South Thompson Inn & Conference Centre

Room pink and white stripped wallpaper and white rattan furniture. Framed pictures looked faded. Loose electrical fitting for heater to which my daughter received electric shock from. Difficult to find quiet isolated. Not to my taste.

Arrived with a bus tour, stayed 1 night. Booked into an upstairs room in the Guest House which looked lovely and inviting from the outside. The room was cold and had to request heat turned on from main bldg. Dusty bathroom fixtures, and window sills covered with dead wasps; carpet disgustingly stained everywhere... Tour guide requested I be moved ... which turned out to be in the main bldg, handicapped room, so it was roomy, well appointed and clean. Dinner & Breakfast were good.... however we had one lady on the tour whose stomach was upset so she didn't feel up to eating any dinner, so I suggested she at least eat some soda biscuits/saltines... None of the staff in the dinning room knew what these were!!! When I explained they are usually served with soup, they thought I meant croutons. ... They ultimately brought her a small plate with some digestive cookies which are nowhere near helpful in soothing an upset tummy. I had hoped to take a photo of the back of the guest house (deck) however the veranda floor was covered with leaves (how hard is it to sweep clear?) and there was a garbage can on its side at the far end of the ground floor patio. Everything looked 'tired' and neglected... lobby very dark and the silk plants covered with dust. Certainly not what I'd been expecting after the rave reviews.

The setting is awesome. As one drives through the gate, a long winding asphalt road leads to the main building with large grass fields on both sides where the horses and llamas graze peacefully. The golf links go on the left and riverside undulations on the right. The two storied building has reception area with a small gift-cum-souvenir shop and the guest rooms with interesting name boards. The bar and restaurant are extended arms of the building. It is a family run hospitality ranch with professional finess. The swimming pool and the open bonfire area on the rear side are just near the river banks. The surrounding garden has lots of trees of which Apples and Plums are laden with juicy fruits. The riverside view is equally amazing in the dawn and the dusk. The flocks of Canadian geese roam and swim at leisurely mood. The railway tracks and highway beyond the river remind you of your connection with the worldly activities. Some birds fly across towards the rugged mountains with small patches of green. It is a complete story of relaxation in nature’s own country!

We stayed there just for a couple of days, but I have not complains at all, nice rooms and excellent beds, hited swiming pool, paceful sourroundings and beautiful gardens. I recomend this place including food and service.

My husband and I and a few friends stayed here for one night, and loved it! The property is gorgeous, the rooms are absolutely adorable! The outdoor hot tub was great to relax in after a day on the road.. A morning River walk is a must! We loved seeing the dog in the lobby- great for all of us missing our fur babies at home!

Lovely place....CLEAN!!! Service is great!!! Food is good. Scenery beautiful!! Swimming Pool and Jacuzzi available. Exercise: walking, running and bicycling is great!!! Rooms are spacious and very confortable. Wish we could have stayed more time.

My husband and I are driving from Vancouver Island to Calgary, along with our pooch. Our ideal place to stay is a pet friendly, clean, quiet and comfortable accomodation that we can get to fairly easily from the highway, that has easy access to green space for our pooch to walk around, located outside city limits so we can be in nature, at a reasonable price. The South Thompson Inn & Conference Centre went above and beyond meeting these expectations. As soon as we drove up the Inn driveway we knew we were somewhere special. The facility is located on a massive green-space that backs onto the Thompson River. We were greeted by the kindest young man who checked us in and oriented us to the property. We arrived after sunset and felt completely safe to walk around the grounds in the dark with our pooch. Our room was immaculate and comfortable. There was an ice machine in the hall right outside our door which was a bit noisy but fortunately not used too much or too late. As the inn is about 20 minutes outside of Kamloops they stock a variety of supplies, toiletries and snacks for purchase. We had no issues with WIFI. The A/C worked well and the bed and pillows and linens were all very comfortable. We had a good night's sleep. The next morning, after enjoying some coffee on the porch, we were greeted by another exceptionally kind staff who especially made our pooch feel welcome. She made some suggestions for places to explore, and we ended up walking down the river shoreline which was both fun and beautiful. We are grateful we stumbled upon this gem and plan to make it a regular stop on future trips through BC.

This charming hotel has a warm gracious feel to it despite an awkward entrance. When you leave the road, you drive through a housing area with white corrals. Hotel is at end of the road. Great location along the river. We were warmly greeted and found everything to be delightful. Staff was attentive and friendly. Dinner was outstanding and breakfast the next morning was very good. It was a nice treat to be able to walk around the grounds, visiting with the nearby horses and llamas.

We just had our wedding at the inn last week ( ceremony and reception) and we were overall very pleased. The food was great, the venue itself is lovely, and we didnt have any major issues. Leah was very helpful with organizing everything. The garage/ stable where I was to walk out had been torn up and Leah was very kind as to double check and make sure it wasn't an issue for us/ ask if we wanted to do something else. Everyone had a really great time. We had a toonie bar, which for most part turned out well, however when people would ordered something not on the toonie bar, the bartender would make the drink/ shot before letting the person know it wasn't a toonie bar item. Would have been better to give people a heads up ahead of time but it wasn't a huge issue. The security fellow for the wedding was quite rude at one point to my brother, which I felt was uncalled for. He had gone back to his room with a drink from the bar, and then came right back as he'd forgotten his key so couldn't get in, and the security guard accused him of having outside alcohol despite it clearly being a drink from the bar... just unneccessary but after my husband talked to the security guard it wasn't an issue, just too bad he had to be so nasty about it. Other than that it was awesome.
