Love the bathroom

loved the modern artistic touches throughout the hotel, and the little park to the side. lovely room, lovely staff, view. would stay again!

We arrived around midnight and were very tired after a long flight. We were eager to get into our room, however, the front desk had a lot of trouble trying to figure out how to set the room key. We had to sit in the bar and wait while he figured it out. Also, we had to carry our luggage up several flights of stairs.

My husband needed a break and so I booked him in to your hotel as a treat. And it certainly was. The room was elegant, warm and welcoming. He loved his stay and he was so enthused that we have promised each other to return their as a couple in the city where we first met.

I've just spent 4 nights here. First impression is impressive - it's built in a refurbished police station and, as a listed building, has kept some of the original features such as inscriptions above the doors and rosettes on the wall. It's really well renovated and feels much more like a boutique hotel than a chain from Accor, the same people who do Ibis and other cheaper hotels. The restaurant and bar are decorated in a plush 1920s boudoir style - lots of deep reds, brass and chandeliers. The gym is very basic and slightly depressing, but it will do for a workout. There is parking available which is a real bonus in this area. Rooms are a decent size with excellent bathrooms. Everything is brand new and feels high quality. However, the service is lacking. I spent 15 minutes awaiting check in as nobody was there to help me out. Every time I pass reception, there are numerous people there trying to get things resolved with a woefully lacking number of staff. Lastly, the hotel is located in a residential area and seems strangely placed. It's a short walk to the high street and very quiet, but just very odd and unexpected. Despite the location, I would rate this place as a 5 if the service were to be better.
