My husband and I stayed here this past weekend and were satisfied with our stay and with the hotel. I have to compliment Marriott staff as every single staff member we came in contact with made a point of greeting us. I've stayed at other hotels and while you'll usually get a greeting from the front desk, there is no guarantee you'll get one from anyone else. That is simply not the case here. Everyone was very friendly and willing to help. Our room was nicely appointed and I appreciated having the separate rooms as it seemed to cut down on hearing any hallway noise. If we were in the living room we could hear noise every now and then but when we went into the bedroom and shut the door we didn't hear anything. The shower and kitchen area are a bit dated compared to other Residence Inns we've stayed at (Lifetime Platinum members here) but what is there has been tended to very well. We didn't end up cooking anything so I can't speak to how well things worked but shower had great water pressure and never ran out of hot water so we were happy campers. The breakfast provided was very nice and adequate. I do wish coffee was available at all times but that's just a personal preference. I thought it was a nice touch that they had doggy treats sitting out for anyone with a pet. They have several nice amenities (fire pit, grill, swimming pool and fitness center) that would be much appreciated by anyone staying for a longer period of time.
This is not a very relaxing RI. I know most are close to the highway for convenience. But between the noisy AC units and the highway (possible NOT double paned windows??), its tough for a light sleeper. Didnt get an upgrade (which is fine), but when I have reserved a 1 queen bedroom for 4 guests, I would think when I check in mobile and confirm I am coming and they select a room that does NOT have enough beds, that the housekeeping staff would make the foldout bed in advance. Nothing like paying $150 a night to do some work. The breakfast was good, like usual, dont know what the other whiney complaints are in other reviews about. Overall, You can do better Marriott. We had a great stay here! Our room was past the basketball court (yes, they have one) and was extremely quiet. We heard some hallway noise but nothing at night. The sofa setup was really comfortable with a chaise lounge at one end. I curled up with a book and felt like I was at home. Everything was clean, the shower had good water pressure, the ice bowl in the fridge was full, and the sheets & towels were good quality. The breakfast was good with standard fare like scrambled eggs, waffles, sausage patties and fruit. They also had the most incredible apple crumb cake! I don’t know if it’s there daily but I hope it is! It was delicious and tasted like someone had just made it. I also loved that they had coffee mugs for breakfast instead of only stocking paper cups! We’d had a problem in our room with something that needed to be replaced. I mentioned it when I checked out and was thanked for letting them know. I was surprised, and pleased, to later see extra points for our stay on our rewards card! It was a nice touch!
We booked this for a stressful visit to the University Veterinary Hospital and had a "list" of must haves. First, obviously, pet friendly. I've had the best at the Ritz, and the worst at "motels". I've stayed in Residence Inns before, and I will say this one was the best of the chain from my experience. Second....we needed a refrigerator. With a pet in tow, eating out is not doable, and fast food isn't my thing, so we brought meals, and needed a microwave. Check. Lastly, it had to be in a safe location. Walking a dog late at night in unfamiliar territory alone can be daunting, so I always use my "Crime and Place" iPhone app to determine a location's relative safety (btw this app is worth every penny). This RI was the safest dog friendly hotel in Columbia. Check. The staff was very friendly. Room was clean as a pin. We got a lower floor as requested...the BEST when you have a dog to walk, and close to the exit to the pet area. We will definitely come back to this hotel again when back at the veterinary hospital w/ our four legged friend.
My family and I stayed here twice within a couple of weeks during the holidays. We checked in near or after midnight both times and received convenient rooms my the doors. This made it easy to unload sleeping children. Everything about the hotel is convenient from the rooms to locations to price. The free breakfast is clutch during a long road trip. Our only concern was cleanliness of the pillows and sheets. When we set the pullout bed the extra sheets were not cleaned and the pillows had make up and dirt on them. We got new pillows from the front desk but it wasn't something we wanted to deal with in the middle of the night. This wouldn't keep us from staying again but it was a concern.
We were in Columbia for a wedding and it was the weekend of Mizzou's Homecoming Football game. We knew we would have a hard time booking a room and had made reservations months before at an under-construction Marriott hotel that was not finished when our date came around. The Residence Inn worked with us regarding two rooms and a lower rate than typical for that weekend. We had a two bedroom suite and a handicapped accessible room. Overall we were pleased with everything,l however the pull-out sofa bed was uncomfortable, but they provided us with extra blankets to make the mattress better. The handicapped bathroom had a lot of grab bars. One thing that could be improved in that room is they need a full length mirror. There exercise room is available 24 hours...their indoor pool was large and very clean...the breakfast bar offered many choices and they changed the menu daily...they have an attractive outdoor patio area with fire pit and grill. The desk staff and cleaning staff were very pleasant. Our stay was for four nights...long enough to see if there were any problems and there weren't. If we returned to Columbia we would definitely stay there again.
We've stayed at the Residence Inn several times before as the city is normally booked during Mizzou football weekends. Our preferences are Marriott and Hilton hotels. Being a football weekend we're paying an amazing amount of money for a two night minimum stay with a 7-day cancellation policy. As we've had in the past, we have a room right next to the highway (I guess someone has to but we always seem to get the short end of the stick). I've mentioned before that the A/C unit blows directly in your face in bed. The breakfast is mediocre to bad we did not even get our room cleaned this weekend. We returned Sat night to the same unmade bed with all wet towels that we left in the morning. There was an amazing amount of cleaning staff on hand as I said good morning to several. Somehow none of them made it to our room. I like Residence Inns and I want to like this one as a Marriott rewards member but it has failed to impress for the third time. It's a shame. To be fair, it's clean, good water pressure in the shower and nice roomy accommodations.
Only stayed one night due to business. Only problem was checking in. Had to wait for my room when they knew when I was coming in. Other than that, this is a nice place. Bed was comfortable and room was nice and big. I had 121 which was an end suite. The a/c didn't cool it down to my desired temperature of 65 but it did get down to 67. Overall it is a nice place close to the interstate.
A comfortable location with friendly staff, outdoor grill and fire pit. Breakfast set-up was exceptional, and improved significantly on brand guidelines for the buffet, without going completely out of the template. Had two kinds of waffle mix (flavor of the day - blueberry - and regular, 4 kinds of syrup to choose from, separate "fixin's" area, cold cuts and cheese slices, fresh spinach, and the best "house" coffee at a Marriott free breakfast. Convenient to University of Missouri. Great local choice with kitchen and room to spare.
Let's face it, there's usually nothing glamorous about checking into yet another hotel for a work trip. But from the minute you put your bags down st this property you are part of their family. From the GM down, the staff is not only empowered but encouraged to exceed guests expectations. There is not a single member of the staff that has not been incredible. The leadership at this property sets the tone, the staff plays the song. It's always immaculate. The hallways and common areas are always showroom ready. The service is always fantastic. If you're traveling through this area, stay here. Always. If you're going into or are already in the hospitality industry; come here to learn.
