This was my first solo international trip and I can say I had a really nice time! The resort staff was amazing and always on point. The food was pretty good and it was always something to do! I took Spanish lessons from Yahiro aka Brad Pitt and he was awesome!! I loved my room as I stayed in the Cofresi Suites and this stay occurred the same time as hurricane Irma!! The staff made you aware of any weather related issues and/or concerns and on the day that Irma affected Puerto Plata we were instructed to stay indoors however the resort made sure we had enough food and drinks delivered to our rooms and i was moved further away from shore for my safety and was able to go back to my lovely room once the storm passed us. I can definitely say that i will be back to the Lifestyle Tropical resorts

The room was old and extremely uncomfortable! The bed may as well have been the floor! We woke up hurting every day! We we're literally chased down to do the tine share tour! We had no choice! If you don't do day excursions, there's not much else to do, although the beach is very pretty. You can't leave the resort because it's too scary! If you don't make reservations to eat, you only have the buffet as an option. Also, someone tried coming in our room one night they had a key and didn't knock! If we hadnt had the door latched, they would have walked right in! Very unnerving!

This is a review for the Lifestyle Tropical Beach Resort for those who purchased it when it went on sale and will be going. I will try to make it as bipartisan as I can HOTEL Pro: The hotel is immense and it is well maintained. There are plenty of pools and beach area for you to enjoy. From POP it is about 30-45 min away. They have daily activities for you to enjoy and the resort itself has security 24/7 as well as someone at the multiple front desks all day. Con: The hotel is immense and you will find yourself taking the shuttle to get around the resort as it can be easy to get lost and some areas have steep hills which, for someone like me at least, can be exhausting to go up/down. Even though you have reserved the Tropical there is a good chance you might be placed on the Cofresi side, which is certain areas outside can have a foul smell coming from the sewage. If your like me you will find yourself going to the Tropical side for food or to be in that pool as it has a little more ambiance. If you get placed on the Tropical side then your good to go. ROOM Pro: the room was nice, nothing special but it had everything you needed. My room was right behind the lobby so it made it easy to get to the pool on the cofresi side as well as take a quick trip to the front desk if I needed anything. Since it was close to the lobby it also made it easy to catch the shuttle. Con: the AC wasn't the best and being the carribean it is to hot to not have an AC that works.

I staid in Building 1... Noise, music and entertainment from pool and bar area made it difficult to stay in the room to rest or to take a nap late afternoon... that building is just too close to the pool and the bar does not close until 1:00 am. So avoid staying in that building whenever possible...

The hotel was very nice and the room was very comfortable. Only one little detail I bought a package that included a bedroom suite and they put me in a different hotel room. The room was nice but I think it should not happen like that. The staff is very nice and atent.

Almost everything is good for this hotel. Location, good food, stuff (except in check in/check out desk). Staff could improve their english, cause there are many travelers from Europe, USA, Canada

The Tropical Building is the worse and everyone knows it, including the DR residences. They are smelly and if they put you in the basement, the ceilings leak and the room is moist. Gross... food is horrible if you are not a VIP member do not expect great service.

I absolutely loved my vacation and am glad that a friend told me about it. I didn't love the rooms even though I didn't spend much time there, it would be nice if they updated them. The staff was great, very pleasant and attentive.

It was a great room for the price. The staff was nice and the food was good bit nothing special.

It is a place for families with small children who want to get away from it all for a bit. The beach at Cofresi is only mediocre. There are pools though and bars and music and many restaurants to choose from though the food is not particularly good. All the ones we tried were serving food not much above your office cafeteria.

After reading reviews on resort was kinda skeptical. Not one complaint. Room was always clean. Restaurants were good and never had a problem making a reservation, remember its All-inclusive food is never 5 star. Staff was friendly and always available. Resort had nice pools and beach was great.

