Small basic hotel. Clean enough but nothing really special about it.

The staff was great at check in. The property is very pretty and comfortable. They had tea and cookies in the afternoon and a nice continental breakfast.

Quaint and a welcome atmosphere. I will definitely visit again and recommend to family and friends.

Great room. The fireplace was a nice touch!! Restaurant right out front, easy walk.

I would like a receipt from Orbitz as the hotel could not give me one. thank you.

Has a nice look to it. Good breakfast. Staff very helpful in the checkin and checkout process. Walking distance to Brandywine battlefield.

Charming Hotel with quality extras. Breakfast area was pleasing with great selection of breakfast items. Cookies at afternoon teas were very good.

Horrible view. Tube TV remote didn't work Check in took 15 minutes Breakfast was low end pasties and breads still not all out at 6:30am Manager unavailable until the following day

Despite a confirmation text and email from Expedia indicating a reservation and prepayment, the front desk maintained that it did not have the requisite information to indicate that there was any reservation. This was at 2 a.m. when my daughter arrived, exhausted from after 12 hours of driving. It took one hour, and calls from me to the hotel, from the hotel to Expedia, from me to Expedia, and Expedia to the hotel, for the hotel to determine that there was room availability, despite not being able to confirm the prepaid reservation, and she could book a room with a new reservation. My issue was that from 2-3 a.m., she was waiting in the lobby, knowing that there was no other room availability in other hotels nearby, and was given the very stressful and incorrect impression that if the Expedia reservation couldn’t be found, she would be back out to drive in the storm.

The hotel is in close proximity to most of the areas bigger attractions like the Brandywine River Museum, Longwood Gardens and Winterthur which is convenient and there are plenty of Fine and casual dinning options in the area. The hotel itself is a little dated but is still very cozy and has all the amenities one could want in a reasonably still priced hotel for nice long weekend getaway. Getting one of the suites was worth it and on the unexpected cooler rainy day we had the fireplace came in handy. We would definitely stay here again if we come back to the area for a long weekend again.

This hotel feels like you are in a bit of revolutionary history, but has no traces of 1700's, in the historic Brandywine Valley. Friendly staff, clean rooms, good breakfast, afternoon tea. Close to good restaurants.

room was smaller then expected and bed was uncomfortable, all was clean and well kept. breakfast was average, bagels were stale.

Room was dark and dirty, bed uncomfortable, staff surly and unhelpful with one exception called Amy. The Inn could be very charming, and was, last time we stayed there, but it has changed hands. The new owners are cutting corners at every opportunity: i.e. the bottles of shampoo, etc. were all empty. The breakfast is mediocre at best. Some of the pastries were stale and the hard boiled eggs were past their sell-by date. The coffee carafe was constantly empty so we had to keep asking for more coffee, etc. It's a shame because it used to be a very nice place, but we will not stay there again.

We enjoyed our stay here. We stayed in a king room with a jaccuzi tub. The room was comfortable and quiet (at the end of a corridor). The hotel is set back from the road, so there is no noise from the road. The breakfast was good, with lots of variety. We enjoyed the tea and cookies about 4:00 in the afternoon after long days of visiting Winterthur, Longwood Gardens, and the Wyeth Museum. Several restaurants were nearby. We will return.

We enjoyed our stay at the Brandywine River Hotel. The hotel is set back from the road, with a field in the back, so the room was quiet. The beds were comfortable and we slept well. We booked the king suite with the 2-person jacuzzi; the room and bathroom were large and clean, with a small table, couch, easy chair, ottoman, and small refrigerator. There were reading lamps on both sides of the bed. Breakfast came with the room and included cold cereal, instant oatmeal, apples, oranges, cottage cheese, make-your-own waffles, pastries and breads, hard boiled eggs, orange juice, coffee, tea, and hot chocolate. Breakfast was served 6:30-9:00 during the week in a pleasant dining room. Tea and cookies were served in the afternoon (4:30-6:30). Two restaurants were adjacent to the property and there were many restaurants within easy driving distance. The hotel was very convenient to visiting the Brandywine Valley Museum (for Wyeth tours), Winterthur, and Longwood Garden. We would stay in this hotel again when we return to the Brandywine Valley.

Our family has met at this hotel several times before. We all enjoy staying here since we visit family staying at Kendall. Especially like the "tea" at 4:00 pm when you sometimes need a pick me up. The bathrooms could use some updating, but overall its a nice experience. Would stay again and probably will!!

This is a lovely hotel, set back from the road, surrounded by old houses, barns and the fields of the Brandywine River Valley. It is just 1/4 mile distance from the Brandywine Art Museum, which is where the Andrew Wyeth & Brandywine artists are exhibited. There is also a revolutionary war battle site, lots of wine tasting sites, antique shops, and good local restaurants near bye.

Overall a great deal and a nice little hotel. Very nice hotel inside. Basic brick outside.

We have stayed here on many occasions. Staff is always polite and helpful. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Suggest having a room that looks out the back, as it is nothing but fields. You don't hear the cars in the parking lot. Never hear other guests. The make your own waffles for breakfast is a nice touch.

Your most likely going to have to call Orbitz for a receipt. The hotel is under contract to never give out a receipt and I'm sorry about that, this is how those 3rd parties work. So I would call orbitz directly Thank You, Lisa Manager

When writing a review honesty should be the best policy. You must let the guest know that you were upset with the hotel because upon your check in you tried to cancel the second room you had booked. You were told that you would be charged the one night cancellation fee because it was a 48 hr cancellation. That you didn't like. You then requested adjoining rooms and were told the only rooms we had were behind the office and not the best location but you wanted those rooms because they adjoined. You had also requested a manager and I was called at home regarding this matter. I was not able to not charge you a cancellation, that would not be fair to the other guest that follow the policies. The reason breakfast was not out by 6:30am was that it runs from 7:30 to 10:00 am so it should not have been out an hour prior. In the end you did have someone come and use the room for the night so you did not lose any money. I just wonder if we had refunded you what your review would have been at that point. Thank You, Lisa Manager

I am sorry you had suck and issue but when you book through a third party and not the hotel directly answers won't be the same. As you well know we were and still are with county wide still with no electricity. Earlier in the day we had Expedia overbooking us, we closed out their inventory and they still went ahead and booked guests. I had to call guest to tell them not to come we had no rooms. We are not allowed to touch Expedia's reservations meaning we can't change the reservation, change a room type , cancel the reservation or even give you a receipt. If we do we are penalized very badly by Expedia. When you pay through a third party they charge your credit card and send us one of their corporate credit cards. I we don't have your reservation we don't know the credit card to charge. It is a very confusing thing when booking with third parties. My agent didn't have your reservation in our computer so Expedia had to be called and then a fax should have been sent thru from Expedia telling us the credit card to charge. We were completely sold out and the agent can only do what Expedia will let us do. She did offer to book you another room but you would have had to pay for it and receive a credit from Expedia and you chose not to do that , so we really did try. Next time call the hotel directly they can't overbook you and will give you the going rate usually cheaper than the third parties because of their additional charges. Again, sorry you had trouble but there was nothing else we could do for you. Lisa Manager
