Maya Villa Condo Hotel & Beach Club4.0 out of 5.0

We just spent a week at this condo hotel. I think most of the reviews are fake. First there is no elevator. Most of the stairs only have partial railings. We booked with Hotels.com and were treated like 2nd class. They downgraded us AFTER handing us keys to a nice condo then took them back when she noticed we did not book direct. How stupid did they think that after speaking to people there we wouldn't notice the difference in condos? The other people staying there were getting FREE breakfasts some up to 3 weeks worth, we did not. We tipped the maid $5 a day and she still didn't empty the coffee pot, even after I left it unplugged and open. They make you walk a block to the office for a beach towel and have card system 1towel per person not a 4 star type of service. The door lock was faulty (and one night we got locked out) on the downgraded condo they gave us. The safe batteries were dead and could not be opened. The AC in the living area was faulty and read at over 80 degrees even though it was frigid and you couldn't stay inside. The beach club is 2 blocks away small and smelly with nowhere to swim. The other club they will drive you to is better but rude to you as you are not one of their condo owners. IT is a very long day if you go 10:30 AM to 5 PM. The beds are rock hard on a cement platform as is the couch. There is only a breakfast counter no table and the chairs are to high for the counter. The balcony facing the courtyard has a small table with only 2 chairs for 4 people. The apartment we were suppose to get had 2 balconies. There is little light in the condo and the bedroom windows face walls. It was very disappointing for the money. Just remember if you are older or disabled they should make this clear that this is not the place for you. Lastly they need to put things in writing because everyone gives you a different story. I did get them to admit that the reason they changed the condo was because of booking with hotels.com. The pool is tiny and just decorative. So be warned
the rooms with the rooftop patios and hot tubs are nice. This is not a beach front location. it is quiet, the rooms are nice. The staff is very nice and professional. The restaurants that have coupons thru the condos are nice restaurants.
Stayed at Maya Villa during my birthday week. My villa was spacious and sparkling clean. Addie does a fine job. I got a welcome bottle of wine in my unit and one for my birthday. The villa is Extremely comfortable. I was solo and felt very safe. I stayed on a 2nd floor unit. These properties are well equipped and have so many amenities that are included; amazing free breakfasts at Imprevist or on the beach at Indigo beach club, free access to The Gym, tons of restaurants that provide 15% off with your VIP card and more. The Staff are great at the office and restaurants. Special shout out to Chileda at Imprevist; brunch here is delicious as well. Can’t wait to visit again.
We feel like in our house! The breakfast in the beach is amazing experience!!The localization is another good point is near everything and it is also near the park like xcaret,xplor...I highly recomend!!
This place is in a great location for easy access to all. Their beach club is not ideal. We had to find other beaches for kids to play on. It is located a block off 5th avenue for great and various shops.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The set up was ideal for our family of four. 24 hour staff was always available and very helpful. Great to have breakfast options included. The food at the Plank was delicious.
We enjoyed our stay at Maya Villa. The suites were large and comfortable with kitchen, living room, two bedrooms and two bathrooms. The unit seems to be pretty new overall. The housekeeping was excellent and cleaned daily. The staff was helpful and there is a security presence on premesis. On the downside, the pool is very small and only open until 8:00pm. The beach, which is just a couple blocks away at Indigo Beach Club is tiny and packed with boats. You can take a free shuttle each day to Grand Coral Beach Club that has a decent beach and food. You are required to spend 200 pesos per person (about $10) while there. The shuttle picks you up at 10:30am and returns 5:00pm. If you want to leave earlier it’s about 200pesos back to the center of Playa. Maya Villa is part of a chain of condo hotels in Playa del Carmen so you are allowed to use facilities of the other hotels I believe.
We just returned from five days at Maya Villa. We booked through a Volaris package and stayed in room 417. The place was really beautiful, very clean and plenty of room for our family of four. I love finding a place with twin beds so teenage kids can each have their own bed. The place had everything we needed, including a water cooler with bottled water. The rooftop deck with jacuzzi was great. The location is about a block from the beach and a block for 5th Avenue, a popular shopping area. We did go to their beach club one morning, Indigo beach club. Unfortunately, the beach is completely washed out and smells quite bad. I got a complementary massage at the spa which was great. The parking is free and secure but tiny, and our rental got scratched there. To the management’s credit, they agreed to review the security video to see if they could identify who did it. The staff was all friendly and helpful. If you like a condo-style hotel, I highly recommend Maya Villa.
Everything was perfect. The apartment was beautiful and clean. Breakfast was fantastic. Reception always opened and a guard always in front of the main door. Everything was as promised and even better.
This was an extremely well run holiday accommodation. The staff were great, but the villa was perfect, there was nothing to fault, the living area was large and comfortable, a full kitchen and full size refrigerator. Two good sized double bedrooms, each with a very well appointed ensuite. Plus 3 balconies to sit outside and relax with that pre dinner drink. There was an excellent gym for those that have to workout on holiday(not me), also 3 good beach clubs nearby. A very quiet location one street off 5th Ave, so shopping and restaurants were right on your doorstep. Would I stay here again, in a heartbeat.
