Location is decent, although room wasn't all that clean. Carpets and curtains are probably have not been replaced or cleaned in past decade. this is a not a 4 star hotel more like 1.5. Towels and sheets all had steins on them and even when they were replaced still the same. The place itself is really old. Room was small but decent size. Either stay at Central or Causeway districts.

Great location in Hong Kong Island, very close to MTR and airport bus. Clean and good size room, friendly staff. I had requested for a non smoking double bed room and got what I asked. Convenient handy phone to use. Overall good experience and will return again.

This is a western-style hotel a couple blocks from the nearest MTR/public transit, making it a convenient option for travelers from out of the country like myself. Most importantly, it comes with a free Handy smartphone to use during the stay! No need for a Sim card or international plan - you can make local calls and use any apps (maps or messaging included) without issue! That alone made it worthwhile for me. Beyond that, the hotel was very comortable and had usual western amenities included, such as soap, lotion, shampoo, comb, shaving kit, etc., as well as a few perks like a minibar, free bottled water, and bath robes. The views are also nice - I could see the harbor a bit through my window. The sheets did have a light stain here or there, but overall the room and facility was great for the cost. Wan Chai is a fairly central area on the island, and a few basic stores were nearby if one would need any necessities. I was in Hong Kong for 5 days visiting a friend and stayed here for 3 nights as part of the trip.

Staff is helpful and friendly! great location! Short distance to Wai Chai MTR station, shopping and dinning. Convenient transportation to everywhere.

The hotel was very modern and updates.. Only problem I had was that they had these air fresheners on the floor in the hallways. Other than that, the hotel is in great location, room was a good size and check in was great.

Great location, and great breakfast buffet for ~$15USD

Nothing special. I like the location. For front desk staffs are mostly impolite, typical young hongky, no experience, beginning job, arrogance. Feel he is hongkonese, smarter than everybody, and he is no nothing, have to learn more... need to see other world...have to learn something!!!

Location was excellent for night life and business. Bathroom was so crammed, even a smaller person would have an issue. Nothing spectacular about the hotel, very basic. The restaurant was in the lower level under the lobby and not very good. Would not recommend eating at their restaurant.

Located in Wanchai, very convenient to go places. Some nice foods within walking distance. Will stay there next time.

Location is this hotel's best asset, easily reachable by MTR, Trams, and Taxi, and walkable to Central and Wan Chai. I think the hotel has been upgraded with some changes in the lobby area, but in my opinion its all cosmetics. The service is OK, but not great, the rooms are functional, but mostly on the small side and by no means luxurious. However, for the value, I would recommend this hotel. I have also noticed that the majority of the clients at this hotel seem to be from Mainland China, so the social conduct in the public areas, including the lobby, might take a bit of getting used to, (if one is not familiar with how people behave in Mainland China !)

location: close to lockhart rd but also close to a sketchy part of town. if you are not leaving or returning the hotel after dark, you might be okay. room cleanliness was really not up to our standards. sticky sheets, mold in bathroom, dirt in vents. if you have allergies, this is not the place for you! wallpaper was peeling off the wall. don't be deceived with the photos as we were, we got there and left the next day. orbitz was great and was able to get a refund for all the other days. lobby is remodeled and the rest of the hotel needs a upgrade badly!

Great location outside the main tourists streams but close to all kinds of transportations (two MTR stations, ferry, tramway and busses). Wan Chai is has also more traditional parts of small town Chinese quarters that give a special flair.

I got a kingsize bed with a quite good maitress and enough room for two. Silent aircon, mini bar were ok, but bathroom wall close bathtub was not that clean for my standards.

Hotel under construction, can't see the front door from the street. Room were dingy, small, and smelly. Hotel staff was understaffed and overworked so any requests took forever to fulfilled. This is where all the tour groups bring their guests so you know it's cheap. Hotel is right next to Lockhart, the red light district, so unless you like sleezy clubs, stay away from this place!

Definitely not a 4 star hotel! Hugely disappointed. We arrived there in a rainstorm and could not even find the front door because the entire front is covered in scaffolding. Then we went inside and the lobby was being worked on, lines at the check in desk and no seating whatsoever. We got upstairs and the hallways were stale and old and the rooms even worse. Dingy, smelly, and tiny. We requested non-smoking and the rooms definitely smelled of smoke. When we called to switch, we were told there was no rooms available. Apparantly, this is where all the tour group bring their guests which means it's cheap and overused. No internet, we called and was transferred to the internet company who finally helped to resolve the issue.

The location is very good near Wanchai Mtr. Room are goods for Hong Kong standard

it was a nightmare. this hotel hs not water for 36 hours. we want a refund for two nights. We change hotels to park lane at 150.00 usd per night. I hope that you can offer mesome type of refund.

Online the hotel seemed like any other '4 star' hotel in downtown Hong Kong, we knew the rooms would be small but we didnt know there would be mold, we didn't realize the toilet would only flush every third time and we didn't realize that the main light in the room was going to only work some of the time. We alertted guest services but it was satisfactory to them that they worked sometimes. The elevators do not have safety sensors and I nearly lost my arm one night. DO NOT PLUG YOUR COMPUTER IN TO THE INTERNET!!!! I payed for the service and as soon as I did mine went haywire and destroyed itself with a nasty virus. There were other minor annoyances as well but I feel like these are the overshadowing important things to know about staying at the Empire in Hong Kong Wan Chai. They were also very fussy about holding our bags when we checked in early and when we checked out early. '30 minutes maximum' they told us at the bell desk. This hotel felt like a 2 star... maximum.

Great location, walking distance to Wan Chai subway, to Star Ferry, and other walking tours. Bustling part of the city. Exchange your money with dedicated exchanger (xcross street) and not hotel or bank. They have best rate. Hoi Tin (sp?) chinese restaurant down one block is excellent (nothing fancy, but great food). Indian restaurant also outstanding. Had the place to ourselves. As others have noted, a bit noisy from street noise or neighbors, but everything calms down at night and had no problem sleeping. Rooms are H.K. small, but well laid out. Safe is too small for laptop (bummer). 110v in bathroom. Shower was great, bathroom tiny. Breakfast was very good, worth the investment, but nothing extraordinary. Only downside, TV was only half functioning. Some kind of weird cable system and remote only channeled up and not down. Audio got weird with any subtitles which of course are on all the time. Had to wait 10 minutes for room, but it was very clean. Concierge stored our bags no problem. Not a 5-star hotel, but really a great value and outstanding location for the price.

I was there just for travelling. This hotel is located in Wan Chai that is very convenient. It's close to convention center, metro station and bus stop.
