As a HGI Priority Club member, I looked forward to this hotel and location. PERFECT for a cruise transfers out of Victoria Coach Station, 10 minute walk, but pulling luggage added to the time. Check in was fine, except we requested no basement level room, and one in the group ended out down there with lots of street noise and night time sidewalk traffic pouring in the window, which, due to no air conditioning, has to be open all the time. Wasn't real happy about that. The breakfast room was very stuffy and warm. Not real enjoyable. Selection of food was good, but not like in the US. We were told prior to traveling they would be able to call cabs for us, what they didn't tell us that there was a flat fee to do that. The night time clerk was not as friendly as the girls on day shift.
Stayed for 3 nights for weekend break, the hotel is less than 5 minutes walk from Pimlico tube station, check in friendly and easy. The rooms are not large but clean and tidy, you get a fair bit of external traffic noise but that it to be expected. Breakfast is included which is typically Holiday Inn Express standard. Ideally could have done with air conditioning in the rooms. Free wifi and I left iphone charger in the room which the staff posted home for me at no cost. Would stay again if in the area.
THE GOOD 1. Two twin beds, comfortable 2. Free and good breakfast 3. Staffs are pleasant and helpful. THE BAD 1. No drawer can be found anywhere: desk, night tables, closet. 2. No AC. 3. No shelves for nothing: makeups, shaving cream, toothpaste, shaver .... 4. Washing sink had individual hot faucet and indidvidual cold water faucet, can not get warm water because hot and cold do not come out from a common spout. Hot water was burning hot. 5. The Android Handy mobile device for free internet & free phone calls did not work. 6. Hair dryer in the bed room, not in the bathroom. 7. No small refrigerator.
good location rooms clean and tidy hotel staff very helpful bathroom very good condition and clean would stay here again and would recommend to friends and family. Bedrooms a little small but well decorated
Rooms are small, windows are limited to how much they open , there is no ac but there is a fan available, was very hot in London during our stay, was almost unbearable in hotel so was out most of the time, breakfast was adequate , staff are friendly and apparently they are having a refurb so fingers crossed they include ac and get rid of the plastic curtains, overall slightly disappointed with what you get for the money but still had a pleasant stay.
The following is my opinion based on the five nights I spent at this hotel with my family in July of 2017. We booked two rooms since we have four in our family. The rooms are ridiculously small, even by European standards. Our room was a twin room with two twin beds. Our rooms had but 18 inches of space between the three sides of the bed and the walls in the room. Two people could not walk by each other without one having to sit on the bed while the other passed. There is also no air conditioning. During our stay in London, the temperature was quite high. Although the rooms have a small desk fan, the temperature of the room was very high. One could only hope to get some cool air by keeping the window completely open at night. This creates another issue, noise. The hotel is located on a very busy street. There is a lot of loud traffic noise all night long. To combat this, the hotel gives out free foam earplugs. I could not believe that a Holiday Inn would be so poorly constructed that the clients have to sleep with earplugs to get some semblance of quiet. It was ridiculous. We were initially booked to room 202. During our first morning there we encountered a significant leak coming from the ceiling whenever the clients above us flushed their toilet or took a shower. I can't dare imagine what was dripping down on us. The management did move us to another room 24 hours later. We were then booked into room 104. This room is partially below the street level. The window affords a view of the drainage area in front of the hotel. Judging by the smell that wafted through our window, it was also the place where homeless people relieved themselves with regularity. Not only was this room hot too, now we were unable to keep the window open due to the stench. Terrible. I have been a HI customer for years and can honestly say this was the WORST Holiday Inn I have ever experienced. I definitely recommend you stay elsewhere.
The room I stayed in was comfortable but basic. It didn't have air con so there was a fan instead which was definitely needed! The room was small (even for London) and there was no iron in the room. Other than that all facilities were provided. Great location within 10 mins walk of Victoria station. I found the shower temperature quite hot. I'd stay again outside the summer season. Good service.
Convenient location near Pimlico Tube Station, and Victoria Station an easy walk. Despite asking on my profile, as a high level Priority Club member, for a high, quiet room, we were put in a second floor room above the road. When we asked for another room, they immediately found a room on the 5th floor away from the road. Faded glories; needs serious refurbishment. We have never come across such a slow lift; there are no indicators as to its progress. Very small rooms – inevitable to some extent in this part of London – with no air conditioning (a listed building) which meant that one had to leave the window open; which meant we were disturbed by plane noise for much of the night. The ‘double’ beds are only 4’ wide. The fan in the room was far too noisy to leave on and the lowest setting was too fast. Breakfast – I suspect it could get very crowded. Good tasty sausages but no bacon! Very helpful staff. Good wi-fi.
A one night stay on the way through London. Very small room on 3rd floor with en suite. No air con (other than in foyer) but fan in room and no view from rear facing window. Handy for Victoria Station and nearby underground. Staff on desk were very helpful and deserve mention. Breakfast is basic as you might expect and overall cost of room can be quite steep for what's on offer but this is London.
The rooms are very basic and not the same as the pictures on line. We had a room below street level facing the garbage cans. Hotel employees were constantly using the stairs outside the window, making it difficult to sleep. The staff was courteous but not helpful when we requested a new room. The breakfast was basic as well, with most of the bread products stale and tasteless. The best part about this hotel is its location, with easy walk to the tube stop. If the price is the lure, then you will get what you pay for.
