It's really hard to rate this hotel. The location and overall appointments are great, but there are so many little problems which take away from the overall experience and imo should not exist for a hotel of this price point. Here are some examples: -Room safe broke twice (failed to operate). It was fixed the 1st night and broke again 2 nights later -No room heat, only the A/C worked -Toilet ran every 30 mins -Inconsistent maid service: half the time was great, the other half I did not get new towels, soap bars or replaced dirty glasses with clean ones. -Cordless phone did not work, had to use the speaker phone function -Clock displayed the wrong time and no obvious way to set the time -Bed was comfortable but the pillows were awful -Room Checkout via TV not working The pros: -Large room -Very clean -In room Kurig and fridge -Great location - away from the tourist hotspots but a quick drive from everything -Restaurant food quality was good -Self parking option -Wifi throughout with options for slow (free) or fast (fee) -Fire pit at night and free make your own s'mores kits Bottom line: I would go back if I can get a good deal, otherwise I would look elsewhere. Finally note there's an additional resort fee was $20/night plus parking ($17 self, $23 valet) plus minor taxes.

The hotel was beautiful. Open camp fire with the smores is a must. However, the A/C broke in the middle of the night with no one to fix it till 7am. But, my main problem with this hotel was their computer system that crashed upon check out. Upon check in, I made known I will not be using the same card that they are holding the $250.00 deposit when checking in. No problem. Now check out, their system had crashed. They could not tell me the total of my charges ( which should have only been self park fees and resort fees). They took my cell number along with a message to call when system come up so I could pay the $78 in fees on my intended card. Their call never came and my card was charged well over $300. After several phone calls to them...they informed me the extra $267 was an accidental charged for my weekend stay ....which was already paid through a third party. The refund took 3 days which caused problems for my budget. I asked to speak to corporate about this matter. They gave me a number that went straight to a full voice mail. After several fail attempts and finally receiving a call from the manager of the resort, he told me he will have corporate to return my call....however that call too never came.

I have stayed at the Shores multiple times, going back to when I first discovered the property in 2008. It's a smaller, boutique hotel that has tried to maintain its class and culture of customer service while everything else around it in Daytona has been in a somewhat slow decline. As a result, keep in mind that this is a 4-star hotel by Daytona standards and were it located in Orlando or Miami, it would likely be a solid 3 stars, mostly due to the aging of the property and customer service of the staff. Last year the property became Chinese-owned and I understand the owners are quite hands on, visiting the property monthly, so with any luck they will give this piece of aged of silver the polish it needs. Overall: clean with excellent staff and service. The hotel is located right on the beach and has its own beach access, a couple of pools, an excellent pool-side bar and a couple of fire pits each with 8-10 chairs around it, giving you an excellent opportunity to meet other visitors. The hotel provides a complimentary s'mores kit which is great for both kids and adults. The staff, for the most part, are fantastic, knowledgeable and experienced. The rooms are well-appointed, though without any excess. Some elements are dated, aged and should really be upgraded. For example the furniture, bathroom fixtures, and the ceiling paint, which in some places is peeling. The bad: the $25 / day resort fee; high self-parking fees ($17) while valet costs $25.

Upon arrival there was a slight mix up with the room. I am in a wheelchair and was placed in a room that was not accessible. However, the manager on duty quickly corrected it. Our room was on the 1st level and comfortable. The room was also dated but satisfactory. The shower situation was a little concerning. It was a roll in shower with a hand held shower head. When mounted the angle combined with the water pressure ALWAYS made a mess on the floor. Overall it was a very nice stay. Easily accessible fire pits which were lovely. From our room we could lay on the bed, open the patio, and listen to the ocean.

watch your bill.lots of misc extras.also double charged.

Room was 55 degrees when we checked in. Maintenance adjusted valves and it took all night to normalize. Hotel needs upgrades. Worn around the edges. Elevator cars banged up . I don’t think 4 diamond rating will last.

Love this place try to stay every year but they are running us everyday guys out with high parking rates and added hotel fees but great bed

Cust service took hotel surroundings to next level, Ty

Amenities are good, nice pool/beach access, food is great. Staff is friendly. There was a sock left in our room from a previous guest and the pillows were dirty. Pillows were very uncomfortable. Still nicer than most places in Daytona.

Great location by the beach nice pool great food bike umbrella rentals only 5 star on the strip I'll be staying again

My stay was paid in full before arrival but had to give another thousand just because, pretty sad also didn't have room I booked and paid extra for.not pleased and will not stay again

Only one night but was able to enjoy the facilities after check out while wait for a later appointment.

I like the hotel especially tha marshmallow roasting.

Upgraded to a room with a "view" but my view was the front street and roof of the cross walk. Also charged a $20 "hotel fee" without any explanation.

Absolutely loved my stay. The Cabana room was absolutely gorgeous. Will definitely be booking again!

room rates are reasonable, but we found things a bit pricy to fit our budget, like the restraint and the bar and gift shop. we weren't happy that we couldn't get an ocean front room with a balcony after booking this trip at least 4 months in advance?

Would stay there again. Only complaint would be about the lack of heat in the room, but they may not be set up for cod temperatures in January. Overall a great experience.

We had stayed there before just after the remodel. It seems pretty worn just in two years...maybe it was the Hurricane. Our friends room on the 8th floor with balcony. Had so many bugs you couldn't go outside. We did the beer fest which happened to be the night we were there. That was fun but they broke the food down too early and we had many left over food tickets we had pre-bought.

two and a half day trip to this area from south florida

This hotel is by far the best hotel in Daytona Beach. They are accomodating to your every need & make you feel like the only customers there. The staff is extremely nice & do everything they can to make you feel at home. The rooms are gorgeous with beautiful views & the comfort level cannot get any better
