situation is hopefully corrected. We would stay here again if they do fix it. The staff is very friendly, and the decor charming and creative. The location is steps from Broadway and 5th Avenue etc.

Reasonably comfortable bed with some troubling experience. Only one elevator which was broken at the time I had to leave with all my bags down 6 flights of narrow stairs. No glass between shower and toilet and toilet paper and trash can getting everything else in bathroom wet. Last problem was noisy heater which evidently didn't work at all for some other guests while I was staying there.
