I thoroughly enjoyed my stay in the hotel. All of the staff were really friendly. The food was excellent. The food selections from the restaurants and variety of restaurants were great. The amenities were great. People there were helpful at all times. Another thing that was great was that the slightly larger Wyndham Maya hotel was just a short walk away along the beach and all those amenities and restaurants are also available for those staying at the Wyndham Azteca.

This is the second time my wife and I have stayed at this resort and we can't have enough nice things to say about this resort and the incredible staff that works there. The beach is beautiful. The resort is a little smaller which we prefer. My advice for people staying at this resort is to make sure you bring a lot of $1 bills to tip with. The staff works extremely hard for very little money. The average housekeeper makes between $5 and $8 dollars a day so you are going to want to leave a few dollars a day for them. My wife and I bring about $250 in ones so we can tip the staff often.

We had a room overlooking the pool area, which made it close walking distance to both the pool and beach area. There were lots of lounge chairs available at the beach. The entertainment crew are hard, tireless working people who always are upbeat and friendly and provide classes and activities if you choose . They also are very talented and the nightly shows were entertaining! The food was great, lots of choices! We ate at the Japanese and Italian a la carte restaurants and they were wonderful, the service over the top! Also the buffet had many choices, breakfast being our favorite. The minute you sit down, someone is ready to pour your coffee and spoil you! The rooms were nice, with nice sized showers that lots of hot water. The maids leave beautiful sculptured towels everyday.. the only drawback we found was the smoking, which is not the resort’s fault. The staff is friendly and helpful and we enjoyed our vacation there.

Very nice hotel, close to the beach. The entertainment staff was amazing so friendly, they really make you feel comfortable and are amazing with the kids. The food that was served in The buffet was good, they have 3 restaurants where they serve Italian, Asian and Mexican. Every night great evening shows & entertainments after show ! My special Thanks to performers: Eva and Monica and Victor-the Barmen. We would definitely return here again!

Tons of shade or sun at beach chairs. Great coffee stand by pool bar daily. Good food. Loved the Italian place- best dinner.

We have a good time, the hotel was great excellent service, good food, great staff, and beautiful resort over all.

Front reception staff was awful. Food at Italian resteraunt was good but Buffett was awful. Always had to call and ask for towels to shower. Beds were like concrete.

Despite that the room was a little outdated with tiny not-sit-down balcony (except 1st floor rooms with patios) and that the entertainment was mediocre, I liked this resort for its small size and that it did not feel overcrowded like other resorts in the area. Everything is very close: outstanding beach, lobby, pool; most rooms have pool and ocean view, no lines to bar or food places (and that is during Xmas-New Year busy season and while it was fully booked). They have good bikes (free) if you want to ride into town a mile away or explore Playacar; and free catamarans and other water equipment. And there is a sister hotel 3min walk away that offers additional services and entertainment (including better night shows and disco), trapeze, and other activities. Free wifi is only in the lobby and restaurants adjacent to it. Food is good but certainly less choices compared to Sandos Playacar or Rio Palace. For Xmas night, however, the menu was expanded significantly. If u like smaller, quieter and easy to manage places - this is a good resort to choose.

Muy agradable nuestra estancia, en lo personal me gustaría q las bebidas sean de mejor calidad.

My wife and I have stayed at Viva Wyndham Azteca several times and our first visit, several years ago, was the best. I think the VWA can be a good value, for what I'd term a mid-tier all inclusive resort, but I think it has slipped a bit in the past few years in service and quality of the dining experience. To us, it's location on the beach in Playacar is its greatest asset. I think families would enjoy.

We had a little bit of a slow start. The fellow that drove us from the airport didn't know where our resort was. He didn't speak english & we didn't speak spanish. He had to stop twice & ask for directions. It took 2 hours instead of 45 minutes. Everyone at the resort was very nice. The only thing i wish the room would of had a ceiling fan, you can't adjust the temp. And there was no washcloth's which i thought was strange. No tissues, to take off make-up? Only 90 peso's to take a cab to 5th avenue for a full day of shopping. The mini frig is stocked with1 Pepsi,1 diet,1 7up,1 water &1 sodawater. They never replenish it, it states that in a note on the frig.

Staff wonderful. Food ok. Was difficult to get chairs by pool but beach is so beautiful we spent our time there instead. No drink service at the beach or pool but bartender Eder was great. Food always available somewhere. Kid friendly but wasn't noisy with kids like some resorts are. Most of the guests were Germans from what we could tell. We walked over to the Maya and we did prefer the smaller azteca. Don't walk to 5th avenue during the mid-day...gets too hot.

We arrived a couple hours before check in time but were able to get to our room. This is about the 10th time we have been to Mexico and the 8th time in the Cancun/Riveria Maya area. We brought our two granddaughters 13 & 14. The rooms were nice simple and clean. We reserved a superior room but not sure what that got us. We had first floor and pool view. The in room safe was extra $2 per day and there was a small dorm size refrigerator in the room. They told us the first day we had complimentary water bottles and 1 bottle of sprite, coke orange and club soda. they do not supply bottled water after that so if you want bottled water for room for tooth brushing and drinking in room either save those bottles or buy in gift shop otherwise you will only have small glasses to use for room water. DO NOT DRINK FAUCET OR SHOWER WATER!!! There was only one pool in front of the bar/grill area and a kiddie pool fenced off from other pool. there was also a hot tub spa but it was never running. The pool area was kept very clean Being non smokers there were areas separated for smokers which did help. We seemed to be the only English speaking staying at the hotel. lots of French, Italian and German. The staff all spoke pretty good English, enough to communicate. we left our room cleaner $3 each day and had great service as well as towel animals made on bed. The food was ok in the buffet and had really good Italian but you only get 2 nights of other restaurants for every 6 day

Enjoyed our stay here! Clean, great staff. Although they definitely need MORE pool side chairs!! And a computer for customers to print boarding passes! Also free shuttle to 5th Ave. Would be nice too! Food was average. Had bad rain one day water leaked through window. Staff addressed right away. Drinks watered down too. You get what you pay for it geuss.

Restaurants were very good but weird reservation rules could not get some of the restaurants we wanted but when you walked by they were empty. Also asked for a robe but refused said they were for members only not orbitz customers. Otherwise it was nice. Beach was great.

Great hotel on the beach. Friendly staff only con was it took the water along time to get hot not a bad thing waking up in the morning food and drinks were good.

This vacation was amazing due to the staff of this hotel! My family and I truly enjoyed our vacation the food and entertainment was great. A little more activities would have been great but the little they had was good. The food and the restaurants were very tasteful. The bamboo restaurant was my favorite not only because of the food but because of the services in the restaurant. This hotel is very friendly and staff is alway there to help. This is my second time trying out this vive Wyndham resort and once again I'm truly happy with the service. My room was alway cleaned. The food is great and a large selection.

This is a very clean hotel with an excellent staff. Would definitely go back!!!!

We had a wonderful trip and stay at Viva Wyndham Azteca. The food was great, the staff were all friendly and helpful. We had a minor issue with needing a plunger a number of times, but overall a wonderful trip.

The hotel met and exceded our expectations we enjoyed every minute of our stay, loved the size, the staff very professional and friendly. We did not like the first room and they moved us to a better one. A lot of activities to enjoy If you like them.
