Royal Eagle Hotel

Hotel is good for the price, located in a residential neighborhood not far from Hyde Park and Paddington. My shower had only one temperature, extremely hot, reported it and it was not fixed. That issue alone I would not return nor ask a friend to.

I've stayed at the Royal Eagle numerous times, at first for location and now because it's my go to place. They keep upgrading, for example the wi-finis now easy and strong. The staff have always been pleasant and helpful.

It was my second stay at this hotel, and both times it was great. Excellent location. Walkable from Paddington Station with a roller suitcase.

The hotel met my expectations for a one-night stay not too far away from the West End but at moderate prices. The room was very clean, the free 30 minutes of internet use are gone before you set it up to work properly, then 24 hours cost GBP 10 - which is ok but should really be free. Staff is friendly and supportive, facilities are kept in shape. Very cramped space in the bedroom and bathroom and relatively noisy fan/air condition should be noted, though. Also luggage should not be too heavy given up-and-down stairs on the same floor.

Hotel looks fine but especially wireless internet was below average.

Even though I had prepaid for this hotel through a travel company, it was overbooked. They moved me to another hotel that was not in neighborhood where I needed to be. They paid for the taxis to get me back and forth but it was still a huge inconvenience. They should not accept reservations and payments when a room is not available!

Not good .Staff not very helpful and not friendly.Had to change rooms cause the first one assigned was a disaster.

The staff informed us of the incorrect starting time for the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace which wasted our time. But the worst was two nights of no hot water for showers and the staff was not even apologetic!

If you need to be at Paddington station for some kind of connection, then this location is very good. Paddington is an easy walk, even with suitcases. The hotel itself, though fairly clean, has extremely small rooms (think college dorm room), and was extremely noisy. Noise came from other people staying in the hotel; the elevator; and most notably, the street. I will look for another hotel next time.

We wanted a place in London that fit a family of 4. Most places had a limit of 3, which would have meant we would have had to get 2 rooms. The Royal Eagle had a lovely, large room with enough space for 4. Granted, one of the "beds" was a pull-out couch (not always the most comfortable sleeping surface). But it was fine for a few nights, and we saved by not having to get 2 rooms. The building was nice and close to a major train and subway station, so getting around day or night was very convenient!

The room was small, but very nice. It was very clean, and there is a restaurant (which I did not frequent). The staff was helpful. I asked for a wake up call which didn't occur, but when I checked, the telephone was unplugged so check that when you first arrive in the room. A hotpot with coffee and tea is provided, no blow dryer.

Short walk to Padington Station. Friendly staff. Clean, small room and bathroom.

Spent the weekend in London for a concert. This hotel is 2 blocks from Paddington station, which was great. The staff that checked us in was extremely unfriendlt alothough the day time receptionist was the opposite. The room was tiny, not an issue considering the small amount of time spent there. The bathroom had been updated and wasn't too bad except for the fact you had to keep the bathroom door open to get out of the shower without falling down. I might add I am a petite person so not sure how someone else would manage. The bed had hairs on it and was extremely hard. There were hairs in the shower as well. It was very gross.
