"Staff were excellent, the room comfortable, the grounds very nice. It was awesome to be able to borrow beach supplies, though local beaches were closed due to dangerous surf. One hiccup was the coffee service on our second morning. There was some trouble getting it brewed and a huge crowd of people were waiting over an hour for any coffee, and then it disappeared immediately. I ended up using a kettle in my room. I should also mention the parking situation is ridiculous. Very limited spaces, and when the lot is full, you have to park across the street for twice as much and then get reimbursed. Parking should be free anyway. We stayed only 2 nights, but all the extra fees added 100$ to our stay. We probably won’t return to Hawaii because it’s become unreasonably expensive to stay anywhere."

"We were in a remodeled room. The room itself is nice. The toilet is a Toto bidet! The resort overall is overvalued. I’m not sure what the daily resort fee gets you, maybe the beach towel? All the beach toys are rented for a hefty fee in 30 minute increments. The food was fine, we had much better meals in Kona. The walk to Ocean Tower is absurdly long. The tram was shut down our entire stay after 2 trams collided so we had to walk with our luggage there and back. It’s over a half a mile. The resort is surrounded by vacant lava fields so it would have made sense to have Ocean Tower Parking nearby. Not sure why they didn’t plan that in advance. If I ever stay there again (highly unlikely) I would book a room in Makai so we could be right next to the parking ($48/day!!) and next to the lagoon, dolphins and luau. Lastly, the lagoon is cute and was nice for kids to learn to snorkel but there is no beach on this resort. "
