We stayed in The Pottinger in late August and absolutely loved our stay. The staff were so welcoming and helpful right from the moment we walked in the door (we had come off a long flight and had hauled our bags around Central on foot to the hotel - about a 6 minute walk if we hadn't taken the wrong turn!). Nothing was too much trouble; staff at reception / concierge, housekeeping and the restaurant team were all fantastic. The rooms were large for Hong Kong, well maintained and very comfortable. We loved the large shower and bathroom in particular. On the first night of our stay, we ate on site at their Italian restaurant, the Gradini. We had hoped to dine at Ta Vie, but it closes at 9pm (perhaps that is a bit early, especially in Hong Kong; my only criticism). The food and service were excellent and the staff made us feel very relaxed and welcome. We also enjoyed drinks at the bar (The Envoy) during our stay; wonderful atmosphere and service. They also do food and it was a fun place to hang out. The hotel itself is in a fabulous location. It is just minutes walk to both Central and Hong Kong stations and also a few minutes walk to the ferries. There is history, cultural landmarks, restaurants and shopping galore all within walking distance. It is truly in the heart of Central, and yet it is located on a quiet side street with very little street noise. Highly recommended for a special stay in Hong Kong!
My wife and i stayed at this establishment as part of our 5 year anniversary trip and we really enjoyed our stay. The location is great as it is on the island and less than a 8 minute walk from Hong Kong station, 3 minute walk to central station and 2 minute to the hop on hop off bus stop. It also take a few minutes to get to Lan Kwai Fong or Soho or the Man Mo Temple. As you can see, the location is great The hotel staff were great and check in was smooth considering we got there at midnight. The room was well appointed, spacious and comfortable, everything you would want after touring the entire day and night. The bathroom was clean and also well appointed. The hotel itself was beautiful, we loved the vintage glass and decor. the staff was attentive and helpful and gave us great suggestions on where to go and when to go. We opted for the breakfast which was not bad but not great either. The options are limited however it was still decent.. You also get phone with unlimited Wifi that you can use during your stay. This came in very handy when booking tickets, finding restaurants and creating hot spot so that you can use your cellphone to connect to. The bar on the 1st floor is great and so were the cocktails and finger snacks.I would definitely recommend this hotel for its comfort and location. We loved our stay and would definitely return when we are in Hong Kong.
the hotel is situated in a great location, close to the bay, to victoria tram etc and in the middle of the shopping district. the public areas and the rooms are old-school elegant. there is great attention to detail, and the rooms are beautifully decorated. a quiet respite in the middle of hectic hong kong downtown. rooms are extremely clean and the bed is super comfortable. they are pretty small though, but i guess that's common in hong kong hotels. there is a smartphone in the room which you can use throughout your trip with free internet and calls - great idea, was very helpful. service was excellent - there was a mixup with expedia and the staff (especially EMILLY) were gracious and came forth with a solution and compensation, and understood our frustration. there is no fitness center. breakfast is basic but excellent quality with fresh produce. highly recommended
This hotel is the second time I visit, the location is very good and Ta Vie is located in the hotel. However: please note that you CANNOT order any breakfast or coffee in the room in the morning! Also there is no Spa or Gym DVE
Wonderful boutique hotel in the heart of Hong Kong! Great location and beautiful rooms. The rooms are small - normal Hong Kong style. But definitely big enough for a short stay. The only thing I would have loved would have been a desk though - as I was working intermittently in my room. The staff were generally friendly and helpful. But I must mention that the cafe staff were fairly rude and inhospitable on a few occassions. We had business guests joining us in the lobby cafe for meetings and the staff seemed as though we were imposing by sitting down. Not the reaction you want when you're hosting clients! Hopefully this won't happen on our next stay! Otherwise a great hotel and experience though. I'd stay here again.
Refreshingly splendid. Unexpectedly friendly and kind. Very beautiful decor and lots of flowers.. so unlike HK, more like a boutique and super friendly stay right in the heart of city! Highly recommended.
We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay here. The room was spacious enough for 2 and the beds were huge! We were impressed with the pillow menu and turn down service. The bathroom was spacious but we were given a wheelchair friendly room so not sure if it was because of that. Only issue was the shower head was too low and luckily we are not very tall individuals ourselves. But the water pressure was very strong and the water was mainly shooting to the opposite wall. Would prefer a normal room next time. I highly recommend this hotel for short stays and 5 star feel in Central.
At very good location, less than 10 minutes walk from Central subway station. Friendly Front Desk staff with efficient check-in and check-out process. Spacious guest room / bathroom compare to other hotels in Hong Kong with similar price range. Good F&B choices and shopping outlets surrounding the hotel. Will be back again.
Was looking for a place in Central as usually stay in Cordis in Mong Kok, like the hotel but not right around it. But The Pottinger was well reviewed everywhere I looked so thought I would try it. Definitely now know why. Staff were great and coming back in each time to the hotel was just as delightful. Probably my new hotel for HK.
We has a fantastic stay at the hotel. There was a glitch with their booking system but they made sure that everything was fixed. The front desk personnel are very friendly and professional. The room was very large and we loved the bathroom. By Hong Kong standards, it was very large and the unique thing is that you could roll up the blinds in the shower (full height window) while having a view of the city but do it with the bathroom lights off! The location is walking distance to EVERYWHERE! Just a short walk to Central station, Landmark shopping plaza, IFC. Right opposite the hotel is a 1 Star Michelin restaurant called Yat Lok and we ate there almost everyday. The street has cafes/restaurants/etc so you're very close to food. There's a building being built down the street and while we were there, they were doing piling and the vibrations could be felt all the way up on the 11th floor. As we were out most of the day, this didn't affect us.
