We just needed a base for our trip. We got to the hotel, staff were friendly, check-in quick and easy. We had a room on the top floor and could see the London skyline across to Westminster. The room was clean, bed comfortable everything needed for a short stay. My only comment - the lift is incredibly slow and is very stuffy especially if you are feeling a bit under the weather.
Staff where great but the room was bad No climate on Control on radiators either off or fully on Bathroom;- No heating so cold Cracked floor tiles everywhere Mold in showers Tiling looks like bad DIY job Taps from Victorian age Shower control bust And an overriding sewerage smell Very bad IHG hotel standards
Booked two rooms for myself and colleague, our rooms were a reasonable size and the service from the staff was exceptional throughout. I'm an IHG member and whilst he rooms in this hotel are quite costly by comparison to others, it does have an excellent location in London and I would expect someting of a premium for a London hotel. Great as a business base, but I would probably not stay for more than a couple of days on leisure break. The only real downside of this hotel is the lift which must be the slowest lift in the history of lift kind! The lift really needs an upgrade.
We stayed here on our last night in London and wanted to be close to the bus station. The hotel was very clean and in a good location. The street had many hotels on it and a lot of restaurants within walking distance. The bus station was also in walking distance. The staff were very helpful with directions and luggage storage. Our room was very small but clean and for one night was no problem. It is not like the Holiday Inn Express hotels in the US but you are not in the US so enjoy the experience. We were a little cramped but overall enjoyed our stay. The hot breakfast in the morning was very good with a lot of variety and was kept full and clean. We would stay here again if we needed to be close to the bus station.
I have been using this chain for years and have probably stayed in most of the hotels around and in London, but this is the worst one. The rooms are tiny even for express. Small tv in the corner of the room Chair in front of a single wardrobe A door that opens into the bathroom and then needs opening and then closing to get to the toilet. Virgin wifi rather than ihg wifi? Belgrave road is a fairly busy traffic road, but it did quieten down later on. Fairly close to restaurants and bars. Handy for Victoria train station and Pimlico tube.
Excellent welcome from the all the staff we came into contact with. The room itself was tiny withe the bed filling most of the space there was only about 18 inches either side of the bed and 3 feet at the end. There was a desk, but the chair for this blocked the doorway to the bathroom. We ended up storing the chair in the bathroom when it was not in use! Room was clean but a few tiles in the bathroom were cracked. OK for use if you are out all day, but could be a bit cosy if you stayed in the room for any length of time. Only breakfast offered, but several restaurants are nearby and the bus stop is only a few yards away to take you directly to Westminster
I have stayed in Room 124 and the room is hardly any space. They are looting with this price. I am extremely disappointed whether Holiday Inn auditing this property or room. 3 days water shower didn't had warm water, complained twice and threatened to leave if not fixed. The staff, breakfast and traveller phone is the only respite. I would never recommend this hotel again. It's simply not worth the 150 pounds you pay for a mediocre room and poor service.
This hotel is well located. Convenient to tube station Baywater. Next to it there are a couple of convenient stores where you can buy food to keep in the hotel. Breakfast, European style....no american style but, good to start. Room, small but ok. Too hot inside ( I went in August) The room was too hot on the evenings due to the sun all day directed to the room. They provided a fan but not enough to cool it down.
We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights and sad to say it wasn't up to Holiday Inns normal standard We had 2 twin rooms on the lower ground floor with a laundry in between so a little noisey - one was really small we had to ask for bath towels/shower was barely warm and the hair dryer didn't work Its a lovely old building but in need of a refurb I think The staff however were so nice friendly and accomodating on the 1st night the fire alarm went off twice and when we complained at reception the matter was dealt with straight away and we were given a discount Special mention to the girl on reception Alessandra who handled the situation very well and kept smiling even though she was under pressure Breakfast was tastey and plenty of it and another nice touch was the breakfast room was full on the 1st morning so we were asked to wait in reception and someone came and got us when there was a table vacant rather than queing Its pretty central and a pleasant walk if you want to visit the Westminster area but probably would not stay again unless it gets a bit of a re-vamp
I would not stay at this Holiday Inn Express again. When choosing Holiday Inn, I expect a certain amount of comfort and predictability. I was surprised by this property. Very small room (that's OK, it's London after all), but no air conditioning and and the wall fan was not much help, no refrigerator in room, they did not replace the instant coffee we used, nothing at all made this hotel stand out as good. I can't comment on the breakfast because we were up too early the two days we stayed. The staff was not at fault for the shape of the hotel. They were pleasant but not always very informed. I'm an IHG Platinum member and obviously did not get an upgraded room - perhaps one doesn't exist in this hotel.
