The Yorktowne Hotel

From the atmosphere of an over 90 year old high rise hotel to the old style elevator and key to enter my room, I had a pleasant stay at the Yorktowne. If I am ever back in York I will stay there again for sure.

This used to be a showcase hotel, but now it old. Some upgrades have been done, but not to full expectations of the modern traveler. The attached parking is closed, and so you have to park across the street. It's address is on Market, but there is no unloading there, and even though there are detour signs to take you around the block because of the 1 way streets, it is not convenient. Our stay was nice. But not enough handy plugs for charging today's electronics. The ambiance is nice, but nothing stellar. I would stay there again, if there wasn't an alternative.

I'm sure 50 years ago, the Yorktowne Hotel was a beautiful getaway. However, the once-fine establishment needs a lot of work. Carpets, walls, bathtub were stained. Everything needs to be updated. For the price, I thought it was definitely not worth it. Location was not great - no coffee shops, restaurants within walking distance that I could find.

The hotel is very old! It really needs some updating. The huge windows in the room had beautiful drapes, however, there were no sheers, and the drapes did not close. Yes, everyone can see in and it got very bright at 5:00 AM. The bathroom door did not close either. Simple fixes would really help this hotel,

I stayed at this hotel for night and I wasn't super impressed but it was a nice hotel never the less. The bed was super comfortable and everything was clean but a little out date. It was little weird that they had a hdtv but no hd channels channels. Overall it was nice hotel.

The mattress was MUCH too firm. The pillows were MUCH TOO firm. The bed was VERY UNcomfotable. There was Alcohol available [they lost their license] Like thedowntown city of York, the hotel is in a VERY difficult situation. It was a LOVELY hotel several years ago when we last stayed there!

This is a beautiful, old hotel whose heyday was decades ago, but despite that, the owners try to keep it up with pretty ambience and decor. The staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious with 2 queen beds and a sofa/sitting area splitting the room in half. The hotel main dining room was very quiet at 7 PM on a Saturday night, (only two tables filled,) which tells you the locals are dining elsewhere.

Friendly staff, clean facility, great restaurant, right in the heart and main stip of York.

Was in town for my daughters graduation and found a gem of a hotel, filled with charm and history. service was excellant, location perfect, valet parking that was prompt and didnt cost an arm and a leg.

Our previous stay at the Yorktowne was wonderful. This time however, we stayed in the stepchild's room. The wallpaper was separating at the seams. The carpet was old and needed to be cleaned. The layout of the room was odd. It was a disappointing contrast to our previous stay.

The staff was great, but Valet parker crashed my car causing 2,000 dollars in damage. The hotel paid for everything, but it was a hassel.

all of the staff was very friendly, professional, and talkative. a very nice hotel for a weekend get away. the location is in the "ghetto" so i wouldnt consider it safe to walk anywhere at night, but the hotel was quiet.

The Yoktown is a nice old hotel with lots of charm and friendly, helpful employees. The 8th floor room was nice, with a beautiful view of a lovely downtown church. Although the hotel could use some updating, it was plenty comfortable with all of the necessary ammenities. The location is great - close to lots of things to do in a nice park of downtown York.

The Yorktowne Hotel is a very nice old hotel in heart of the downtown area. The room was large and well appointed, although the bathroom was bit small. The staff were very friendly and helpful and we really enjoyed our stay. We ate dinner at the bar/restaurant and the food was excellent. As long as you go in realizing that the Yorktown is a stylish historic hotel (not a generic chain), you should have a great stay.

We found dust on some furniture on the ice bucket and the carpet is in need of a good cleaning and vacuum. York is my home town and grew up several blocks away from the Yorktowne Hotel and always wanted to stay there. ( I moved away 30 years ago and went back for MOMS 80th birthday ) Staying there was the low point of our trip.

The Yorktown Hotel is an an excellent hotel. ?The staff was very cordial and helpful. Not only did the front desk clerk recommend one of the best restaurants, he called to make sure that we were completely satisfied with our accomodation. That is serivce. Their breakfast was outstanding and quick, which is essential when traveling for business. The downtown location is convenient access to the restaurants and entertainment.
