Hyde Park Suites - Apartments3.0 out of 5.0

There was absolutely nothing wrong with this accommodation. I can't say there was anything ahead of expectations, but certainly nothing wrong. Hyde Park Suites is conveniently located within 2-5 minutes walking distance of Queensway (Central Lines) and Bayswater (Circle/District Lines), giving you prime access to the centre of London. Queensway itself is a pretty busy shopping and restaurant area, boasting Pizza Hut, Bella Italia, many independent restaurants and shops, convenient Tesco/Sainsbury stores - all in all it's well placed. The accommodation, though reasonably basic, is perfectly sufficient. Depending on what you book, you'll get a pretty comfy bed, a well appointed kitchenette (toaster, microwave, fridge, hob, cutlery, crockery) and an en-suite shower. Check in/out is easy, though slightly impersonal; you'll likely not see another member of staff during your whole visit, but this is more due to the type of accommodation this is. We only had two gripes for the stay. Firstly, our shower had two settings; scalding and cold. Admittedly, we did not mention this as it felt more like a fundamental issue with the controls than anything, but we accept that the hotel would likely have resolved this quickly had we mentioned it. Secondly, the windows are quite thin - you'll hear traffic quite clearly and it is a busy street - ear plugs (from your local, convenient Boots store) will be a godsend for you here. Additionally, it was a bit of an inconvenience to have the light switches for the room located by the bathroom - the walk back is fraught with peril as the bed has sharp corners perfectly positioned to crack your ankles....I have two wounds to prove! Would be much better to have lighting controls by the bed in addition! Overall we have no real complaints with this accommodation, but equally we wouldn't be able to pick anything out to make it "special". It was functional, exactly as described and, for the money, perfectly fine for our purposes. I can't say we'd stay here again, but we don't regret having stayed there for our little break.
If all you want is a decent room with a table and tv and cooking facilities then this is a great option. This is not a place for a special stay and this is reflected in the price Would definitely use again
As we were only staying the one night Hyde Park Suites was fine for our stay. The room was small and didn’t look like photos we’d previously seen when booking but it was okay. Beds were fairly comfortable and bathroom was clean and modern. However, we were lucky we’d only brought rucksacks and a small case as we had to ascend about 6/7 very narrow, very steep stair cases. When checking in at Number 30 the concierge was pretty miserable and told us to head down the street to Number 73 and walk up 4 flights. Check out was far friendlier and booked a taxi for us. The stay was okay but had I been with my older parents they would have struggled with stairs. Good location for tube and plenty of eateries and local supermarkets around. However, not sure I would stay again.
I booked this for two nights for my partner and myself. Photos and description of the apartments certainly is misleading. Cramped, very small and no kitchen area which we had booked also. The location is very good however being in close proximity to the town and tube stations, however we would not recommend or be staying in future.
Nice area. Close to two underground stations. Nice people at reception, check in was quick. There is no elevator, so if you have a lot of luggage, you have to drag this up narrow stairs. Room was small, with cooking possibilities. Reception was only open at specific times, so since i had to leave early i was assuming there was a drop of box to put the keys in, but there was nothing. Felt it was a bit strange just to leave the key at the door. I could stay here again if i need a central place and cheap one night stay.
This hotel is in a great location for transport links cafes ,and convenience stores . We booked for two nights myself and two older children to see the sights of London . The accommodation was basic and dated . Our room was on the first floor and had a fishy smell so much so we had to open the balcony door as soon as we arrived . The room does not have air conditioning but two large standing fans were provided , the room was extremely hot even though the weather was not typically warm . The room had a fridge and basic cooking facilities . Tea and coffee was provided but only three tea bags and three milks these were not replaced during our two day stay . On arrival we had three small pillows which was one each I asked for more pillows the next day after a uncomfortable night , these were provided as requested . The living space was basic and had a pull out sofa bed , the other bed was located on a mezzanine floor , this bed was also a double bed but placed very close to the railings of the upper floor banister so would not be suitable for anyone with young children as they could potentially fall . If you attempted to move the bed away from the banister you couldn't access the bathroom . The bathroom was tiny and if you were sat on the loo you had to squeeze the door shut , the toilet sink and shower was small but clean new and in good working order . The wardrobes were dated and musty . Overall we had a fab time in London, the accommodation did not spoil the trip but in future I would spend more on the hotel . I have rated overall average due to location on the plus side .
Photos are very misleading from reality. Suites also misleads guests as the room does not have enough space even for a table. Room cleaning means for them only linen change and garbage removal. The room and bathroom actually appear not to have bean cleaned for several weeks as a layer of dust was on bedside table and during six nights of our stay the bathroom was never cleaned.
+++ Excellent location. Underground, Shops, Supermarket, Pubs nearby. Clean kitchenette with good basic equipment. - - - Disgusting blood stained blanket, clogged bathroom sink. (those 2 problems were fixed the next day). Door lock very unsecure, works only partly. Access to bed only from one side, the other side had a 20 cm access gap only. Bed on a mezzanine (2nd floor), no window there, extremely hot and only a small ventilator. Cheap spring matress result in back ache. We had asked for a higher floor with view to the outside, got 1st floor with view to a ventilation shaft. According to reception, hotel never takes such guest requests into account. Poor value for what we paid.
There was a weird set up to this place. From the name, you'd have expected somewhere really plush and impressive. Unfortunately this is not what you got. We were staying there after the Adele concert that evening. My Mum arrived first and was checking in when I arrived and the check in desk lady had just finished telling her where to go and with a slip of paper. Weirdly, we had to go to a room/building further down the road which felt a little off and strange. When we then got to this building, it was very difficult to get into the building (every time we entered the code, it kept coming up with an error, just as we were reaching breaking point and thinking we'd have to go back down the road and ask for help, luckily another guest helped us when they arrived and he said that things needed to be made clearer and how silly it was. On entering the room, we were so shocked! The room was tiny and the bathroom looked like a built in cupboard / unit, so much so we both thought we must've booked the wrong room and had a shared bathroom down the hallway! Inside the bathroom, the loo & sink were far too close to each other so you couldn't sit properly on the loo (you had to sit at an angle, I'm not sure how a tall or big person would manage). In the room, there was only space for one bedside table as the other side of the bed was the wall/window. There was a dreadful view from the window which was basically overlooking a concrete walkway/half a yard and other buildings. The window was covered by a drab roller blind and curtain but was still draughty during the night. The shower was ok with good pressure and fairly big considering the ridiculously small size of the rest of the bathroom. Basic toiletries (a couple of tiny bottles of all in one body wash and shampoo along with soap) were provided. There was a tv in the room not that we watched it. Similarly there was a fridge too but we didn't it. Tea, coffee, water and two biscuits were provided. Really poor wifi and connection. It actually felt like student accommodation from the 80's or 90's - certainly wasn't worth the money even for the location.
This place is run down. Not nice. I was "upgraded" to a basement room which had a TV that didn't work properly and a bathroom that had a huge step down. If I was any older I wouldn't have made it down the stairs, let alone back up again. It was hot and the only positive thing I will say is they put a fan in my room.
