Days Inn Montgomery2.0 out of 5.0

Room was OK but was a "smoking" room and boy was it. There was no phone book, hotel info folder/book or any kind of restaurant/food delievery information. When I stopped at the Front Desk I was told most guest look this info up on thier phones. She then proceeded to look up some of the pizza delivery numbers for me to call. If there was a pool I never saw it or even heard about it. Breakfast was good
It has taken me awhile to write this review but here it is. We are avid seasoned travelers and prefer certain chains of hotels to stay in, Days inn happens to be one of our "go to" brands. WE always seem to get the nicest reception and comfortable rooms after a long hard day of driving. Until now, it felt like home away from home. In all due fairness, it has been the only incident at this chain brand that we have had. On our visit through Montgomery Alabama , after a great experience checking in, we secured 2 rooms , Room 210 and 211 . My wife and I stayed in 211 and my Daughter and grandson stayed in room 210 which is across from us. Shortly after we settled in, I heard my Daughter scream from across the hall. I quickly went to see what had happened. I was met by my Daughter who was crying and holding my 2 year old grandson. I asked her what happened and she showed me that a very heavy mirror had just broken off the wall and was about to crash down on my Grandson's head who was sitting at the desk eating his Happy meal .If she had not seen it start to fall, My Grandson could have been injured seriously. Her quick reaction saved her sons life. I observed the mirror leaning now on the desk against the wall. I picked it up and placed it on the floor where it would not do any damage. I then noticed that the hardware holding the mirror had been damaged probably from a recent room renovation. I reported this to the person at the desk who was very nice but also informed me that it was the second incident of a picture falling off the wall on a quest as he layed on his bed since the renovation. I was quite angry at this point and had considered contacting a lawyer. I was tempted to stop payment for the 2 rooms I had payed for via credit card but decided not to due to the fact that we had to leave in the early am for our vacation destination. I still get angry thinking about this dangerous moment that could have been tragic. I feel that Days inn should reimburse me for the night stay there since it was not a good stop for us. I hope to hear from someone at Days Inn regarding this.....
I reserved a smoking room and when I called before I got there she said I still had a smoking room. Once check in came around I was told no smoking rooms bc of a water problem. So we had to smoke outside or in the car.
The staff was pleasant enough to me. The hotel seemed unusually vacant but it was very close to where i needed to be so it was fine. The room was reasonably clean although it had a stale smell and i slept with the window open for some fresh air. I just can't stomach another malted waffle for breakfast so i didn't take full advantage. I was trying to finish up some online classes between my work and the internet connection was painfully slow. I definitely spent more than the allotted time on that. Had hoped to use the pool but in the 3 days I was there, it never got vacuumed so it was full of leaves.
Only reason we gave rating a 4 star was that the breakfast is only open until 9 am, way too early for vacation travelers. !0 would have been perfect. The rest was a great value.
My wife and I stayed here for 1 night while returning to Florida recently. As are most Days Inn's, this one was a good place to stay. Price was very reasonable. Large room was clean, comfortable king bed. The bathroom was very large, great shower. Plenty of counter space around the sink. Continental breakfast was pretty good, waffles and Danish, cereal, and some fruit. Only a few tables available for eating, get there early! Location was good, many restaurants nearby. Traffic in the area was pretty heavy. We will be staying here again in the future during our trips to Indiana.
The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. The rooms are clean (as clean as old property rooms can be). The carpet really, really needs to be replaced; couldn't stand to put my bare feet on it. The most unfortunate thing is that our room had bedbugs. I came away with no less than 26 separate bites. And, upon entering the room, we checked the beds for the normal signs, finding none. They would have moved us but there wasn't a single room available - filled with Hurricane Irma refugees. There does seem to be a lack of appropriate communication between overnight staff and day staff.
This hotel was doable for the price and circumstance. The room was dusty, dirt was accumulated around the baseboards and corners of carpet. We killed about 7 roaches during our stay. The quilt had several burn holes even though the room was supposed to be non smoking. Make sure to shake your belongings out before going home because you might bring home an unwanted pet. Although the rooms were subpar, the staff was very friendly. It's unfortunate because the hotel is in a nice location and could have lots of potential if the hotel was updated with new carpet and decor.
We enjoyed our stay at this Days Inn as the people there were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was a bit on the skimpy side but enough to get us on the road for a couple of hours before stopping for brunch. Check in was simple as we made reservations in advance and checkout was a breeze. The gal behind the front desk was so nice and helpful. We arrived late and I had to take some meds that I needed milk to keep from upsetting my stomach. I asked if there was a place to get some milk within walking distance for this and she told me she'd get me some milk from the breakfast kitchen to save me from having to walk. I had a moving van so didn't want to get back out on the road. Kindness and a smile meant a lot to us as we were very tired and the rest was very much needed. We have stayed here once before and will again and again.
This place is ok but it could be a lot better. No elevators to get to the second floor so you better pack light. Bring some roach spray they have bugs expecially in the bath room. Check the sheets also they tried to give me a room and the bed was unmade with dirty sheets. Make sure you know your Wyndham I'd number so you can get your points
