Marriott situated in a compact community campus with private condos, private golf course, gas station a couple small shopping centers, super market. Beyond that is the ocean and lava. Meh.

Stayed at a few places around the Hawaiian islands on a family trip. This was a bit disappointing. The resort is a bit tired, the dining options on site were slow, just OK on the food and expensive for what is a pretty basic experience. The pools lacked shade. The rooms were OK, but smelled musty. The AC is noisy. The bay itself is lovely, with plenty of fish and turtles to see. The location is a bit far from everything else so we did a fair amount of driving.

Don’t bother paying extra for ocean view you won’t get it. You can see it a little if you hang over side of balcony.
