Clean and quiet. An older style room, so it’s comparatively spacious for Hong Kong. Right in the middle of Wan Chai and Causeway Bay. Very convenient.

I have been a guest many years visited more than 6 times No facility, floor carpet, furniture and old no change since the day i supported the hotel. Staff not welcoming with no reception counter and limited waiting area. Sitting at their cafeteria is not allowed even with our bags due to limited space at their small lobby. Very unwelcoming feeling with no guest or customer service provided and worst not a smile during the 5day stay. This hotel require serious makeever and service oriented priority !

Avoid

The room was ok, the bed was comfy, but the room did feel incredibly dated. Normally these things wouldn't be a problem for me, however, I saw roaches on two separate occasions in my room, and when I called reception they didn't seem to care. Furthermore, after the hours of darkness, a large number of suspicious individuals, I believe to be prostitites, were around the hotel, and guessing from the noises, using it as a base of operations. I will not stay here again and can't recommend it

There were some issues with the room when I arrived (it hadn’t been cleaned since the previous guest) and the key with the new room, which I appreciate is not really a big deal but overall it just seemed that the rooms were not clean. The cleaners also, on different days, hoovered the hallway early morning and asked to clean my room at 8.30am - which is odd considering there were hairs and dirt everywhere. Although the location is good and easy to get everywhere, the lack of cleanliness was an issue

Check in was smooth. I got complimentary room upgrade upon check in. Room was bit dated but clean and very comfortable. It was a shame I was only there for one night. I will happily use the hotel again if I get other opportunity.

Take note their highest-priced Urban Studios are located on the 1st floor. Although the interior finishes were newly renovated, these rooms' fresh air intake is very close to the street level. We stayed a total of 7 nights and ended up changing rooms 3 times (all Urban Studios) because of cigarette smoke, sewer smells and restaurant grease exhaust being sucked into the rooms from street level. There were either staff taking breaks around midnight or guests who smoked before bedtime, so it was a nightly routine that cigarette smell would fill the room. By 9am every morning, the room would smell of grease exhaust from the bakeries and restaurants nearby. The only way to somewhat alleviate the odours was to crank up the air conditioner, which as others mentioned, does not provide heating in the winter. Expect strong cold drafts all over the room while sleeping. In addition, the rooms have exposed ceilings and as others mentioned, water flowing through the pipes can be heard throughout the night. There were also some loud bangs heard in the middle of the night which we suspected came from an in-house commercial laundry or garbage pickup. Floors and showers were generally clean, but not the platforms for the mattresses and large window sills. Take note the hotel is located in one of the oldest areas of Hong Kong Island. There are lots of tradeoffs for being located close to food and shopping in Causeway Bay. Multiple towels had holes in them.

CHARTERHOUSE WANCHAI REVIEW

Great location being under 10 minutes walk to Times SQ and msny buses to Central right in front of the hotel is a plus. Will try the Signature Room on mext visit but not the high floors.The rating wàs for the old rooms if Signature Room which I have seen would be 5 Star rating.
