We had a group for an event moved here after there was overbooking at another hotel. About a third of the rooms are renovated-ours were not. It has carpet well past its prime in rooms and halls (stained, worn out, and stinky in places), beds that are beyond their useful life, and generally worn out wallpaper, fixtures, etc. Breakfast is what you might expect - waffle machines, bagles, pastries, generally two hot things (biscuits gravy one day, eggs another), fruit, coffee, tea. Pool seems to be cleaned up with renovation. Most front desk staff are friendly, just one or two a little less so.
This place has the MOST UNCOMFORTABLE beds I have EVER slept on (tried to sleep anyway) in my entire life. And, yes, they were even worse than fold-up COTS I slept on in the service years ago. Blow-up mattresses would have been more comfortable. Horrible beds! Also, while they advertised 'two QUEEN beds', these beds were NOT Queen sized. Upon checking out, the receptionist asked me how my stay was? I told her that the beds were terrible, and NOT Queen sized. She replied - "Oh, they will be when we complete renovations IN A COUPLE OF MORE MONTHS". I RESERVED two Queen beds. I asked, upon checking into hotel, for two Queen beds. I was CHARGED for two Queen beds! What I received were NOT Queen sized, and were debatable at to if they should even be titled BEDS! Webster's defines a bed as "a mattress filled with soft material". NOT THESE! Why are hotels/motels like these that FALSE advertise what they are actually providing to guests allowed to continue to (FALSE) advertise?
Stayed one night. Staff was great. I called prior to arriving, asking about some of the reviews. The person I spoke with shared they've had past concerns, but the renovation was going well and new rooms were really nice. I went with it. I was in one of the newly renovated rooms. It was fine. Nice, even. Positives: Bed was comfortable, lighting subtle (I would have liked a little more - thought it was insufficient). The TV was the size of Texas! Nice toiletries. Breakfast was nice. Good options, nice setup, attentive staff. Down side - the one window in the room had a cheap plastic mini-blind, no secondary closure such as a curtain or shade. Not only did it do a poor job at covering the window, a HUGE BRIGHT light off the road beamed right into the room - right through it. I tried hanging a towel - no luck. It was a damper on the stay with the awful bright light beaming in the room. Also, one had to walk through the crappy old hall to get to the newer rooms. I think I temporary carpet cover could be put down to cover it's awful appearance - but none was there. I think the hotel is on it's way back - it'd be in their favor to pick up the pace! Consider adding some 2Q rooms in the renovation area.
Upon arrival, entering the hallway into the lobby, the windows were horrible, handprints and smudges all over the place! The room we were given was non smoking, on the second floor, we were in 213, the hallway up there smelled like a dirty ashtray! The room was exactly the same as hallway, smelled like smoke, and the air condition could not perform at all! We did mention this to the desk, and the gal said a few people complained about the same thing! I was happy to say we only had to stay one night, at which I did not sleep much between the air and the smell!!!
night one, AC packed up so moved to another room, AC worked but WiFi so bad had to use data on phone, light did not work, took 4 attempts to get key card that actually worked for room. Shame as well located, sure will be better when work completed.
I stayed here the last 3 nights with my boyfriend and let me just say, I know the place is under construction but the smell is horrid! The second we opened the door we were hit by what smelled like warm poo. It was terrible. We did everything to try to get it to go away, a candle, febreeze...nothing. Other than that, the bed was comfortable and the bathroom was nice. Just paint on certain things. Oh and the air conditioner leaked all over our floor every night. Would not recommend.
From the outside it looks nice, the front desk and breakfast area are nice, the elevator and the floor/ wing we were in, very old and in need of updates. The good news : we went out once through another wing and it had newer carpet in the hall. I had seen the signs about being updated, but I was beginning to wonder. I guess they started with the breakfast area first. Speaking of that, breakfast was good. They had a waffle and a pancake iron, bacon, eggs, a selection of bagels and bread to toast and a few pastries and yogurt (regular and Greek), as well as fruit, cereal and oatmeal. They had a few juices, coffee, tea and milk. So there's something for everyone. As for our room, it had not been updated yet, but it is a nice size, the bed was comfortable ( should ave brought my own pillow), the shower had good water pressure, and we had a coffee maker, and a fridge/ microwave combo like you have in a dorm room. It even had a real freezer even though it's the size of a shoe box! Our only complaint about the room was that the toilet flushed a little slow and the shade didn't want to roll back up in the morning. Things that will probably be addressed when they renovate this wing. We brought our suits to swim, but we were told at check in that it's closed for renovations. We didn't even go look at it. So if you booked on Priceline as we did and got a great deal as we did, there's no need to worry. Once the updates are made, I'm sure it would rate at least 4 stars. Oh as for getting here, turn in like you are going to Ruby Tuesdays (there is a sign), and the check in is directly behind the back of the restaurant. It probably should have a sign, but I never saw one.
This is our favorite hotel in the area. The balconies overlooking a pond area are really relaxing. Last time we were there we saw ducks in it. They are remodeling and the new rooms are really nice. The older rooms aren't bad either. The beds may be the best part. They are very comfortable. My mom loves the free breakfast. It has waffles, sausage, eggs and other stuff.
What a really nice place to stay. Staff so friendly, courteous and helpful. I was there for 3 nights. There is some renovations going on but it did not bother me. The workers were very pleasant and quiet. Oh, and what a GREAT free breakfast buffet included with your stay. They had so many choices, I did not eat the same thing twice. Great job! Easy access to Route 30 from where you could go to many different places within 5 to 10 miles. There is a Ruby Tuesday right next door too. I will be staying there again!
This hotel is not the cleanest hotel. We have been here 2 times in the last year, but I don't think we will be back. It is very affordable and the staff is very nice, but not very clean. The breakfast was nice and the attendant was friendly and kept it very nice, clean and stocked~ this was the best part of our stay. The pool had water all around it on the indoor sides and just gave the area a not very clean feel. If you wanted to watch your kids swim, you had to walk through water and sit in water on the ceramic tile, just a very dirty feel. I would not allow my kids to swim last visit. They are doing construction at the hotel, but both times we stayed fall and just a few weeks ago, it was not clean. Main hallways and walls were very dirty. But the folks that work here are very nice and helpful.
