This place is terrible do not visit. Food is horrible. Staff is very mean

I booked 2 nights and 3 days for this hotel. I had to change of hotel that same night i arrived. Room had bad smell, key of the sink in bathroom was broken and AC not working. I said i will go eat and maybe condition of the room gets better. it didn't work. went back to room i found a roach walking. I decided to change from this hotel to Senator. I went to the reception and told them i wanted to change and explained them the issue i had with the room. i even took a video of the roach to show them. I talked to them nicely even waited to see if situation got better. While i was there, there was a man really mad yelling at them and telling them to give the money back. That he knows what is to have AC working and they were already helping him and giving him something better. I didn't get an apology not even a discount on the price i paid to change from hotel. The receptionist jt's said to each other"We have to fumigate the room". if i would have acted like the angry man i would have gotten a discount or at least an apology or maybe a better offer to make customer happy and clean up their reputation but i was so nice that i didn't deserve not even an" I'm sorry for the inconvenience" i have been to this resort when they were RIU Bachata and they were one of the best in town..Now? not recommending it at all. very disappointing

I like the view of the mountains and it was very close to the pool area and the beach

Our room was 3006. Cleanliness.... oh boy... room was filthy. Mold, stains, matress was black, room musty, dead roaches in the drawer. Curtains were filthy, dust you could make it into a snowball.

The price was excellent for an all inclusive but most of the staff are very rude

Didn’t have our room reservations, systems were down, wouldn’t let us pay for the rooms with a credit card EVEN after we already booked because they were down as well. Horrible situation.

The rooms are old, A/C wasn’t working properly. Beds and pillows were uncomfortable There were Roaches outside of the room every day. Not coffee maker and iron in the room. The staff and in particular the bartenders were super friendly.

The food wasn't good at all. The didn't have variety, each day the same and not good.

First of all, the first day of my stay during a hot night the light and water service went off which was really horrible staying like that the whole night

First of all I want to say that they are advertising the boutique hotel to sell you the popular hotel rooms, so you see pictures of both hotels, Playabachata and Senator all together without knowing that they are 2 different category hotelsI. I had to do an upgrade and spend a lot more money in order to enjoy the facilities I saw on line. I like the Senator hotel, that is the newest hotel facilities in Puerto Plata and has potencial to be a great hotel but they are not totally done, the spa is not yet opened, the service is very poor at the restaurants, the food takes forever to come, and the buffet has good variety but the food is exposed for hours and the flies are around constantly. They only have 3 a la carte restaurants opened and you can only make reservations from 9 to 10am otherwise you are out. Also, nobody speaks english there. Another aspect that really bother me was that a great number of locals book hotel rooms on the weekends and they make parties on the pool area in the afternoons where people from the popular Playabachata Hotel and Senator Hotel ( boutique hotel ) get on the pool to play, so I literally saw around 80 to 100 people, mostly drunk, screaming and throwing water ballons at each other. That was scary, I didn’t want to stay there and I believe that for a boutique hotel that wants to sell the image of a five stars, that really goes against it. The beach is beautiful, they have all kinds of water sports and the staff there is very helpful.

Liked the clean walkways. Disliked the old keyed system. Anyone can make copies of room key and return for another stay and burglarize rooms / safes in which they have made keys. Food was minimal choice and the same wvery day.

Beachfront and the food. Personnel is efficiently trained. Room is very clean and lobby people are so good. Maria, Holguin, etc.

The resort and staff were excellent! We couldn't ask for a better staff and accommodations. The only issue we had was that the city seems to burn garbage regularly late in the night so each day you wake to a smokey smell that dissipates by 9:00 am. Not the resorts fault but does take a bit away from the experience.

Dear guest, Thank you for your comment. I am very sorry to hear that you did not like your stay and were not satisfied with the food. We have a 14-day menu cycle and a variety of foods for each shift. However, it is necessary to know that for hygiene and health, we have individualized portions of salads, desserts, and certain types of food, to guarantee the health of our guests. In addition you can find the entire selection of the buffet and the snacks but we have limited the capacity, so it may have given you the impression of a smaller buffet.
