We recently stayed at Lopesan Costa Bávaro and overall had a decent experience, but there were several areas that could be improved.
Pros:
Restaurants were excellent — especially the Italian restaurant. Every meal we had was high quality and delicious.
The pools are amazing — large, clean, and plenty of chairs available (no waking up at 6am just to reserve one!).
Staff is incredibly friendly — every interaction felt genuine and positive.
Rooms are spacious, and the AC works really well (a big plus in the heat).
Check-in and check-out were quick and easy, which helped start and end the trip smoothly.
Cons:
Room service was very slow, consistently taking about an hour to arrive.
The omelet station took 15–20 minutes, which feels excessive for a resort buffet.
Evening buffet was closed Sunday–Wednesday, leaving fewer dining options during those nights.
We weren’t welcomed with drinks upon arrival, which many resorts in this category normally offer.
Nightly entertainment was just okay — nothing particularly memorable.
The kids’ water park is located on the opposite side of the resort from the main pool, which required a lot of walking back and forth.
Bottom line:
The resort has a lot going for it — great food, great pools, friendly staff, and comfortable rooms. However, the long service wait times and some logistical inconveniences kept it from being a five-star experience. With a few improvements, this could easily become an exceptional destination.