I'm usually a very go-with-the-flow person and have never given a one star review to any one establishment, but Lifestyle Tropical takes the cake. To be fair, the weather was great, the food was plentiful if not good and if you knew where to go, you could get a decent drink most of the time. Our room was large and clean and maid service was also superb. That being said, on our first morning there, someone kept knocking on my door until I opened and then proceeded to sell me a time share. And they kept doing it throughout our stay, which I found to be annoying at best. Management of the hotel is beyond unresponsive and horrid. Not a single issue we've had had been addressed in a timely manner. Wait staff at the resort restaurants is untrained, rude and slow. To top if all off, my mother fell on the stairs of the beach cabana and broke both her hand and ankle. The hotel has taken a stern position of "it's her own fault", refusing to provide transportation or any assistance at all. But if you don't mind any of it, it's a lovely facility.

Worst hotel ever.. Staff was unprofessional Room was dirty water leaking through the ceiling and construction going on in front of our room was just a nightmare.

first I get there and they told me I needed to be American, and I am, but my sister also, she is not, they told me we have to pay 40 extra a day, the reservation doesn't said that, so first fight, they let us go, but only because my sister is disabled and walks with a cane, room, mini bar didn't have beer and also a 7up with half liquid on it, mattress had a hole in the middle, next day in breakfast we talk to somebody and they gave us a tour, promise us to give us a purse and two t shirts, we went to the tour, I knew about it because I took the tour last year, and I tough the place was amassing, but it was all the parts for the vip people, to become vip you have to spend between 4000 and 16000, they also have packages for 64000, when we got out they didn't want to give us the gifts saying it was only for vips, next they offer to show us where we can go, and they took us to another tour in vip parts, I was really angry, next it was raining really bad, my bathroom start licking from the ceiling, I don't know what kind of water it was, they change us to another room, the next room had fungus in the walls, so I ask to clean it, power went out twice, water stop once, cable was frozen for almost a day, including half of the election day, and I got sick because of their food, I throw up twice, last time 4 am, I went to take a shower and the water was cold, and they kept it like that for the last two days, I have more to tell, but no mor space in this post, get away from them.

Really old rooms. Dark and gloomy lighting. Ongoing construction right out door. Fly fest everywhere. First day no hot water. Leak in the bathroom ceiling. Crack on window in bathroom causing lots of mosquitoes to enter.

Flew into POP & stayed in bldg 5 in Tropical. Requested Bldg 4 or 5, as other bldgs were older & had lots of complaints. Small beach (no long walks on beach) but perfect lounging area with nice beds to lounge on. Loved the ocean waves! Lots of walking & steps so not a good resort for wheelchairs/strollers. Food was good but recommend taking a insulated coffee mug, if you're a coffee drinker. Took day trip to cable car & town by taxi with an interpreter - nice trip! Wanted to do the falls but even those that were in top shape said it was rough to do and got banged up on the rocks. Lots of bars, if you like to drink. Book A-la-carte restaurants as soon as you get there. We did the Mexican (Trapiche) & Brazilian (Rodizio) - both were superb (men have to wear pants in that restaurant)! Knowing basic Spanish goes a long way there and they loved the spanish-english books we gave them. Tipping isn't needed but really appreciated so take lots of ones. Also take: complete first-aid kit (very limited medical service) & hand sanitizer. DO NOT take the tour that they try to take you on! We didn't take it but everyone that did was so angry about it. They trick you into a 3-4 hour time-share high pressure tour. We had a nice trip, thanks to the Orbitz deal. No issues at check-in/check-out and didn't even ask for our credit card on file.

It was ok, the food could of been better, as well as the alchohol beverages

Had a great time. Food was fresh and the staff was kind

I being to this hotel many times and always very good, but this time I was not happy with my room or the bathroom . Bathroom very small also need to be updated. Employees are excellent.

Great experience! awesome place to have fun and enjoy a nice vacation. Relax at the pool while savoring some nice, cool drinks. btw, don't forget to to go the VIP beach!
