Upon arrival, my husband and I decided to upgrade to the "Priveledge" room, we walked to the room and noticed the toilet seat was broken, mini fridge was not working, room smell like mold... actual mold was on ceiling witch was poorly covered with paint, and the view from the balcony was horrible. Instead of a lovely garden view it was a view of clumps of shrubs and un-maintenance landscaping. We complained to the manager and asked for a different room. We were given a different room with a better view of the garden and pool area, however, the mini fridge was barely working and the room had a slight smell of mold. Despite of these conditions, we decided to keep the room. We left for the evening and when we came back to the room at 8 p.m.to find out that our key card did not work. We inform this issue twice to the office, they sent three people to fix the issue which took a little over 2 hours to fix. We finally entered our room after 10 p.m. All this within our first day of arrival.
Very happy to be at this hotel, facility was good the staff was wonderful.would recommend this hotel to my friends.
We did the honeymoon suite package which gave us privilege benefits. I will say well worth the extra cost! On of the most beautiful places I have ever stayed at. We were waited on hand and foot! The pools are very quit for the most part which makes this a great place to go to relax! The only complaint I had with the resort is they say they have room service 24 hours a day but tried 3 different nights to order some, and the number was a busy signal for 3 hrs straight. Other than that I can't say a bad thing about the experience they provide to there guest. We will be back for sure.
La pasamos genial con mi esposo, hay de todo para hacer, nos atendieron genial,la comida diez puntos, las piletas,el mar, todo!!!!! Se los recomiendo!!!!!!!
Was an awesome honeymoon! Hotel was great, just wish they gave a bit more information as to using the other hotel as well
I expected a little better quality for the adults only all inclusive resort. Our 1st villa had a moist moldy smell. The 2nd day we requested a change and were only moved 2 rooms down and the room had the same smell. Then we finally got moved 4 villas down and didn't have the smell. The food was ok and for dinner a little better. The one restaurant that I really liked was the vegetarian which had a much better quality. Otherwise there was minimal options at most of the other restaurants. The alcholol was worse than house, I wasn't expected top shelf but I couldn't even drink the mixed drinks. The beach and ocean had tons of seaweed which made it not clear water or pleasurable for swimming. I did like the amenities and found the adults and kids side to actually be nicer and better equipped. Overall the staff was very friendly and accommodating but definitely moved on island time. The conceire went above and beyond to help us with transportation. The extras were worth the money... we did a couples massage on the beach which was heavenly. Their was upgraded rooms with private pools and better quality liquor and exclusive bar but for those prices you could stay at a 7 star resort. Most importantly: be careful with the ice, salad and vegetables that may be washed in tap water. I ate a lot of salad and on the last day I got horribly sick with stomach stuff.
Food could have been a bit better but over all okay.
Highly recommend this resort... We loved everything about it. I especially enjoyed the exercise classes.... Yoga, Pilates and surfboard yoga were all so much fun!
Gorgeous , great staff, beach was unreal, complete relaxation....?only complaint was some restaurants not so great.... like the italian place and our ac was a bit clattering..... overall i would totally come back!!!! Great drinks and very friendly staff.
The food is mediocre at best and the rooms are starting to show water damage from all of the rain. We were "upgraded" to a nicer corner room but the smell of dampness in the air was overpowering. Their drainage system is terrible so expect to walk barefoot in puddles of water during and after a storm. Not sure if this was resort specific or typical for all of the Country. Also, be prepared for a timeshare pitch. At this resort, you really do get what you pay for - the price is great but you will not be blown away by their food.
-All inclusive, great deal -Great location -Huge resort, well kept on the adults-only side -Friendly staff, excellent service -Clean room, very spacious. Bathroom was recently renovated so it was very clean. -Access to sister resort and restaurants. No wait for restaurants on the adults-only side. -Many restaurants to choose from as well as bars. -The buffets were sub par, a la carte restaurants were up to par. Formal restaurants were excellent. -Steps to the beach (we came after a hurricane and they did a great job of cleaning up the debris!) -2 pools to choose from on the adults-only side, swim-up bar in the main pool -Lots of activities, BBQs, dinner on the beach, live music -Free snorkeling gear rental and kayak rental -Resort was not too crowded -Room service was fast. The menu was small but a handful of restaurants were walking distance We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and give the resort a 4 out of 5 stars. The staff was very proactive about making sure we were happy and helping us with anything that we needed.
