Hilton London Angel Islington4.0 out of 5.0

I stayed here for three short stays in August for work. The location is very convenient, being a 5 minute walk from Angel. Despite being located in a busy part of London, it is set back from the street and I had no problems with traffic noise. It has also clearly been renovated recently to a very high standard, including large, excellent showers. The downsides relate mainly to the extras that go with a stay. For example, each room has a large TV in it, but they insist on running it through their own proprietary system. This means you have a limited choice of channels, the picture quality is poor and there is no way of plugging in your own device. They havea speaker for the TV in the bathroom, but for my first two stays, this could not be turned off (just quieter) and on my last stay it could not be turned on at all. The room service is astonishingly expensive (over £3 for a can of Coke), so I never tried that. There are loads of restaurants that do carry out in the area, so you won't be short of food. There is a wide selection for breakfast, but these are very variably executed. For example, the bacon may be soggy or it may be so solid you can barely cut it with a knife. The coffee is poor too. The air conditioning is effective but loud. There is an alarm clock in every room, which is a nice touch, but the display is so bright I had to turn it away from the bed. There is a fridge in each room, though no mini-bar, and tea making supplies, though no hot chocolate. All in all, this is a high quality hotel, but would benefit from a few tweaks in key areas to really make the service match the setting.
I visited this hotel at the beginning of the year and certainly wasn't impressed. Yet after giving them a second chance the hotel performed much better. Service was excellent as was the food. My previous issues were with maintenance and cleaning, which have certainly improved. Although I must still say that there is room for improvement here. After walking down the stairs to the lounge I found many cups and glasses just left in the stair well, I'm assuming by staff who had forgotten them, however, they were there for hours! Furthermore, there was still some quite significant build ups of dust and dirt in the draws of the furniture in the room. (I have pictures of all of this) This is obviously far from ideal, if these issues didn't exist I would give the hotel 5 stars. Aside from the issues, a much better and enjoyable stay. A drastic improvement but still a long way to go in certain aspects.
This hotel was our base for a three night stay in London. Our room was comfortable and clean. The breakfast was good and ample. The staff very friendly and helpful. We were attending events at the Olympic Stadium and the nearness of Angel underground station (10 mins walk) provided a good access to the Stadium. Plenty of shops in the vicinity, such as M & S which was handy for snacks etc.
Hotel is perfectly situated for great bars, restaurants and transport links. The rooms have been recently renovated to a very high standard. The staff are friendly and helpful and the rooms are very good value for money. We will definitely be staying here again. Highly recommended.
Rooms seem to be recently renovated, and they've done a good job featuring a contemporary design and nice bathrooms. Our room was located on the top floor, spacious and quiet. Breakfast is served in the bar on the ground floor and ok. Nothing too fancy, but reliable quality and friendly, attentive staff. The executive lounge was ridiculous: a small room next to the lobby. Looking through the windows one felt like an animal in the zoo. Just the "Don't feed" signs were missing ;) Bottom line: Nice rooms, conveniently located close to tube station Angel and with Ottolenghi bristo being just around the corner you can't go wrong :)
Wonderful hotel located in Islington, a very nice and dynamic area with a lot of shops and the market in Chapel Street. It's also close to all stations (St. Pancras, Kings Cross and Euston) and to the underground (Angel). The hotel is not on the main street, so the rooms are quiet. They have a very comfortable bathroom, with a big shower space and big shower head. The breakfast is excellent, I ordered a very tasty omelette and helped myself to the buffet. It is served in the room overlooking the little square, so you can have breakfast with a view. The staff are very friendly, always smiling and looking to help you. I will definitely go back.
My tour used a different Hilton in the city which I found dissapointing. Tour ended in Paris, but we were flying out of gatwick so I had chose this Hilton as is was fairly close to st pancras after we took the Truro star from Paris. Was much pleasantly surprised with the look, cleanliness and modern layout of the rooms. The best hotel I had in my 2 weeks in Europe. Would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting an affordable stay in London and close proximity to major station for travelling. Will look at booking if I return next year.
The Hilton London Islington is among my preferred Hiltons in the London area. Rooms are modern and big (at least according to London standards). This hotel is much better than many other old and outdated Hilton Hotels in the London area. It is also reasonably priced (according to London prices) and has a good location not to far from the centre of London. The hotel also has a small Executive Lounge for HHNORS Gold and Diamond Members.
A great example of a Hilton - friendly and helpful staff at reception and at breakfast. Very clean and well planned rooms and lovely spacious bathroom. It is a minutes walk from the underground station, and there are nice restaurants and shops between the hotel and underground. We actually walked from St Pancras/Kings Cross in about 20 minutes or so, which was fine. The breakfast has everything you could want, and was nice to sit by huge windows. No traffic noise at night, and the area felt safe in the evening. Will definitely stay here again rather than in the centre of London, less touristy and busy.
We loved this hotel! Nice room, great breakfast, nice goodies and drinks in executive lounge and excellent location for tube, Eurostar, shops and restaurants. If we travel to London again, we will definitely stay here again.
