Loved that the property was part of the Gulf State Park. Many activities at the park to enjoy.

Everything about our stay was nice except for the parking situation. Unless you want to tote your luggage from 0.25 miles away, you have to valet. The parking is not anywhere close to the building for the hotel and there is not a place that you are allowed to park to drop your luggage off before parking. It was very frustrating. Just pay the extra $10 a day and do the valet! Also, the signage on the hotel is lacking. There is only one location for the elevators and you have to walk through the pool area to get to it. Not a big deal, but it’s confusing when you first arrive. The hotel room was nice and clean. wWe added the breakfast package which I highly recommend, it gave you the buffet breakfast and saved us $40 each day on the cost. We did not use the pool as there were storms in the area each morning we were there, so it was closed, but it looked very nice. The beach was our favorite part. Because you’re in the state park, there is hardly anyone there and made the beach very tolerable with the amount of people. That may be different during prime summer time, but we thoroughly enjoyed it.

Easy beach access Infinity pool food & drink service friendly staff It was quite a walk from the parking lot to the guest rooms

Super clean & the area is beautiful. Staff needs some work. Highly dislike that they force you to use a bell hop to get your things to and from your room so we had to wait for check in and check out bc of course everyone’s coming and going at the same time. Also, there should be more umbrellas at the pool given it’s the beach and people need shade. The 3 umbrellas are not sufficient.

The greatest plus is the proximity to the Gulf State Park. Right across the street and walkable (and safe) with the walking/cycling bridge. Well maintained park. We brought our road bikes and got in a couple of pretty good rides. And there's plenty to do in the area in addition to the park. Overall we loved the area and the views, both in the morning and evening in particular. Beach was a little disappointing due to the northern gulf tides and dead fish. Staff was great, as was the room. The only exception was that our room was right at the entrance to the only elevators and there was no door barrier between the elevator area and the room hallway. It was noisy at all hours of the night there.

Our window was broken/off the hinges/you could hear the road noise all night.

Very clean hotel with great beach access

This property is ok. I do not think it is worth the price. The only benefit is that it is secluded so there is plenty of space on the beach

Enjoyed everything! Facilities and staff were awesome! Definitely going back!

Nice location , clean , friendly staff.

Water on both sides with boardwalk. Nice dining and live music in lobby. Would love a microwave in room to reheat leftovers and coffee.

Secluded and serene.

This property had all kinds of services and nice friendly help. If you are self parking, good luck. People park any which way they want to, so you will most likely have to walk a long ways to get to your room. The air conditioner never really got cold. Just blew air that was cooler than outside. It was set on 64 and didn't feel like 64 or go any lower than that.

The property was filled with beautiful area to lodge around with beautiful sites of the gulf

I really enjoyed staying here. The hotel was clean. Our beds were comfortable. The pool area was beautiful. Everything we ate and drank from the hotel restaurants was tasty although sometimes overpriced. Natali the front desk agent was especially friendly and went out of her way to make our trip better. A microwave in the room is the only thing that this hotel did not have that I wanted.

The lodge is beautiful. Beach side. Great pool. Love the decor, food and ambience. I wish the pool was heated. Kids would have swam more. I wish ease of transportation in the area. No microwaves in rooms so made it harder to keep food/warm things up.

Hi Lisa,We are so pleased to hear you loved Gulf State Park! Unlike regular beach hotels cluttered together along the coast, The Lodge at Gulf State Park is a unique destination on the Alabama Gulf Coast with nature at its doorstep. During your stay, you’ll connect with the outdoors on a whole new level. And in doing so, you’ll be helping the hotel’s conservation efforts to restore and maintain the beauty of this truly distinctive destination. Thanks again!

Hi MacKenzie,We are so pleased that you found your getaway to be great and we look forward to welcoming you back! We appreciate your feedback regarding the parking. For future visits, you do not have to pull your luggage from the parking lot. Please pull around to the front of the lobby and drop off your luggage for the bellman to take care handle. One person in your group can park your car and rejoin you in the lobby or your room. We are pleased to hear you enjoyed our easy access to the beach, as well as our perfect location, away from the condo towers and other buildings. Thanks again for your review. We look forward to seeing you again soon.

Hi Mary, Thank you for the wonderful review! We are so happy you enjoyed your stay with us and that our team provided you with the friendly and personalized service we strive for! We understand your concern with parking. With parking located on the west side of the hotel grounds, no guest rooms overlook the parking lot. All guest rooms have one of two spectacular views…either the majestic Gulf of Mexico or gorgeous Gulf State Park and Lake Shelby. We do apologize if the walk seemed excessive. Thanks again. Come see us soon!

Hi Tracy, We are pleased to hear you enjoyed your overall getaway with us. We follow industry standards in protecting our guests from injury and the property from liability by having a bellman escort guests with all hotel equipment. We share in your sentiment regarding the umbrellas by the pool. Additional umbrellas were ordered months and months ago, however they are delayed due to supply chain issues. We are hopeful the new umbrellas arrive soon. Thanks again for your comments. We hope to see you again soon.