Super helpful and smiling staff, great facilities and maintenance, spacious rooms, good and varied restaurants (as long as you expect an enjoyable and good-looking food, but not a Michelin-star grade dishes...). Keep in mind that the resort is pretty remote, hence there is basically nothing to see/do at a walking distance outside the hotel (although you'd not need any, considering the options within the resort itself...). In case you consider upgrading to one of the "special packages" (e.g., "Honeymoon" etc.)- make sure you are fully aware of what you're paying for, as some of the "upgrades" essentially only reflect some extra activities (e.g., Massage, romantic dinner on the beach etc.), that you might not really be interested in...
The staff was incredible. They alone made the trip excellent.
I went with my wife on September 9-12, 2016 for her birthday, very excellent place to relax with your couple, the Hotel welcome was great and the staff very nice. The type of guest were great, there were no children running around or splashing water from the pool. The drinks and food was ok, and the Restaurants excellent a lot of different type of variety for you to choose from. The room upgrade was wonderful, junior sweet at the Prestige Pearl area. The Hotel is beautiful and very clean. Have the advantage of going to the other Hotel Catalonia Bavaro Beach was great too and go to the night club at night. The staff at the Bar at the night in front of the main pool ANDY excellent bar tender. I recommend this Hotel to every couple for relaxing and have some time for your self's, you meet people from around the world and different cultures. We went to Isla Saonna is beautiful, recommend too. We planning of going back again soon, thank you Catalonia Royal for your attentions and excellent service. See you soon.
Very nice hotel, staff seemed to get nicer with time. Roberto at the the beach bar was the nicest and one along with Andres they both had the best service! they really make you feel welcome!!! Overall nice hotel!!!!
Housekeeping did a nice job daily. First all inclusive resort we tried. Good experience and would go back.
Excelente hotel donde la calidad de servicio de los empleados hacen la diferencia. La comida maravilloso y la playa hermosa. Regreso pronto.
We travel a lot and were severely disappointed with this resort. We started off by upgrading during checkin, nice little display showing available upgrades and benefits of the upgrades right at the front desk. We later found out that everyone was getting the same benefits as we were because it was the "off season". We get to the room and its adequate but not 4.5 as rated on website, more like 2.0 rating. Infinity pool is boring and quiet, no music. Good luck getting a drink there, the staff from the beachside restaurant also serve the infinity pool and almost all of them acted like they were doing you a favor. Also be very careful while walking around infinity pool we saw a guy fall right thru the tile, which moved when I(135 lbs) walked on it. The front pool was more upbeat, and Carlos and Gladys in the pool bar were the highlight of our trip, only people who looked like they enjoyed their job. They remembered what we were drinking all day long everyday and Gradys was very entertaining, beautiful voice. Mosquitoes were very bad around the property starting about 430 everyday. Also had trash or something being burned very close every day, the air reeked of smoke every day and some days you could see the smoke. Housekeeping tried get in our room at 830 in the morning with the do not disturb sign on the door, thank god we were one of the lucky ones that had a chain on the door and had used it. Very few employees speak/understand English.
The trip was not worth it! The "all inclusive" meals and drinks were the worst food and cheapest liquor I've ever had in my life! The rooms air condition didn't work, it smelled, I heard multiple complaints while we stood in line to complain about our room and dinner at the hotel restaurant. The excursion to soana island was horrible! The excursion to the zip line took over an hour and forty five minutes when the booking agent for Expedia stated it would only take thirty minutes. Overall just not worth the time or money! Most of the staff were nice and respectful with the exception of front desk, guest service and one waiter we had.
Beautiful resort with two large pools and large beach area. Nice restaurants, definitely try the brick oven pizzas, and fun beach bar with great music. Slower service than expected at the restaurants, but the staff was still friendly and helpful. Make sure if you do a room upgrade to ask for the "tickets" for the massages and such right away- we were not told or given the tickets and after a slight hassle missed out on our couples massages even though they scheduled it for us on the first day. Ask lots of questions about upgrades. Tip well to start off for better service. Overall it was a very nice first time in Punta Cana.
