After staying here over eight times in the past 5 years I'm dissaponted. Recently my 4 year old wet the bed and I was charged $600 pesos for this and moved to another upper room. I complain to the manager Diego about this charge but he had all kind of excuses. Two days later had to move out of the room due to a faulty air condition. The next room the air condition would only blow strong cold air and had to be shut off. Mosquitos would not let us sleep I requested that the room be fumigated.

room was tiny, did not look like pictures. its located in the middle of a EXTREMELY poor residential area. The food from room service is disgusting. we didnt eat it. we ended up throwing it away and ordered pizza from dominoes! water takes 20 minutes to get hot. so plan your showers accordingly. we will not be staying here EVER again.

This hotel is a valid option for the trip to Cancun. It is located in the city. Good idea to take a taxi to reach it, but know the location of the hotel. It has adequate accommodations and facilities for an average hotel. The room was clean, the A/C worked fine, some problems with Wi-Fi. The is a restaurant and a swimming pool in the premises.

Excellent if you wont stay at the city and instead you will be enjoying the tours. Surroundings were not elegant but totally safe. It is not a party hotel it was just (for us) to spend the nights after the daily activities. I would definitely come back

..not 2 stars but 3 is the right stars for this hotel. Awesome staff, awesome location..awesome value for the money. the best kept clean budget hotel in the downtown area. Fantastic small pool and a little one for the small kids this hotel provides it all. The restaurant is impecable and food is plenty and varied. The fully bilingual staff such as Fernando at the front desk made me and my family welcomed. Wifi in the rooms at no additional cost was a plus..plenty of taxis available and plenty of parking. Free bottled water available at the front desk, just grab and go. For my money this was a hotel worth every penny.

The hotel was a good value for the money. We paid $26 per night tax included. The area is a little dicey but the hotel was very nice and the staff was nice. It is several blocks from Tolum avenue.

Clean and comfortable hotel, not the best hood, far away from the beach but close to the central bus station, friendly staff

You get what you paid for. Pro: low price, swimming pool, restaurant Cons: location, bathroom was not clean

clean and quiet, out-of-the-way, shopping mall and inexpensive restaurants within 4 blocks. A bit hard to find, so print a map before you go. Good wifi, nice little pool.

Originally booked the hotel for the price. Upon arriving at the rental car office, I was told how horriable of a location this was, and that we should try to move to the hotel zone. That information could not have been more wrong. Our first night in town the bar tender offered to show us some local bars, and we couldn't have had a better time. This hotel is nothing like anything in the states but for our trip that was the point. I would stay again.

We wanted to have an authentic, affordable family trip to Cancun. This hotel was pretty much the cheapest package we found (air and hotel). We rented a car and I speak some Spanish--so for us this was a great experience. We drove into the hotel zone for the gorgeous public beaches and had room in our budget for a trip to Xcaret for a day and two nights in a bungalow hotel right next to Chichen Itza. However, there is nothing fancy here and its an entirely different experience than the hotel zone. Which is only a 10 or 15 minute drive away. But it really comes down to what type of experience you are up for and how much you want to actually experience a foreign country--and of course, the budget, your comfort level and travel priorities. The location of this hotel is decent as you are about 10 blocks from a large supermercado, mall and Mexican city life. I would recommend renting a car although there were always taxis out front of the hotel. The staff at the hotel are super friendly and helpful and overall you feel safe as the parking lot is secure and gated. The hotel restaurant was nothing fancy but in a short week I had several breakfast favorites and again, prices that will not break the bank. The pool is very simple and small but if you are 5 or 7 years old like our daughters, you will love it. Very easy to supervise small children and our 5 year old could tip toe around the entire pool (no deep end) which was great for us. There also is a shallow wading pool as part of the pool. You will not find plush towels, lavish bedding or the beach outside your door. And there was an occasional sewer smell from the toilet which improved by keeping the lid down, door closed and the outside vent/window open. But all in all, for the price, we had a great vacation in Mexico with many wonderful memories. You just need to have an adventurous, open spirit to appreciate this hotel. And there is free wifi that reached our room on the 3rd floor--slow enough to encourage you to just shut off your electronic devices but good enough if you needed to get online and check something. Gracias Hotel Hacienda de Castilla!!!

I read countless reviews and booked this hotel with my eyes wide open. The area was seedy - but as long as I was with my husband I felt fairly safe. We also found that the bus R1 wrapped around the block and let us off 3 blocks from the hotel. The staff was polite and very helpful. We ate breakfast and the food was fantastic. Alfredo, our waiter, gave us tips of things to look for on our trip and food to try. We would consider staying again. The price was right - even if the area was not very nice. We did like staying in the city and experiencing a more authentic Mexican atmosphere. Everyone we met was kind and polite. We were able to get around well even though we don't speak the language. If you're on a tight budget, not overly fussy and slightly adventurous, give this hotel a try - just get a good map of the area and find out about the bus routes - that's the best way to travel!

I would never recomand this place to anyone. Staff is not nice, and asking extra money...

This hotel is downtown. If you are planning a beach vacation in Cancun this is NOT the place. However, if you are going to Cancun on business and have a rental car and a good sense of direction this place is perfect. The staff was extremely helpful and cheerful. I would stay there again if I were traveling alone on business in Cancun.

The hotel was not that bad, since it was pretty cheap and we didn't had great expectations. We traveled as a group of students during spring break, so we wanted something cheap. However, the location was a problem. It's located in down town Cancun, with other words: the ghetto. We had to take a cab everywhere, since it was too dangerous to walk outside. Taxi is not that expensive, but it ads up a lot in the end. Also, taxi drivers had a hard time finding the hotel. The rooms are not that bad, but a friend of mine got his iphone stolen. Since the bathrooms have a window that leads to a small room, which the door is never locked. Hard to explain, but it was creepy, since people actually could go inside that small room and watch you taking a shower (me and my friend put a towel over the window). The hotel had just got a new bartender when we arrived that could speak very good English, and he was also very helpful. The people in the front desk had some hard time with the language, especially the one that worked in the evening. I loved Cancun, me and my friend is planning to go back in the summer, but we are choosing an another hotel this time.

My experience was great. The place was comfortable, the rooms were very clean and the staff always walcoming and eager to help the tourist.
