I had one of the larger rooms at the back end of the hall that had obviously been recently renovated. Very nicely done: electrical outlets next to the bed, a refrigerator, pretty bathroom with a great shower head, nice bedding. The entrance to the hotel is easy to miss, next to an Irish bar and one of the Broadway theaters, and the lobby isn't much. But for the very reduced price I got the room for, a great find!

Pretty good option

We just came back from NY. Nice stay overall, with a few details making a difference. I would say this was a nice place and my wife actually just mentioned she'd stay here again in the future. My take on it with more detail would be: PROS: Great location close to everything - Amazing customer service. Shout out to Victoria and especially Franklin, who went above and beyond day and night to help. If you need anything, these folks were friendly and great. Five stars help. - While not full breakfast, you can grab a coffee or a tea at the end of the lobby. Quite convenient as you save money and time that way, daily. Bed was comfortable, everything super clean, pretty nice bathroom. CONS: when we arrived there was no room before check in time (sometimes we get lucky, we were not expecting one to be fair) Went for a walk, got back and got our room, but a couple things were not working. We asked to be changed and that worked well, and after a friendly, short convo we also got a slightly bigger room, too. Rooms are on the smaller side. If you don't mind that, this is a great option, clean, great location and customer service. If you need extra space...hmmm, not sure if they offer even bigger rooms. All in all and for the price (still on the expensive end, but it is not just this hotel, prices skyrocketed in NY lately) a really nice option in my opinion. And my wife's.

Very friendly staff. Room was nicely decorated, clean and with very comfortable bed. Bathroom was modern with nice products. My favorite part was how quiet it was given the Times Square location. I’ve stayed in other hotels in the area that are fancier and more expensive but was kept up most the night with loud street noise. I have a long commute so sometimes stay overnight. I will definitely be staying here again.

My cubicle in NYC

One of the side lamp is not working as well as the light on the mirror from the bathroom! The bed was saggy and uncomfortable. We had to tie up the showerhead so it stays on its place. The towel smelled like chlorine. The staffs were friendly and the location was convenient.

The Shocard is a little hotel with lots of good things. The staff is pretty friendly. The room was clean and the bathroom is renovated. I stayed at a penthouse which has a private rooftop balcony. I loved staying here, it right on Times Square. Victoria is great at front desk, super friendly, respectful and helpful. I really recommend THE SHOCARD!
