Pros: - Great staff (with perhaps the exception of some of the kitchen staff (see below)) - It appears to be well maintained Cons: - Noise - we were on the third floor and were serenaded by machine noises, loud voices, crates of bottles being tossed around at the back of the kitchen until about midnight - Noise - The walls in this place appear to be quite thin and you will hear and understand conversations in the next room. Wonder how thin? Tap some of what look like stones on the corners of the walls and you’ll find that they’re a hollow facade - Comfort - Relatively quiet AC but bed linen that will cook you or let you freeze. Probably a couple of thinner comforters would make more sense than one thick one - View from the window. The lower portions of the windows at least in the rooms in the back are frosted - a quick look through (above them) will lead out to a view the HVAC systems, back end of the kitchen and apartment complexes - not a high end view/location - Check in and check out - we were able to check in early but normally their check in and out times are 4pm and 11am. Most (frankly) lower end brands can manage 3pm and 12pm what is the justification for this? I would not recommend this place at the prices they charge. I would say that the majority of the staff were excellent, but the location, building construction, noise levels and check in and check out times were not even on a par with a typical Holiday Inn.

The property is not what it was. The food and wine are not up to the standards. The location is great.

the location is not the superb for Fairmont

The service level is poor and unacceptable. My misfortune started with the checking in at your hotel as of 7/28/2021. We encountered a number of unsatisfactory surprises.Specifically, I made two reservations. One is for my friend and her husband, visiting from Taiwan, and the other one is for my family. The reservation for my friend is for a room with two beds at a charge of $800 per night while mine is a room with one bed with a charge of $500 per night. On Monday 7/26/2021, I received a call from your hotel manager that my room was upgraded to the same as my friend with 2 beds and a fireplace. My misfortune started with the check in. I was told by your reception staff, that there is no more rooms with 2 beds. Accordingly, he made the following arrangements, that totally surprised me: (1) Even though we had a confirmed reservation, the reception staff provided my friend 2 separate rooms (each room with one bed) for her and her husband. Also a credit of $200 was issued. (2) Even though I had a confirmed upgrade, the reception staff did not honor your hotel’s 7/26 commitment and provided me a room (1 single bed) with no upgrading at all. It is not the kind of treatment I would have expected from a four/five star hotel like your state and caliber. I am very disappointed from this bitter experience. To compensate this unacceptable mistake, I made request of $ 200 credit for each room ($600 in total) or provide us 2 rooms (each room with 2 beds & a fireplace of $800 charges)

The property is maintained at the highest level. All staff were friendly and helpful. However, there is nothing in any of the descriptions of the property that I have seen that indicates the Fairmont wing has no elevators. We were on the 2nd floor. I have a leg condition. Having to go up and down those stairs many times every day was quite trying. I would also suggest eating out for dinner. Portions of the food were quite small and the quality of the food was disappointing.

Love everything!!! Beautiful, very romantic surroundings. Clean, nicely furnished room, very friendly and helpful staff.

The fire pits and outdoor seating made the stay notably enjoyable.

Definitely got a Hotel California feel here, staff were all very very friendly and food was amazing....couple this with a beautiful building, amazing grounds, pool and you have a perfect weekend. We'll be back for sure!

The property was amazing along with the staff. Everyone was so accommodating.

Love the ambience, and the never-ending fire in the hotel lobby. I did not like being charged a day rate to use the spa pools on top if having tl pay the daily resort fee.

Friendliness of the staff. Attention to detail. Well appointed rooms. Very pretty grounds. Lots of amenities.

Excellent customer service and nice spa area. Free coffee bar in the morning and tons of fun board games in the lobby.

Room is beautiful and very nice remodeling . I really enjoy clean , calm , cozy .

Mineral water pools are fabulous and make the place

The dogs!! Staff was fantastic. Great lobby vibe.

Dear John, on behalf of myself and the entire team here at Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa I would like to sincerely apologize for the fact that your stay with us this past July 4th weekend didn't live up to your or our expectations of what a stay should be like. I was pleased you experienced "Great Staff" and you found the resort "well maintained". However, with that said, I'm truly apologetic for your stay being disturbed by "machine noises, loud voices, crates of bottles being tossed around at the back of the kitchen until about midnight". I really do appreciate this feedback even though it was very unfortunate, as it has allowed me to follow up with my team who were working Sunday night to see how we can prevent a similar noise disturbance to other guests. In addition, I will try to connect with you later today to personally apologize. Thank you once and I do hope I will have the opportunity to welcome you back soon. Yours sincerely, Edward Roe General Manager Fairmont Sonoma Mission inn & Spa
