Great breakfast and nice hot tub and pool
The drawbacks to this property was poor internet connection, kept dropping. Breakfast option was so-so, nothing to write home about. No clock in room, no TV listing (TV did not have Guide Option). In all fairness, you get what you pay for. We stayed here instead of Holland which was about 3 times the price which makes the trade-off.
Convenient to South Grand Haven. Walkable distance to shopping and dining. Clean facility
Our room has some cleanliness issues. Staff was helpful but completely absent for about an hour the last night of our stay. No one was on duty! Pool was nice but no towels available or last night and the heat lamps weren’t working. Our bathroom light malfunctioned and turned into a strobe light. The bed was great and breakfast very nice.
For the price, it was a good stay. It started with my reservation being for second floor and I was put on the first. Water leaked into my bathroom through the ceiling day one, so then I was moved upstairs. The door to that room didn’t close all the way unless I put force behind it, and then the peg latch had to be shoved and maneuvered to close. There was a distinct gap between the door and frame that allowed me to easily see into the hallway. I’d give cleanliness a 3/5, there was a large, dinner plate sized brown stain on my mattress and I found a few small children’s toy accessories on the floor in my room. The pool and hot tub were in decent shape, towels were a hit or miss on availability, sometimes there were 50 , sometimes there were none. The hotel was relatively quiet, especially of course once I was moved to the second floor. My biggest issue with this hotel was the lack of security. Multiple doors had key card locks that weren’t functional, and at least one door dragged so hard on the ground that it took a good amount of force to open or close it. That, combined with the gap in my room’s door, didn’t give me a sense of safety that I hoped to get from a hotel. I’d stay again, but bring more with me in regards to personal safety.
At check in I was told there was a problem with Expedia and the amount I pre-paid for the room. The clerk had to make a phone call and it took him 30 minutes to get it cleared up so I could get into a room! He was very apologetic and I do not blame him. He said he wasn't allowed to give me a room until the screen changed. Due to the issue with Expedia it would not change so I had to sit there waiting instead of taking a shower and getting ready for bed. I have a very early morning and this delay ruined my evening. I expect a full refund or a some type of credit for another stay. Making me wait 30mins to check in to a room I already paid for is not acceptable. Again, it was not the clerks fault. He could not make the screen open up a room without finding out why it was being blocked. I finally get into a room and the carpet is NOT clean and there is no drain plug in the tub so I could not take bath. To top it all off, while I was in the shower there was a loud repetitive knocking on my door! I yelled I was in the shower and they must have went away. When I got out of the shower I called the front desk about the incident and he said it was a pizza delivery person who must of gone to the wrong room! There are very few people in the hotel tonight. To allow a pizza delivery person to come to the door instead of leaving it with the front desk is ridiculous. Never again at this hotel. There will be a poor review if I don't get some type of credit....
I did like that it was family friendly did not have any issues with the kids feeling unsafe or uncomfortable
This place is run down. They are not taking care of the property. The carpet was filthy. They sent us to a room that hadn’t been cleaned and linens were on the ground. People were smoking on the patio and the smell went into our room. Hot tub was broke and poorly secured. AC wasn’t working. This is a last resort place. Grand Haven is beautiful and this place will not help Grand Haven’s good reputation.
Dirty, remote on tv did not work, smelled like body odor, front desk staff had flat attitude and unhelpful.
Front desk was rude.
Pillows were awful, tv kept turning off and the toilet ran ever few minutes all night
Room was clean and amenities satisfactory. Staff was accommodating and cordial. Breakfast bar was good with cereal, eggs, bagels and coffee and juice. There were no coffee packets in the room but front desk will give them if you ask. Indoor pool and jacuzzi were great. Would definitely stay again.
Had an old wall unit for the A/C and it was super loud and obnoxious. Needed to be updated. Woke up every time the a/c kicked on. Requested another room with a newer unit but they were booked solid. The unfortunate thing is is they didn’t offered to do anything for the trouble. Some of the staff were very friendly and accommodating while others were average.
I was here for a conference. I was pleasantly surprised when I got to the hotel after reading the reviews. Staff were pleasant and helpful, my room was recently renovated and very clean, and the breakfast was good. The breakfast manager was very pleasant and helpful and kept the breakfast room very clean and well-stocked. It is a bit of a pain to carry suitcases up the steps and it is unique to not have someone clean the room everyday, However, I knew this going in and after not having someone clean, I realized I like the eco-friendliness of it. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.
Overall, good experience...comfortable rooms and beds. The motel made the best effort to provide B’fast during COVID (Grab-n-go), so that was appreciated.
