We stayed three days. The beach was fantastic, clear water and great sandy area with umbrellas. The pool area is lovely. Food is very good for a buffet style and service is very attentive and friendly. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a nice stay near Puerto Plata.
THE HOTEL NEEDS TO BE UPGRADED OVERALL. THE ROOMS WERE OLD WITH HARD BEDS AND PILLOWS. THE PILLOWS FELT AS IF THEY WERE STUFFED WITH OLD, HARD CLOTHS. AFTER MY SECOND NIGHT OF SLEEPING ON THE BED MY BODY BEGAN TO HURT FROM HOW STIFF IT WAS. I HAD BETTER SLEEP ON THE BEACH CHAIRS DURING THE DAY. THE DECOR CAN USE UPGRADING AS WELL. THERE WAS A HUGE WHOLE IN ONE OF MY DRAWERS THAT MADE THAT DRAWER USELESS DURING MY STAY. ONE OF THE LAMPS IN THE ROOM WERE MISSING LIGHT BULBS AS WELL. THEY DEFIANTLY NEED TO WORK ON MAKING THE CUSTOMERS STAY MUCH MORE COMFORTABLE OR THEY WILL LOOSE CUSTOMERS RETURNING OR REFERRING THE HOTEL. OVERALL THE BEACH WAS BEAUTIFUL AND THE LOUNGE BEACH
The food was good the service was good I can't wait to come back to the same resort it was just great
My girlfriend and I had a wonderful vacation at this resort. We desperately needed a week in the sun and booked this week long vacation at the last minute. We were very pleased and would gladly return in the future. If you're looking for a lazy week in the HOT sun, with great food, drinks and friendly staff, this is a great pick. Definitely do the special dinners & romantic dinner on the beach.
Stay was great! Food was amazing, drinks were standard. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Wished they had better free WiFi service since it's not free in the room. Glad it was so close to the beach. Would definitely go again.
The good: Nice resort, good price, close to airport, great food, nice beach (mostly), close to local entertainment. Easy to go for excursions, safer part of DR (gated area for resorts). The bad: Beach "salespeople" harass you while on beach, they will wake you up. Discount rooms are far from beach across the main parking lot. "Free" items like tennis are only free for 30min or maybe 1hr or so. Beach for non-upgraded people not as nice, there are lots of sea urchins around the reef that is right there by the beach. The ugly: Cockroach in room! I understand being in a warm climate but a 2" cockroach shouldn't have been missed during cleaning. Cleaning crew just sprayed stuff in room that smelled quite bad, asked to change room and was denied. Probably should have just left hotel at that time. Overall: Ignoring the cockroach problem, overall it was ok. Good value and had a nice time, although the food gets boring after a week. The nightly entertainment they have is a bit lewd and yet geared for older crowd I think. The price made it worth it, although I'll try another resort next time. But it was worth going once.
This resort has a nice long beach front and decent reefs starting about 100 feet out that were good for snorkeling in the mornings before the wind piped up and the visibility dropped. The surf breaks out on the reefs so the waves on the beach were smaller so no body surfing here. The staff was very friendly and attentive throughout the resort. The buffet was very nice and the Italian restaurant and the Octopus restaurant were fantastic. The ocean grill not so much. The rooms were just like typical hotel rooms but they were clean and every room looked looked to have a balcony. We did the premium room upgrade and I would recommend it not because the room was any better but because it gives you access to the Vintage Club upstairs which was a great place to have a drink after dinner as well as use of the private beach area with an excellent staff that brings you food and beverages. The rest of the beach was nice but people would stake out the beach umbrellas first thing in the morning so there was no shade available for late comers. We never had trouble finding a free umbrella at the private portion of the beach (although the resort was only at about half capacity when we were there). The kite surfing school provided plenty of entertainment since the instructors would surf up and down the beach and catch air and do stunts.
This is a great resort if you enjoy what we do: relaxation on a beautiful beach, great restaurants, and great service. There are also agents on the resort to organize events, tours, and outside accommodations if you like to venture out.
It was a nice hotel with a decent beach. It was difficult to find spots on the beach with shade. You had to get up at 5am to claim a spot if you wanted one. Wait staff in buffet had to be flagged down for water and coffee
This hotel is not great and not horrible. If your looking for something simple with nothing more than a pool and direct access to a beach this is it. There's 2 pools one with the swim up bar and a second on the other side that's the quiet pool, there's a bar outside of the quiet bar but it is def not where the action is. The staff is all very friendly and accommodating. But that doesn't change the fact that once your at the resort there's no other amenities no shows no club no activities really. The food is nothing to write home about plain buffet. A Caribbean restaurant Italian and a seafood restaurant the options at these restaurants are minimal. The room was always clean and they brought us water and soda bottles daily. They offer wifi at $10 a day or 25$ for 4 days however it is only for one device at a time so be aware. I stayed 6 days 5 nights it was a nice and simple resort but given the chance I would probably go to a different resort next time only for the fact that there weren't things to do other than the pool and beach
Decent food. I didn't starve, there was a wide assortment to choose from that I could find something i liked. Staff was the best, very nice and would make any drink you wanted and as strong as you wanted. Maids were nice, clean and would serve any need you needed. The entertainment was good, at least they tried when times might have hit a rough patch. The head entertainment for the resort were funny and fun. Energetic and great dancers.
I enjoyed every minute and would come back in a heartbeat. For the price you pay the food was good and the staff was extremely friendly. I do wish I was told to bring single dollar bills since tipping is expected over there since I've only been to a sandals where tipping is not allowed. They did go beyond any American restaurant for my birthday and surprised me at two meals to sing happy birthday and one of them even had a whipped cream flower on too with candle ! Totally adorable. Also, this is not just a couples resorts so you will make friends with everyone. Also, yoga with Linda was AMAZING !
It was really good. The staff was really friendly and respectful. The entertainers were awesome. Definitely will go back and recommend this resort.
I like VH Gran Ventana, it's a smaller compact resort and the staff is very friendly. The rooms are decent but the beds are hard. Overall experience was very nice
In general this resort is ok. The beach is nice, the pool is nice. The buffet is great. The premium and royal package beach waiters are great. The one major turn-off is the never ending swarm of beach vendors coming up to you as you are trying to relax on the beach. For that reason I will never go back.
We had an awesome experience. Food and service were amazing. Definitely recommend this hotel.
The staff are a huge part of why we love Gran Ventana. They are extremely accommodating and always friendly. The beautiful beach doesn't hurt either! The food is also several notches above other all-inclusives.
The staff at VH Ventana were Excellent, so friendly and warm. Rooms were decent and the overal value was outstanding, all inclusive!
The check in was extremely slow. First, you are told your room is not ready, then you have to way for long time to get your key. Second time in this hotel, it is very close to the airport, no more than 30 minutes by car. The room was large but kind the smelly. Beds and pillows were comfortable. There is a safe but I did not use it. Food was very tasty and good variety. Staff was great, pleasant and professional. Drinks were not as good as the food. Very expensive internet. In general, it is a good place to stay. The beach was beautiful and amazing weather. The vendors are extremely annoyed.
Pool is very nice. Beach is excellent. Rooms are nice but need some updates. Staff are super courteous.
