This was our 3rd stay at this hotel and we were not disappointed. The staff are helpful and friendly - do make use of the concierge service if you are new to Havana as they are a wealth of information. Online advice was to take US Dollars however we found out after we got there that because of a tax on dollars we would have been better off taking Sterling so please check this out before you go. You can change money in the hotel and there is also an ATM a short walk away (just past La Floradita so stop for a daiquiri on the way!). We've found this hotel to be a great base for sightseeing around Havana and there are always taxi's outside if you want to go further afield. The roof top bar is a great place for pre- or post dinner cocktails and you can also get really good food here. The a/c in our room wouldn't go below 21C which was an issue especially as it was so hot with 100% humidity!!! However, the lobby bar area was a cool oasis.
Our room was in the new building, it was large, clean and comfortable. The hotel location is ideal for sightseeing, there are markets, bars and restaurants within a short walking distance. The 2 roof top pools are clean and offer amazing views of the city. The buffet breakfast was good and we enjoyed cocktails and tapas in the main bar. There was local entertainment in the main bar area every evening. I was sad to leave the city and the hotel and would recommend the hotel as a great base for exploring.
We have been to this hotel for 2 nights during our stay in La Habana. The position is super good just on the verge of Habana Vieja and Habana central. you can walk almost everywhere. We had the room in the new part. The room was nice, there are 2 roof tops swimming pool. The consierge Eddy was great since he hlped us to organize all our dinners and the tours. He assist us not insisting on the services. Very kind and very professional. We had a little issue when we checked out, because as soon as you complete the check out they cut off your internet account, so no more wifi. They did not inform us about that. The wifi works only in the lobby which is not a good service but in Cuba internet is a lux. Recommended.
We liked very much the hotel but what makes it extraordinary, is its people. We appreciate good service but here we found people who goes far beyond that. We experienced a big problem caused by ourselves, we tried to solve it without any success, as usual sellers were very good selling but laggards to help. We asked help in the hotel and they didn´t stopped until they got it solved. Especial mention to the Division Manager, Priscilla who took our problem as hers. Try a lobster with a glass of wine at the covered terrace, have a drink on the small bar hidden in the second floor, and visit the top roof terrace with a great view of old Habana and the swimming pool. In the Hotel you can feel the grandeur of old Habana, with the best of modern comfort.
Great hotel and service, clean rooms, amazing pool and the view from the top. Definitely a recommendation for a place to stay while in Havana. Breakfast is very good and it has a lot of options. All the time someone is singing or playing on a piano in the lobby so it’s nice to spend time there.
The hotel is located centrally in Havana and therefore in walking distance of the hustle and bustle of Habana. The day we arrived there was a storm which had impacted our room and floor was wet. Took 3 attempts to get housekeeping to come and mop the floor, not great after 10 hour flight! Overall hotel is good but a little outdated on areas. Good standard of bteakfast.
The parque Central is a perfect location and Central Havana you can take a ten-minute walk in any direction and be at a number of the main sites to see in the old part of the city. The two rooftop pools and bars are excellent for cooling down in the high noon summer heat. The views from up top are the best in the city. The morning breakfast buffet was a very good variety and all the hotel restaurants had good food and very tasty dishes. Maitre'd Osmany was particularly helpful and professional. The hotel staff are top-notch and will help you with any question that you may have. The doormen and porters and certainly the restaurant and bar staff are great people and are very welcoming. Miss Sidney was another great professional who will help you with any of your museum or event visiting. We spent a week here leisurely seeing many restaurants and sites throughout the city. The Tropicana is certainly a must- see. Gracias Parque Central!
Despite being a busy hotel it still managed to retain a charming atmosphere with almost continuous live music rotating different artists throughout the day and evening. Excellent central location, really good range of breakfast choices and a rooftop terrace with fantastic views and a pool to cool down in after a day of sightseeing. The door staff were some of the most helpful in Cuba always there to offer assistance to find where to go or to haul a taxi. On our final night we accessed the sister hotel via tunnel from the lobby to attend the Friday salsa night on the roof - really authentic and high standard of entertainment and voluntary audience participation for those not drinking or smoking a cigar.
Stayed here for one day at the end of a tour through Cuba. The location is perfect in the middle of Havana. The rooms are fine, but definitely not five star, beds are good, cleaning could be much better. Regarding hospitality, friendliness and service improvements can be made. However for Cuban standards it's above average. By example: we arrived at 17.45 at the hotel, one of the two booked rooms was not ready yet. We checked in one room so we could change clothes and go to the wonderful pool on the roof. I had to go to the airport, so my wife and children went to the pool. When they tried to order some drinks that was impossible because the kids room didn't have a credit. My wife explained that our room was not ready jet and showed a credit card. Then they said if she hadn't a room she had to leave....after speaking to 3 (slightly irritated) waiters the security guard decided she could stay and drinks could be ordered......at 19.30 I checked in on our room. In my opinion the pool area could be better cleaned especially the restrooms. Excellent breakfast, goodview over Havana from the pool area. The money changing facility in the hotel was perfect. Wouldn't go back here. Breakfast is excellent and the view from the pool over Havana is great.
The hotel is is in a fantastic position, just outside 'Central Park' (small park of pathways, bushes/trees and benches) and the capital building (apparently 91cm higher than the one in Washington...!). This hotel is where a lot of the flight reps stay - so can’t be all bad. The interior is a bit Art Deco and is quite grand - the rooms unfortunately don’t quite live up to this and are a bit basic - but more than adequate. You can get a room looking over the internal courtyard or if you’re lucky, one looking over old Havana. There is always music in the hotel and they do some salsa nights where they encourage everyone to join. The meals and drinks are relatively expensive - a small bottle of water is the equivalent of £3 - although the exchange rate is poor at the moment. It is a great hotel from which to go exploring Havana. This is one city where you can get lost just exploring and the hotel is conveniently based. If you’ve never been to Havana before, one bit of advice from someone who was taken in ( el smucko) - you can get approached by couples who just start talking to you, really innocuously, about anything. They then offer to take you to a genuine Cuban restaurant as a real favour to you....just because you’re visiting their city...- where you end up paying more than what you would have done if you went in off the street. They are highly professional- so just have your wits about you.
