Hampton Inn & Suites Richmond - Downtown

Hotel was exactly what we needed. Close to convention center, staff was friendly, and room was very nice. Parking was a little tight in their garage but not a major issue. Breakfast was decent for being complimentary, hot and cold items. Would definitely return.

The location of this hotel puts it close to everything Richmond downtown has to offer. The staff is exceptionally friendly and accomodating, and the hotel itself is clean and well kept. The elevators take a little getting used to, but are very efficient. The rooftop bar is a great place to hang out and view the city from 20 stories up. Some of the surrounding areas of the neighborhood loo a little rough, but I felt safe walking in the evening.

We’ve stayed in many properties in Richmond - this year we chose the Hampton because of the proximity to the Convention Center and we had an exceptional experience. From the check in to the last day. Property inside was exceptionally clean Food and service at Belle Restaurant was excellent - the Rooftop Lounge awesome! Rooms super clean! Friendly and Service oriented staff. April was very helpful and friendly! We’ll be back!

This is my second visit here .. Friendly welcoming staff that try to please guests Rooms are spacious and clean... However difficult to control room temps without knowledge of how they work .. Perhaps ask at desk how they function so you can keep temps in room comfortable .. this hotel is unique for its dual style of 2 hotels in one meaning homewood suites is attached too ... This makes it interesting ..you get choice of 2 hotel breakfasts and don’t forget that Homewood suites gives you the evening gathering Monday - Thursday with free wine and beer ..woo Hoo ..!!!! Definitely a plus .. they also have a nice rooftop gym with great views of the city ..esp at nite ! The pool is up there too but it’s very small and those darn kids take over .. they should enforce adult pool hours .. for those adults who want to swim .. All in all nice hotel .. nice downtown location .. Paid parking. But you get a shuttle to take you many places within a 10 mile radius .. Cool !!

The staff at the rooftop bar were very rude and unfriendly and not just to us but everyone that was in line before and after us. Belle and James restaurant was good not a lot of choices on the menu. The continental breakfast was probably the best part of our stay.

We were happy in every way with our stay here. Warning! The rooftop pool is very small. Dreams of relaxing poolside with our family was not realized, but we didn't really have time for it anyway. We were celebrating my son's wedding which took place on the Capital grounds, a short walk away and reception held at Capital Ale restaurant and bar on the next block. The location is convenient to walk to the river and many shops and restaurants. Richmond is an interesting city with a combination of historical sites and architecture and modern business and architecture. Loved it!

Arrived on a Sunday hotel and rooms fine but difficult to find anywhere open for food in the evening. Nice breakfast large rooms lovely staff. Small pool on the roof great views from up there. Near to State Building and historic area.

Enjoyed our stay. The hotel was nice, rooms were comfortable, and staff was friendly. Location was not awesome. However, the Capital Ale House and Chicano Cocina were both great places to eat. They are both across the street, very close. We did not eat at the hotel restaurants because of limited space and limited menus.

Overall pleased with my stay. The bed was comfortable and the room was quiet despite the hotel being full and the roof top bar was busy due to a holiday weekend. It's at a convenient location downtown within walking distance of lots of attractions, restaurants, and the hospital. I was pleased with my selection.

We stayed here for one night when we came in to see Hozier. I wanted a top floor room to enjoy a night time view of the city but changed our reservation and requested a lower level room upon reading other reviews that had complaints of noise due to the loud music coming from the Cabana on the top floor. So our room didn’t have a view at all but the decor was absolutely beautiful as well as clean and spacious. The front desk clerk, I think Alex (?), was very sweet and helpful along with his other coworkers. Everyone downstairs was very friendly. When we went to the top floor to go to the swimming pool upon exiting the elevator there were no signs as to where the pool was so I went into the Cabana to ask and the host rudely glared at me and said you can’t come in here that way (dressed in a bathing suit.) I wasn’t planning on staying in there, obviously. I just needed directions. I think it’s ridiculous, in the first place, to even have a dress code for the “restaurant “ when it’s only division from the pool is by potted plants lol. Furthermore if you’re out swimming in the heat wouldn’t it be nice to be able to grab a drink and/or snack from the bar that you can see from the pool. How absurd is it that this isn’t allowed? Also in the photos there are many outdoor tables on the rooftop deck of the restaurant outside when in actuality there are only a couple, atleast that’s how it was when we went. The pool was very cute and clean but super small, still enjoyable though with a great view. I would recommend lounge chairs and tables though. The location is excellent as it is right downtown and parking ($15 per night) is just around the corner but connected to the hotel, very convenient. Overall, we really liked this place but wish we could have enjoyed the restaurant, too bad there wasn’t any room and the staff there was rude.
